My wife and I are thinking of buying an RV and decided to rent one and see if it was a good fit. What a stroke of luck it was finding Kerri and her rental unit. It was perfect for the two of us. We didn't need to pack anything but our tooth brushes. This camper had everything you needed from chairs to games to a completely stocked bathroom with anything you would need to refresh. It was exactly what a couple of novice campers needed. You will not be disappointed renting this unit. Kerri deserves 5 stars.

RV rentals in Fernandina Beach, FL

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Fernandina Beach, FL

How much does an RV rental in Fernandina Beach typically cost?

Great news for beach lovers: an RV rental in Fernandina Beach is one of the most affordable ways to enjoy Amelia Island. Travel trailers on RVezy usually start around $90 to $140 per night, Class C motorhomes range from $175 to $275, and larger Class A rigs run $250 to $400. Pricing dips noticeably November through February (outside spring break and the Shrimp Festival weekend in early May). For a cheap RV rental in Fernandina Beach, target midweek pickups, look for hosts offering weekly discounts, and consider a delivered travel trailer so you skip the rental car. Pro tip: bundling a Sunday through Thursday stay at Fort Clinch State Park with a delivered trailer is often the best total value on the island.

Do I need a special license to rent an RV in Fernandina Beach, FL?

Good news: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Fernandina Beach. Florida specifically exempts personal-use recreational vehicles from Commercial Driver License (CDL) rules under Florida Statute 322.53, so even a big Class A motorhome can be driven on your standard Class E license. To book on RVezy you'll need to be 25 or older and complete a quick ID verification through the platform. Visiting from abroad? Bring your home country license plus an International Driving Permit (IDP) and you're set. Most first-time renters are pleasantly surprised at how straightforward the paperwork is, leaving more time to plan your Amelia Island beach days.

What protection is included when I rent an RV in Fernandina Beach?

You're covered from the moment you hit A1A. Every RVezy booking in Fernandina Beach automatically includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can enjoy your Amelia Island RV trip with real peace of mind. The protection plan helps cover damage to the vehicle and is offered at different coverage levels you choose at checkout (hosts don't set this, you do). That means whether you're crossing the Shave Bridge to Amelia Island or parking at Fort Clinch State Park, you can focus on sunsets over the Amelia River instead of worst-case scenarios.

What if I need to cancel my Fernandina Beach RV rental?

Booking is lower risk than you'd think. RVezy (not the host) sets the cancellation policy that applies to your RV rental in Fernandina Beach, and you'll see the full cancellation details at checkout before you confirm. Because the policy is handled platform-wide, it isn't shown on individual listings. If a host cancels on you, RVezy issues a refund or travel credit so you're not left stranded. Pro tip for an Amelia Island RV trip: book early for the Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival in early May, knowing the platform's cancellation terms give you a clear safety net, and keep an eye on Atlantic hurricane season (June 1 to November 30) when planning.

Can I bring my dog on a Fernandina Beach RV trip?

Absolutely, this is one of the most dog-loving corners of Florida. Plenty of pet-friendly RV rentals in Fernandina Beach are available on RVezy, just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter when you search. Amelia Island goes a step further: leashed dogs are welcome on most of the 13 miles of public beach, and Main Beach Park has a dedicated off-leash dog area. Fort Clinch State Park allows leashed pets at both the Amelia River and Atlantic Beach campgrounds (though not inside the historic fort or on the swimming beach). Insider tip: take your pup to Peters Point Beachfront Park at low tide for one of the quietest dog walks on the island.

Can the RV be delivered to my campsite in Fernandina Beach?

Yes, and it's a game-changer for first-timers. Many RVezy hosts offer RV delivery in Fernandina Beach directly to Fort Clinch State Park, the Amelia River Campground, or even a private driveway on Amelia Island. The host drops off the trailer or motorhome, levels it, hooks up water and 30/50-amp power, and walks you through everything before handing over the keys. Delivery fees are set by each host, often a per-mile rate or a flat island fee, and some include free delivery within a set radius. Filter listings using the Delivery option to see who offers it. Pro tip: ask for delivery to Fort Clinch's Atlantic Beach loop so you wake up to ocean dunes just steps away.

How does mileage work, and how far can I drive on a Fernandina Beach RV trip?

