2021 Thor Motor Coach Class C
Alex & Elena were super hosts! The RV was as described and perfect for our family of four, weeklong adventure to Acadia. Elena provided round trip pickup and drop off service to BOS, and was very friendly and personable sharing fun RV stories with one another. We would happily rent this RV and from these owners again!! Fantastic and reliable service- 5 stars!

Marcie and her van were great! Marcie is a very low key host - she is very responsive and was so flexible about pick up and drop off times. Her solar batteries weren't working before our trip and she made sure they were replaced in time. Everything worked great and the van ran great. We spent a week in Acadia in the van. It was small enough that we were able to take it anywhere (including Cadillac Mountain, which doesn't allow anything over 21 feet) and park it with ease most places. We were worried about the sleeping arrangements but we ended up being super comfortable. We never used the propane, but the A/C worked great.

Outstanding rental. RV was clean, linens were new, fully stocked with dishes and utensils. New camping chairs, new griddle cooktop. Owner left us with a wheeled tote for the grey/black tank which came in very handy after my wife took a 10 min shower and didn’t tell anyone. Had family games and probably 30 family movies on DVD. Perfect camper for a family, and owner was super responsive and kind. Highly recommend!

Jim was very kind and communicative. He provided great suggestions for our trip, and was helpful in quickly troubleshooting any of our questions or needs. The camper was incredibly easy to set up, and the perfect size for our family! Highly recommend Marty for your family camping adventures!

Working with Rob was wonderful. We had a medical issue that required a shift in dates and possible postponement and he could not have been more accommodating. We are new to rv travel and he gave thorough walk through, let me record it, and was also very available via text as we had questions on the trip. The rv itself is older, which greatly helped with containing the price and Rob is generous with mileage limits. Despite an older model, everything is clean and in good working order. The beds were very comfortable. We loved getting to try out the rv life and Rob was the perfect host to let us do so.

2023 Leisure Travel Vans Class B
My experience with this rental of a Leisure Travel Van-Unity model was extremely positive. This rig was well appointed and well kept. The attention to detail and quality is unmatched. My wife and I were very pleased how everything turned out. The owner’s assistance was thorough, helpful and delivered in a very professional manner. He provided a walkthrough which explained the proper operation and management of the entire vehicle, which was very much appreciated.

