We are so happy we don’t even know where to start! First off , Allan is amazing - he made sure we had the proper set up weeks before departure and even tired to accommodate our civic with hitch and wiring. We pivoted to the truck - but nonetheless we were very appreciative. He was so helpful with the reservation and even dropped off the camper. Thoroughly went through the setup with us and our dog definitely approved! The set up was exceptional! We were truly impressed with the proper tools. It made our little weekend gateway that much better. The camper is spacious and very clean! We will definitely be back !

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Pembroke, ON

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Pembroke?

RV rental in Pembroke is refreshingly affordable compared to major Canadian cities. On RVezy, travel trailers near Pembroke typically range from about $100 to $175 CAD per night, while motorhomes generally run $200 to $300 CAD per night, and many hosts offer weekly or monthly discounts. To find a cheap RV rental in Pembroke without sacrificing quality, book midweek, travel in the late May or September shoulder season, and consider a towable trailer if you already have a capable tow vehicle. What kind of driver's license do I need to rent an RV in Pembroke?

Good news: a standard full Class G Ontario driver's license is all you need to drive almost any RV you'll rent in Pembroke, including Class B campervans, Class C motorhomes, most Class A motorhomes, travel trailers, and fifth wheels with a registered gross weight under 11,000 kg. To book on RVezy you must be at least 25 years old, and your ID is verified securely through the platform before pickup. Visiting from outside Canada? Your valid home country license is accepted in Ontario for short visits, and an International Driving Permit is a smart backup. Heavier rigs over 11,000 kg may require an additional class of license, and your host will flag this before you book.

Is my RV rental in Pembroke protected if something goes wrong?

Yes, you can hit the road with real peace of mind. Every RV rental in Pembroke booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance. During checkout, you choose the protection level that fits your trip, and it covers eligible physical damage to the RV while you're exploring the Ottawa Valley or Algonquin Park. While it isn't traditional personal auto insurance, it provides meaningful financial protection so a flat tire on Highway 17 or a minor mishap at the campsite won't derail your motorhome rental in Pembroke. You can review what each plan includes on the RVezy insurance and protection page before you book.

What's the cancellation policy if my Pembroke RV trip plans change?

Booking your Pembroke RV trip is low-risk. RVezy (not individual hosts) sets the cancellation policy, and it includes a money-back grace period right after booking so you have time to confirm plans with your travel companions. Depending on how far in advance you cancel, partial or full refunds may be available, and if a host cancels you'll receive a refund or travel credit. You can review the full cancellation terms in the RVezy Help Center before you confirm your dates. Pro tip: lock in dates early for July long weekend and Algonquin shoulder season trips, since popular RVs in the Ottawa Valley book out quickly.

When is the best time of year to rent an RV in Pembroke?

The sweet spot for an RV trip in Pembroke runs from late May through early October. July and August bring the warmest weather (average daytime highs around 25 to 27 degrees C) and the longest daylight hours, perfect for swimming in the Ottawa River. September is the local favourite: fewer bugs, smaller crowds, and the Algonquin maple canopy turning fiery red and gold by the third week. Spring (May) is quieter and cooler, around 15 to 20 degrees C, and great for paddling. Winters here are genuinely cold, with January averages well below freezing, so most rentals operate May through October. Pro tip: aim for the week after Labour Day for peak fall colour and the best rates.
climate.weather.gc.ca/climate_normals/

I've never rented an RV before. Will I be okay driving one around Pembroke?

Yes, and you're in one of the easiest regions in Ontario to learn. First time renting an RV is a breeze around Pembroke because Highway 17 is wide, flat, and lightly trafficked compared to anywhere near Toronto. Every RVezy host provides a hands-on orientation at pickup, walking you through driving, hookups, the generator, slide-outs, and the propane system before you leave the driveway. You can also message your host with any question before booking right from the listing page. Pro tip: do a confidence loop on Pembroke Street West and along the Algonquin Trail rail-to-trail corridor before heading toward Algonquin Park or the cottage country backroads.

What happens if I break down during my Pembroke RV trip?

You're never on your own. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so one call gets you help whether you're parked along Highway 17 between Pembroke and Deep River, on Barron Canyon Road heading into Algonquin's east side, or anywhere on your route. Roadside can dispatch for flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, towing, and fuel delivery. Your host is also a quick text away to troubleshoot small items like the awning or water pump. Pro tip: cell coverage thins out west of Pembroke on Highway 17 toward Mattawa, so download offline maps before you leave town.

What road trips can I do from Pembroke, and can I cross into the US?

Pembroke is a fantastic launch pad for an RV road trip. Top routes include Algonquin Provincial Park's east-side access via Sand Lake Gate (about 60 km west), the full Highway 60 Algonquin corridor (around 165 km one way to the West Gate), Ottawa for capital sightseeing (about 150 km southeast), North Bay along scenic Highway 17 (around 250 km west), and the Bonnechere Caves loop through Eganville (about 75 km). Cross-border RV travel into the US is possible on RVezy depending on the host and protection plan you choose, so confirm with your host before booking. Travel to Mexico is not permitted. Pro tip: the Ottawa Valley butter-tart route makes for a delicious detour on any itinerary.

How much should I budget for fuel on my Ottawa Valley RV trip?

