This was our first experience renting a trailer and it all worked out perfectly. The price was right. Isabelle, our host, was lovely and answered all my questions. When we picked it up, the instructions were clear. And most important, the trailer was well supplied, clean and my number one consideration - the bed was comfortable. I would rent this trailer again!

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Saint-Mathieu-du-Parc, QC

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Saint-Mathieu-du-Parc?

RV rental in Saint-Mathieu-du-Parc is surprisingly affordable, especially compared to traditional resorts on Lac Bellemare or Lac à la Pêche. Travel trailers typically run $100 to $175 CAD per night, Class C motorhomes range from $200 to $325 CAD per night, and luxury Class A rigs sit at the higher end. Shoulder seasons (late May to mid-June and September) are the smart-money move, often 20 to 30 percent cheaper than July and August peak. For a cheap RV rental Saint-Mathieu-du-Parc booking, filter by travel trailer and pair it with a host who offers delivery to skip the tow-vehicle hassle. Booking 2 to 3 months ahead locks in the best Mauricie rates before La Mauricie National Park fills up.

What license do I need to rent an RV in Saint-Mathieu-du-Parc, Quebec?

Good news: your regular Class 5 driver's license (or equivalent from your home province or country) is all you need to rent an RV in Saint-Mathieu-du-Parc. No special motorhome endorsement, no Quebec-specific permit, no commercial license required for any RV on the RVezy platform. You'll need to be 25 or older, and ID verification happens right inside the platform during booking, so there's no extra paperwork at pickup. Visiting from outside Canada? An International Driving Permit (IDP) paired with your home license keeps things smooth at any roadside check. Most first-time renters are surprised how quickly they're behind the wheel and heading toward Lac Wapizagonke.
saaq.gouv.qc.ca/en/driver-licence

Is insurance and roadside assistance included with my Saint-Mathieu-du-Parc RV rental?

Yes, every booking on RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you are covered whether you are parked at Camping Tarukino or driving Route 351 up toward Saint-Jean-des-Piles. The protection plan covers most damages to the vehicle, giving you real financial peace of mind without the hassle of arranging your own coverage. During checkout you choose the level of protection that fits your trip (hosts do not pick this, you do), so you can dial coverage up for a longer Mauricie RV trip or keep it lean for a quick weekend at Lac Bellemare. If a tire blows on a backroad near La Mauricie National Park, one call to RVezy roadside gets help dispatched.

What happens if I need to cancel my Saint-Mathieu-du-Parc RV booking?

Booking is low-risk: RVezy sets a clear cancellation policy on every reservation, including a money-back grace period right after you book, so you can lock in a great RV in Saint-Mathieu-du-Parc with confidence. Cancellation terms are managed by RVezy (not the individual host), so the process is consistent no matter which rig you choose, and the policy details are shown during checkout before you pay. If a host has to cancel on you, RVezy refunds you or offers travel credits so your trip plans stay protected. Pro tip: book early to secure July and August dates near La Mauricie National Park, knowing the grace period has your back if plans shift.

Can I bring my dog on a Saint-Mathieu-du-Parc RV trip?

Absolutely, pet-friendly RV rental Saint-Mathieu-du-Parc options are easy to find: just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy and you'll see hosts who welcome dogs (and sometimes cats). La Mauricie National Park allows leashed pets on most trails and at frontcountry campgrounds like Mistagance and Wapizagonke, making this one of Quebec's best dog-friendly RV destinations. The village of Saint-Mathieu-du-Parc itself is rural and quiet, with plenty of forest roads for morning walks. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm any pet fee or breed notes, and pack a tie-out and water bowl, since summer afternoons around Lac Bellemare get warm.
parks.canada.ca/pn-np/qc/mauricie/visit/animaux-pets

Can the RV be delivered to my campsite in Saint-Mathieu-du-Parc?

Yes, RV delivery Saint-Mathieu-du-Parc is one of the smartest ways to start your trip, especially if you're flying into Montréal-Trudeau or Québec City and don't want to drive a big rig on Autoroute 40. Many hosts on RVezy will deliver directly to La Mauricie National Park campgrounds (Mistagance, Wapizagonke, Rivière-à-la-Pêche), to private parks like Camping Tarukino, or even to a rental cottage driveway in the village. They'll level the RV, hook up water and power, and walk you through every system before handing over the keys. Filter by Delivery on the search page, then message hosts to confirm the drop-off address and any kilometre-based delivery fee.
parks.canada.ca/pn-np/qc/mauricie/activ/camping

How does mileage work and how far can I drive from Saint-Mathieu-du-Parc?