You have plenty of road to explore. Most RVezy hosts in Fernandina Beach include a set number of free miles per day (commonly around 100 to 150), with options to prepay extra miles at a discount, and some listings even offer RV rental with unlimited mileage. That's more than enough to enjoy nearby favorites: Jacksonville Beach (about 35 miles south), St. Augustine (about 75 miles), the Cumberland Island ferry in St. Marys, GA (about 15 miles), Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge (about 50 miles), and Savannah, GA (about 140 miles). Check the listing's mileage policy before booking, or message the host directly to add a custom package. Pro tip: if you're planning a longer RV road trip from Fernandina Beach down A1A, prepaying miles upfront is almost always cheaper than the per-mile overage rate.

Where can I park or camp an RV in Fernandina Beach?

You have some of Florida's best coastal camping right at your doorstep. The top pick for RV camping in Fernandina Beach is Fort Clinch State Park, which offers two distinct campgrounds: the Atlantic Beach campground (oceanfront dune sites) and the Amelia River campground (shady oak hammocks). Both have water and 30/50-amp electric. Other great options include Pecan Park RV Resort (25 miles south near Jacksonville), Flamingo Lake RV Resort, and Little Talbot Island State Park just across the bridge. Overnight parking in town (Centre Street, beach lots) is not allowed for RVs. Pro tip: request site numbers in the 30s at the Atlantic Beach loop for the shortest walk to the surf.
floridastateparks.org/parks-and-trails/fort-clinch-state-park

When is the best time to visit Fernandina Beach in an RV?

Here's the local secret: the sweet spot is March through mid-May and October through early December. Daytime highs sit comfortably in the 70s to low 80s F, humidity is manageable, and the Atlantic Ocean is still swimmable. Summer (June through August) brings highs in the upper 80s to low 90s F with heavy afternoon thunderstorms and peak humidity, plus it overlaps Atlantic hurricane season (June 1 to November 30). Winters are mild with highs in the 60s F, perfect for snowbirds escaping the cold. Insider tip: time your Amelia Island RV trip for early May to catch the Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival, the island's signature event drawing more than 100,000 visitors downtown.

I've never driven an RV before. Will I be okay in Fernandina Beach?

You've picked an ideal spot for your first time renting an RV. Fernandina Beach has flat terrain, wide roads, and minimal traffic outside of festival weekends, far less stressful than navigating downtown Jacksonville or Miami. Every RVezy host provides a hands-on walkthrough at pickup covering driving basics, hookups, leveling, slide-outs, and tanks. You can also message the host with questions anytime, and 24/7 roadside assistance comes with every booking. Pro tip: ask your host for a smaller Class C motorhome or travel trailer for your first trip, they handle much more like a large pickup. Then take a practice loop on A1A north toward Fort Clinch before heading anywhere else.
flhsmv.gov/safety-center/driving-safety/

What happens if something goes wrong with the RV during my trip?

You're never on your own. Every RVezy booking comes with 24/7 roadside assistance included with the protection plan, so a flat tire, dead battery, lockout, or mechanical hiccup is a single phone call away from being handled. Your host is also reachable directly through the RVezy app for questions about quirks or operation (think: how to switch the water heater from electric to propane). For anything beyond that, RVezy's support team is available before, during, and after the trip. Local pro tip: cell service is solid across Amelia Island and along I-95, but it can fade in the Okefenokee Swamp area, so download offline maps before any inland detours.

Can I take the RV across state lines or into Georgia from Fernandina Beach?

Yes, and it's one of the best perks of basing your RV road trip in Fernandina Beach. You're 8 miles from the Georgia state line, putting Cumberland Island, Jekyll Island (45 miles), St. Simons Island (70 miles), and Savannah (140 miles) within easy reach. Interstate travel within the US is included on RVezy rentals by default. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on any RVezy rental due to insurance limitations. Cross-border trips into Canada may be possible with host approval, just message the host directly before booking to confirm. Pro tip: a 3-day loop through Fernandina Beach, Jekyll Island, and Savannah is hands-down the most scenic coastal drive on the East Coast.
cbp.gov/travel/us-citizens/know-before-you-go

What's the real fuel cost for an RV trip from Fernandina Beach?

Easier to budget than you'd guess. Florida gas prices typically run a few cents under the national average, and Fernandina Beach has standard-priced stations along S 8th Street and SR-200/A1A (Yulee has cheaper diesel near I-95 exit 373). Realistic fuel economy: travel trailers towed by a half-ton truck get 10 to 14 MPG, Class C motorhomes 8 to 12 MPG, and Class A gas rigs 6 to 9 MPG. For a 4-night Amelia Island RV trip staying mostly at Fort Clinch with a couple of day trips, budget roughly $80 to $200 in fuel. Pro tip: fill up in Yulee before crossing onto the island, gas is consistently cheaper off-island.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/

How far in advance should I book a campground near Fernandina Beach?