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Ellsworth, ME?
RV rental in Ellsworth is one of the most affordable ways to experience Acadia National Park, with most travel trailers booking from $95 to $185 per night and motorhomes typically ranging from $185 to $350 per night depending on size and season. Shoulder-season trips in late May, early June, and late September can save 20 to 30 percent off peak July and August rates while still giving you warm coastal days. For a cheap RV rental in Ellsworth, filter by travel trailers and look for hosts offering weekly discounts. Pro tip: booking a Sunday-to-Thursday stay can save you significantly during Bar Harbor's busiest weeks.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Ellsworth,%20MaineDo I need a special license to rent an RV in Maine?
Good news: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Ellsworth, with no commercial driver's license (CDL) or special endorsement required for the RVs available on RVezy. You'll need to be at least 25 years old with a valid license, and RVezy verifies your ID right through the platform during booking. Visiting from abroad? Bring your home country license along with an International Driving Permit from your local auto club before you fly into Bangor International Airport and you're road-ready for your Ellsworth RV trip.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat protection is included with my RVezy booking in Ellsworth?
Every RV rental in Ellsworth booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can roll toward Acadia with real peace of mind. The protection plan helps cover physical damage to the vehicle during your trip, and you choose your coverage level during checkout (not the host) so you can pick what fits your trip and budget. If you get a flat on Route 1A heading to Bar Harbor or need a tow on the Schoodic Peninsula, one phone call gets help dispatched. Full plan details are available on the RVezy website before you book.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat happens if I need to cancel my Ellsworth RV trip?
You can book your Ellsworth RV trip with confidence because RVezy, not the individual host, sets the cancellation policy across the platform. There's a money-back grace period right after booking, and additional protections apply for qualifying circumstances, which matters in a region that occasionally sees nor'easters or hurricane remnants in early fall. Because Maine weather can shift quickly, it's smart to lock in your dates early to secure your top-pick RV and review the current cancellation details on the RVezy website during checkout. That way you're protected whether plans change due to weather, work, or family.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on an Ellsworth RV trip?
Absolutely, a pet-friendly RV rental in Ellsworth is easy to find on RVezy, just turn on the Pet-Friendly filter when you search. Even better, Acadia National Park is one of the most dog-welcoming national parks in the country, with leashed dogs allowed on more than 100 miles of hiking trails and most carriage roads. Local campgrounds like Timberland Acres RV Park and Patten Pond Camping Resort welcome four-legged guests too. Pro tip: take your pup on the easy Jordan Pond Path or Ocean Path for postcard views, then cool off with a Bar Harbor lobster roll on a dog-friendly patio.
nps.gov/acad/planyourvisit/pets.htmCan the RV be delivered to my campground near Ellsworth?
Yes, RV delivery in Ellsworth is one of the most popular options on RVezy, and it's a game-changer if it's your first time renting an RV. Many hosts will drive the RV directly to Timberland Acres RV Park, Patten Pond Camping Resort, Lamoine State Park, or even into Acadia's Blackwoods or Schoodic Woods campgrounds, then level it, hook it up, and walk you through every system. You skip the stress of towing or maneuvering a big rig through downtown Bar Harbor traffic. Just use the Delivery filter when you search, and message the host to confirm the delivery fee and your campsite address.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Ellsworth,%20MaineHow does mileage work and how far can I drive from Ellsworth?
Most hosts in Ellsworth include a daily mileage allowance (commonly 100 to 150 miles per day), and you can find listings with RV rental with unlimited mileage by checking the listing details. You won't need huge miles for a classic Acadia trip, since Bar Harbor sits just 26 miles east, Schoodic Point is about 45 miles, and Blackwoods Campground is roughly 32 miles. Want a bigger loop? Bangor is 30 miles west, Camden Hills State Park is around 75 miles south, and Quoddy Head State Park (the easternmost point in the U.S.) is about 110 miles up the coast. Add up your route before booking and ask the host about an add-on mileage package if needed.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Ellsworth,%20MaineWhere are the best campgrounds near Ellsworth, ME?
You're spoiled for choice when it comes to RV camping in Ellsworth. Timberland Acres RV Park sits right in Ellsworth with full hookups and 50-amp service (open mid-May through mid-October), Patten Pond Camping Resort offers waterfront sites on a 749-acre pond, and Narrows Too Camping Resort in nearby Trenton is just minutes from the Acadia entrance. For a quieter, state-park vibe, Lamoine State Park sits on Frenchman Bay with Cadillac Mountain views. Inside Acadia, Blackwoods (5 miles south of Bar Harbor) and Schoodic Woods (the only park campground with electric hookups) are the gold standards. Book early, these fill up fast.
nps.gov/acad/planyourvisit/camping.htmWhen is the best time to visit Ellsworth in an RV?
Late June through early October is prime time for an Ellsworth RV trip, with summer highs averaging 75 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit and crisp evenings dropping into the 55 to 60 range, perfect campfire weather. July and August are the busiest months, while September and early October deliver legendary Acadia foliage, smaller crowds, and lower rates. Most local campgrounds operate from mid-May through mid-October, so plan within that window for full hookups. Local insider tip: aim for the last week of September when the maples around Eagle Lake light up red and orange but the popovers at Jordan Pond House are still being served.
weather.gov/gyx/I've never rented an RV before. Will I be okay driving around Ellsworth?
You're going to do great, first time renting an RV in the Ellsworth area is genuinely friendly territory. Roads here are well-maintained two-lane highways (Routes 1, 1A, and 3) without the steep mountain passes you'd face out west, and you'll get a full walkthrough at pickup where your host shows you every system, from leveling to dumping tanks. You can also message hosts before booking with any questions. Pro tip: if Bar Harbor's narrow summer streets feel intimidating, park the RV at your campground and use the free Island Explorer shuttle, which connects most campgrounds to Acadia trailheads and downtown Bar Harbor from late June through mid-October.
exploreacadia.com/What if I break down during my Ellsworth RV trip?