Most hosts include a generous daily kilometre allowance (often 150 to 200 km per day), and some offer RV rental with unlimited mileage, which is ideal for a bigger Quebec loop. From Saint-Mathieu-du-Parc you are perfectly placed: Trois-Rivieres is about 45 km (40 minutes), Shawinigan is roughly 30 km away, Quebec City is around 175 km (about 2 hours), and Montreal is roughly 200 km via Autoroute 40. Even Mont-Tremblant National Park is a doable day trip at around 250 km. Check the listing's mileage policy before booking, and if you are planning a longer RV road trip from Saint-Mathieu-du-Parc, ask the host about an unlimited-km upgrade.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106074-What-is-the-mileage-policy

Where are the best campgrounds near Saint-Mathieu-du-Parc?

You're spoiled for choice. La Mauricie National Park, just minutes from the village, runs three serviced frontcountry campgrounds: Rivière-à-la-Pêche (closest to the south entrance and great for first-timers), Mistagance (family favourite with a beach on Lac Édouard), and Wapizagonke (stunning lake views and easy trail access). For private sites with full hookups, Camping Tarukino and Camping Domaine Lac Bellemare offer pools, Wi-Fi, and lakefront pads right in Saint-Mathieu-du-Parc. RV camping Saint-Mathieu-du-Parc fills up fast in July, so reserve frontcountry sites the moment Parks Canada's reservation window opens in January for the upcoming summer.
parks.canada.ca/pn-np/qc/mauricie/activ/camping/frontcountry-prepays

When is the best time to visit Saint-Mathieu-du-Parc in an RV?

Late June through early October is the sweet spot for a Saint-Mathieu-du-Parc RV trip. July and August deliver warm days (24 to 27°C) and lake-perfect swimming at Lac Bellemare and Lac Wapizagonke. September is the locals' secret: cooler nights around 8 to 12°C, fewer bugs, and the Mauricie's famous fall colours peaking late September into the first week of October. Spring (May to mid-June) is quieter and cheaper but expect lingering black flies and chilly nights near 5°C. Winter RVing is possible with a four-season rig if you love snowshoeing in La Mauricie National Park, but most hosts list May through October. Book fall colour weekends 3 months ahead.

I'm first time renting an RV. Will I actually know what I'm doing?

Yes, and Saint-Mathieu-du-Parc is one of the easiest places in Quebec to start. Every RVezy host gives you a hands-on orientation at pickup or delivery: how to level the RV, hook up shore power, fill fresh water, dump the tanks, run the propane stove, and operate the awning. They'll share their phone number so you can text from your campsite if something feels off. The roads around the village are wide, paved, and lightly trafficked, which is a gentle introduction compared to city driving. Pro tip: rent a Class C motorhome or travel trailer under 25 feet for your first trip, and book two nights at Mistagance so you have time to settle in.
parks.canada.ca/pn-np/qc/mauricie/visit/learn-experience

What if something breaks down during my trip?

You are never on your own. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so a flat tire on Chemin Saint-Edouard or a dead battery at the Lac Wapizagonke trailhead is a quick phone call away. Your host is also a direct line for questions about their specific rig (think: how to reset the inverter or restart the fridge). For anything bigger, RVezy support is reachable before, during, and after your trip. Cell coverage is solid in the village and along Route 351 but spottier deep inside La Mauricie National Park, so save key numbers offline before you head into the backcountry zones.

Can I take my RV across the US border or to other provinces?

Cross-border and inter-provincial travel is often possible, but you need to confirm two things before booking: the host allows it, and the protection package extends to your route. Many Saint-Mathieu-du-Parc hosts happily approve trips into Ontario (Ottawa is 4 hours, Algonquin Park 6 hours) or down to New York and Vermont via the Lacolle border crossing. Just message the host through the listing to get written approval and ask RVezy support to confirm coverage for US travel. One firm rule: travel into Mexico is not allowed on any RVezy rental because protection coverage doesn't extend there. For a classic Quebec loop, Gaspésie and Saguenay Fjord are well within reach.
cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/travel-voyage/menu-eng.html

What kind of fuel mileage and budget should I expect?

Realistic expectations make for a happy trip. Class C motorhomes around Saint-Mathieu-du-Parc average 18 to 22 litres per 100 km, Class A rigs 25 to 30 L/100km, and a travel trailer towed behind a half-ton truck lands around 15 to 18 L/100km. Gas prices in the Mauricie region typically run $1.55 to $1.75 CAD per litre, with stations in Shawinigan and Saint-Boniface usually cheaper than the small pumps near La Mauricie National Park. For a 4-day trip with 400 km of driving, budget roughly $150 to $250 CAD for fuel. Pro tip: fill up in Shawinigan before heading into the park, since there's no fuel inside Parks Canada boundaries.
rncan.gc.ca/energy/fuel-prices/4593

How far in advance should I book a campground near Saint-Mathieu-du-Parc?