Earlier than you might think, but it's worth it. Fort Clinch State Park is one of the most coveted campgrounds in Florida and books fast through the official Florida State Parks reservation system at reserve.floridastateparks.org. Reservations open 11 months in advance, and prime oceanfront sites at the Atlantic Beach loop disappear within minutes of release. Private parks like Pecan Park RV Resort and Flamingo Lake RV Resort are easier and can often be booked 1 to 3 months out. Pro tip: set a calendar alert for the exact day reservations open for your target date and be logged in early, that's how you snag an oceanfront site for your Amelia Island RV trip.
floridastateparks.org/learn/reservations

What are the driving conditions like around Fernandina Beach?

Mostly relaxed, which is great for RVs. The main access to Amelia Island is the Thomas J. Shave Jr. Bridge on SR-A1A from Yulee, a causeway with no special height or weight restrictions for personal RVs. Roads on the island are flat, well-maintained, and free of mountain grades. Watch for two things: summer afternoon thunderstorms that can dump heavy rain quickly, and occasional flooding on low-lying A1A stretches during king tides or tropical systems. Historic downtown Fernandina (Centre Street area) has tight angled parking, so leave the RV at the campground and bike or rideshare in. Pro tip: avoid I-95 around Jacksonville during 7 to 9 a.m. and 4 to 6 p.m. weekday rush hours.
fl511.com/

What amenities will I find at campgrounds near Fernandina Beach?

You'll be comfortable. Fort Clinch State Park offers water and 30/50-amp electric at every site, a dump station at each campground entrance, clean (air-conditioned in summer) bathhouses with hot showers, coin laundry, picnic tables, and fire rings. Full hookups including sewer are available at private parks such as Pecan Park RV Resort, Flamingo Lake RV Resort, and Amelia River Campground sites. Potable water fill stations are at every campground entrance, and the nearest large grocery and propane refill is the Publix on Sadler Road. Pro tip: best campgrounds near Fernandina Beach fill propane tanks on-site, but call ahead, the Fort Clinch ranger station does not, so top up at Yulee Tractor Supply on your way in.
floridastateparks.org/parks-and-trails/fort-clinch-state-park

What's typically included inside an RV rental in Fernandina Beach?

More than you'd expect, so you can really make it home. A typical motorhome rental in Fernandina Beach comes fully equipped: real beds (queen or king in most Class C and Class A rigs), a full kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave and often an oven, a bathroom with shower and toilet, roof-mounted AC (critical here), propane furnace, dining and seating areas with seatbelts for travel, and a TV. Many hosts include a generator, outdoor speakers, and an awning. Wi-Fi varies: some rigs include a hotspot, others rely on your phone. Pro tip: ask your host about a beach kit add-on, many Amelia Island RV hosts stock chairs, umbrellas, and coolers, perfect for Main Beach Park days.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Fernandina%20Beach%2C%20Florida

What add-ons and options can I get with my Fernandina Beach RV rental?

Lots, and they make life easier. Popular add-ons from RVezy hosts in Fernandina Beach include delivery and setup, generator use, bike racks, kayak and SUP racks, beach gear kits, linen and kitchen packages, and pet cleaning fees. Exact pricing varies by host and is shown on each listing before you book. Pickup is usually self-serve from the host's address with a 30 to 60 minute orientation, and many hosts in the Yulee and Fernandina area offer flexible pickup windows. Pro tip: bundling delivery, setup, and linens turns your Amelia Island RV rental into a turn-key beach house experience for not much more money.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Fernandina%20Beach%2C%20Florida

How does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?

Simple and secure. Payment for your RV rental in Fernandina Beach is processed entirely through RVezy at checkout using a credit or debit card, never pay a host directly off-platform. A refundable security deposit is pre-authorized on your card before pickup and released after the trip once the host confirms there's no damage or excessive cleaning needed. Any host-specific add-ons (mileage overages, generator hours, dump fees) are reconciled after the trip. Pro tip: do a quick walk-around video at pickup and drop-off with your host, this 60-second habit prevents most deposit disputes and is the easiest way to ensure a smooth Amelia Island RV trip.