Fuel is one of the easier line items to plan when you rent an RV in Ontario. Pembroke gas prices typically run a few cents below Toronto and Ottawa, with regular unleaded generally in the $1.50 to $1.75 CAD per litre range in recent seasons. Class B campervans get the best mileage at roughly 10 to 13 L/100 km, Class C motorhomes average 18 to 22 L/100 km, and larger Class A rigs can hit 25 to 30 L/100 km. A 500 km round trip from Pembroke to Algonquin's Highway 60 corridor in a Class C will run roughly $150 to $200 in fuel. Pro tip: fill up in Pembroke before heading west on Highway 17, since stations thin out past Deep River.

How far in advance should I book campgrounds near Pembroke?

For Ontario Parks like Algonquin, Driftwood, and Bonnechere, the reservation window opens exactly five months to the day at 7:00 a.m. ET through the Ontario Parks reservation system. Algonquin's electric sites and Driftwood's riverfront spots can be gone within minutes for prime summer weekends. Private campgrounds like Riverside Park Campground in Pembroke and Logos Land Resort in Cobden are more relaxed, but aim for 4 to 8 weeks ahead for July and August stays. You can book online or by phone through Ontario Parks. Pro tip: set an alarm for 6:55 a.m. ET on your five-month-out date, log in early, and have backup sites ready.

What are local driving conditions like around Pembroke?

Driving an RV around Pembroke is relaxed compared to most Canadian cities. Highway 17 (the Trans-Canada) runs right through town with wide lanes and gentle grades, and city streets like Pembroke Street West are RV-friendly with easy turns and big-rig-capable gas stations. Watch for moose and white-tailed deer at dawn and dusk, especially on Highway 17 between Pembroke and Mattawa and on backroads toward Algonquin's east-side gates. Winter brings snow and ice from December to March, so most RV rentals operate May through October. Pro tip: Barron Canyon Road into Algonquin turns to gravel past the Sand Lake Gate, manageable for any RV at a slow, steady pace.
ontario.ca/page/road-safety

What amenities can I expect at campgrounds near Pembroke?

Campgrounds near Pembroke offer a satisfying range of amenities. Riverside Park Campground has electric and water hookups, washrooms with showers, a splash pad, and a boat launch on the Ottawa River. Ontario Parks like Driftwood and Bonnechere provide electrical sites, vault and flush toilets, potable water taps, and dump stations for grey and black tanks. Logos Land Resort offers full hookups plus a waterpark. Most sites include fire pits and picnic tables. Pro tip: Driftwood's dump station is available for registered campers, so top up fresh water there before heading deeper into Algonquin where services are limited past the Sand Lake Gate.

What's inside a typical RV rental in Pembroke?

You'll be pleasantly surprised by how well-equipped Pembroke RV rentals are. Most motorhomes and trailers sleep 4 to 8 people across queen beds, bunks, and convertible dinettes, and come with a full kitchen (fridge, stove, microwave, sink), a bathroom with toilet and shower, climate control (furnace and air conditioning), entertainment options, and seatbelts for travelling passengers. Class A and Class C motorhomes typically include onboard generators for off-grid use, which is gold in Algonquin's east-side backcountry. Campervan rentals in Pembroke (Class B vans) are compact but full-featured. Pro tip: filter by Sleeps and review each listing's amenity list, since hosts itemize exactly what's included down to coffee makers and BBQs.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Pembroke%2C%20Ontario

What add-ons can I get, and how does pickup and dropoff work in Pembroke?

Hosts in Pembroke offer add-ons that make your trip easier. Common extras include camping chairs and tables, kitchen kits, bedding and linens, BBQs, generators, bike racks, kayaks, and even Starlink Wi-Fi (a lifesaver in Algonquin Park dead zones). Add-on fees are clearly listed on each RVezy listing before checkout. Pickup is usually at the host's address in or around Pembroke, Petawawa, or Cobden, with a thorough walkthrough that takes about 30 to 45 minutes. Many hosts also offer RV delivery in Pembroke to your campground or driveway for a flat fee. Pro tip: ask the host about quiet generators or Starlink if you're heading to events or remote sites with limited services.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Pembroke%2C%20Ontario

How does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?

Payment is simple and secure: you pay your full booking total (nightly rate, fees, and any add-ons) through the RVezy platform at the time of booking using a credit card, with no cash changing hands at pickup. A refundable security deposit is pre-authorized on your card before your trip, held during your rental, and released after a successful return. The amount varies by RV value and is shown on the listing. To avoid issues, complete the pre-trip walkthrough carefully with your host, take timestamped photos, and return the RV with the fuel and propane levels noted in your agreement. Pro tip: keep the dump station receipt as proof of proper return.

Can I rent an RV in Pembroke during winter for an Ottawa Valley snow adventure?

Yes, winter RV camping near Pembroke is an underrated adventure for cold-weather lovers. A handful of RVezy hosts list four-season rigs with heated holding tanks, enclosed underbellies, and shore-power-ready setups, ideal for ice fishing on Muskrat Lake, snowshoeing the Algonquin Trail, or chasing Northern Lights along the Ottawa River. Expect January daytime highs well below freezing with overnight lows that can dip to around -25 degrees C, so plan for shore power where possible, a winter-rated furnace, and plenty of propane. Message hosts about cold-weather prep before booking. Pro tip: Algonquin's Mew Lake Campground stays open year-round, one of the few Ontario Parks to do so.