For La Mauricie National Park, the answer is the moment the Parks Canada reservation system opens in mid-January, especially for Mistagance and Wapizagonke serviced sites in July and August, which sell out within hours. Private campgrounds like Camping Tarukino and Domaine Lac Bellemare are more forgiving but still fill 4 to 8 weeks ahead for summer weekends. Shoulder-season trips in June or September can usually be booked 2 to 3 weeks out. Reserve through the Parks Canada reservation portal for federal sites, and directly with private campgrounds by phone or website. Pro tip: midweek arrivals (Sunday or Monday) are far easier to score than Friday check-ins.
reservation.pc.gc.ca/Mauricie

What are the roads like around Saint-Mathieu-du-Parc?

Driving here is refreshingly low-stress, which is a big reason it's a great motorhome rental Saint-Mathieu-du-Parc destination for newer RVers. Route 351 and the village roads are paved, well-maintained, and gently curving through forested terrain. Inside La Mauricie National Park, the 63 km Parkway is paved and scenic but includes hills and tight turns near Lac Wapizagonke, so take it slow in a larger Class A. Watch for moose and white-tailed deer at dawn and dusk, especially on Chemin Saint-François. Winter brings snow and ice from late November through March; most summer RV trips avoid this entirely. Check Québec 511 for live road conditions before any longer drive.
quebec511.info/en/default.aspx

What amenities will I find at campgrounds in Saint-Mathieu-du-Parc?

Expect a mix of comfort and wilderness. La Mauricie National Park's serviced loops at Mistagance and Rivière-à-la-Pêche offer 30-amp electrical hookups, potable water fill stations, dump stations, flush toilets, hot showers, and firewood sales, but no individual sewer hookups (you dump on departure). Private parks like Camping Tarukino and Domaine Lac Bellemare typically provide full hookups (water, 30/50-amp power, sewer), Wi-Fi, pools, and laundry. Both park entrances have dump stations included with your reservation. Pro tip: fill your fresh-water tank at the entrance station on the way in, since interior taps are seasonal and shut off after Thanksgiving weekend in mid-October.
parks.canada.ca/pn-np/qc/mauricie/activ/camping/services

What's actually inside the RVs I can rent in Saint-Mathieu-du-Parc?

Most rigs come fully equipped and ready to camp the second the host hands over the keys. Expect a queen or king bed in the main bedroom, bunk or convertible dinette beds for kids, a kitchen with a propane stove, fridge/freezer, microwave, sink, and basic cookware, plus a wet or dry bathroom with toilet and shower. Air conditioning, furnace, and a propane water heater are standard. Many listings include a generator (great for boondocking outside La Mauricie National Park), exterior speakers, and a TV; some offer Wi-Fi hotspots and solar panels. Seatbelted seating for travel is clearly listed. Filter by Sleeps count and amenities to match a campervan rental Saint-Mathieu-du-Parc to your group size.
tc.canada.ca/en/road-transportation

What add-ons and pickup options should I know about?

Hosts in Saint-Mathieu-du-Parc offer popular extras that make life easier: bedding and linen packages ($40 to $75), kitchen kits ($30 to $50), camping chairs and outdoor mats ($15 to $30), bike racks, kayaks for Lac Bellemare, generators, and propane top-ups. Pickup is usually at the host's home in or near the village, often between 1 and 4 pm, with returns by 11 am. Many hosts also offer paid delivery to La Mauricie National Park campgrounds or local cottages. Mileage policies vary by listing (typically 150 to 200 km/day included), and overages run $0.25 to $0.45 per extra km. Pro tip: bundle delivery, setup, and a linen package for a true zero-effort family RV trip Saint-Mathieu-du-Parc weekend.

How does payment and the security deposit work?

Payment is simple and secure: you pay through RVezy at booking using a credit card, with the rental cost, protection plan, and any add-ons clearly itemized so there are no surprises. A refundable security deposit is held separately from your booking payment and pre-authorized on your card before pickup, not charged unless there is damage or a policy issue at return. Once the host confirms the RV came back in good shape after your Saint-Mathieu-du-Parc trip, the hold is released. Pro tip: take date-stamped photos and a short walkaround video at both pickup and drop-off. It is the easiest way to keep your deposit return smooth and stress-free.

What are the best road trip destinations from Saint-Mathieu-du-Parc?

You're sitting on one of Quebec's best RV launch pads. Top picks for an RV road trip from Saint-Mathieu-du-Parc include: La Mauricie National Park (15 minutes, swimming, canoeing, fall colours), Shawinigan and the Cité de l'Énergie (25 km, family-friendly), Trois-Rivières old town and the Saint-Lawrence riverfront (35 km), Québec City and Île d'Orléans (165 km, roughly 2 hours), and Mont-Tremblant National Park for a bigger loop (250 km). Adventurous renters often continue to Saguenay Fjord (4 hours) or Gaspésie (7 hours). Pro tip: spend your first two nights local at Mistagance to learn the rig, then push further east on day three with full water tanks and a freshly dumped grey tank.