You're covered. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so if you get a flat tire on Route 3 heading into Bar Harbor or your battery dies at Schoodic Point, you're one phone call from help. The team can dispatch a tow, jumpstart, tire change, or lockout service wherever you are in Hancock County. Cell coverage is solid in Ellsworth and along Route 1, though it can be spotty inside Acadia or on the Schoodic Peninsula, so download offline maps before you go. Your host is also a great resource for advice on the specific RV you're driving.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat are the best road trips I can take from Ellsworth in an RV?
An RV road trip from Ellsworth opens up some of the most scenic coastline in North America. The classic loop is Ellsworth to Bar Harbor and Acadia (26 miles), then the quieter Schoodic Peninsula loop (about 45 miles via Route 1). Heading north, you can reach Lubec and Quoddy Head State Park, the easternmost point in the U.S., in roughly 2.5 hours. Southbound, Camden Hills State Park is about 75 miles down the coast for sweeping Penobscot Bay views. Cross-border travel into Canada (the New Brunswick border is about 90 miles from Ellsworth) is allowed by many hosts; message your host first to confirm, and remember Mexico travel isn't permitted on RVezy rentals.
visitmaine.com/things-to-do/scenic-drives/How should I budget for fuel on a Maine RV trip?
Fuel is the biggest variable cost on any Ellsworth RV trip, but it's easy to plan for. Maine gas prices typically run in the mid-$3 to low-$4 per gallon range, with stations in Ellsworth often a touch cheaper than Bar Harbor. Class C motorhomes average 8 to 10 miles per gallon (mpg), Class B campervans get 15 to 20 mpg, and a truck pulling a travel trailer usually lands around 10 to 12 mpg. For a typical 4-day Acadia loop covering 200 to 300 miles, budget roughly $80 to $150 in fuel. Pro tip: fill up at the Irving or Big Apple stations on High Street in Ellsworth before heading onto Mount Desert Island.
gasprices.aaa.com/?state=MEHow far in advance should I book a campground near Ellsworth?
Book your campground as early as possible, ideally 4 to 6 months ahead for July and August stays. Acadia National Park releases 90 percent of Blackwoods, Seawall, and Schoodic Woods reservations six months in advance on the 1st of each month at 10 a.m. EST through Recreation.gov, and they go fast. The remaining 10 percent drops 14 days ahead of arrival, which is your best shot at last-minute spots. Private parks like Timberland Acres and Patten Pond also fill up by early spring for peak weeks. Pro tip: set a calendar reminder for the monthly Recreation.gov release date and have your account logged in and ready.
recreation.gov/camping/campgrounds/232508What are driving conditions like around Ellsworth?
Driving around Ellsworth is straightforward, with well-paved highways and gentle coastal terrain rather than the steep grades you'd face in mountain states. The main thing to plan for is summer traffic: Route 3 between Ellsworth and Bar Harbor becomes a slow crawl on July and August weekends, especially mid-afternoon. Watch for height clearances under 12 feet in spots on Acadia's Park Loop Road (Acadia restricts RVs over 11 feet 8 inches at Blackwoods), and be alert for moose at dawn and dusk on inland routes like Route 9. Pro tip: drive into Acadia before 9 a.m. or after 4 p.m. to skip the worst congestion and snag better parking at trailheads.
nps.gov/acad/planyourvisit/oversized-vehicles.htmWhat amenities can I expect at campgrounds near Ellsworth?
Private campgrounds around Ellsworth like Timberland Acres, Patten Pond, and Narrows Too generally offer full hookups (water, 30/50-amp electric, and sewer), hot showers, laundry, Wi-Fi, and dump stations on site. Inside Acadia, Schoodic Woods is the only campground with electric and water hookups at many sites, while Blackwoods and Seawall offer flush toilets, potable water spigots, and a dump station but no individual hookups. Lamoine State Park has water and electric at select sites plus a dump station. Pro tip: top off your fresh water tank in Ellsworth before heading into Acadia, and use the dump station at Blackwoods on your way out to avoid a detour.
nps.gov/acad/planyourvisit/blackwoods-campground.htmWhat's typically included inside the RV itself?
Ellsworth rentals come ready to roll. Most motorhome rentals in Ellsworth and travel trailers on RVezy include a full kitchen (fridge, stove, microwave, sink, cookware), a bathroom with toilet and shower, real beds with linens (ask the host to confirm), heating and air conditioning, and seatbelted seating for travel. Many include a TV, Bluetooth stereo, outdoor awning, and a propane grill. Class A and Class C motorhomes typically have an onboard generator for off-grid power, and some hosts offer Wi-Fi hotspots as an add-on. Each listing spells out exactly what's included, and you can message the host to confirm specifics like a coffee maker or kids' bedding before you book.
nps.gov/acad/planyourvisit/camping.htmWhat add-ons should I know about for my Ellsworth RV rental?
Hosts in Ellsworth often offer thoughtful add-ons that make a family RV trip in Ellsworth way easier: kitchen kits, linen and towel packages, bikes (perfect for Acadia's 45 miles of carriage roads), kayaks, camp chairs, outdoor rugs, and portable generators. Delivery and setup is the most popular add-on; expect a flat fee plus mileage based on distance from the host. Mileage policies vary by host, with most allowing 100 to 150 free miles per day and a per-mile fee beyond that. Pickup and drop-off times are typically late morning to early afternoon. Pro tip: bundle the linen kit and bike rack when booking an Acadia trip, you'll thank yourself when you're cruising past Jordan Pond.
nps.gov/acad/planyourvisit/bicycling.htmHow do payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is simple and secure: you pay through the RVezy platform with a credit card, never directly to the host in cash. A security deposit is placed as a hold on your card before your trip begins, separate from your booking payment, and it's released back to you after drop-off assuming no damage or policy violations. The deposit amount varies by RV and is shown on the listing. To make sure your deposit is returned smoothly, take dated photos of the RV at pickup and drop-off, return it with the agreed fuel and propane levels, and use the dump station before bringing it back. Following the host's checklist is the easiest way to wrap up your Ellsworth trip stress-free.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksWhere can I park an RV in and around Ellsworth?
Knowing where to park an RV in Ellsworth saves you time and stress. Overnight parking is for campgrounds only; Ellsworth and Bar Harbor don't allow overnight street parking or sleeping in lots. For daytime stops, the Walmart Supercenter on Myrick Street in Ellsworth has large lot space for provisioning, and the Hannaford on High Street is RV-accessible. Inside Acadia, designated RV-friendly parking exists at the Hulls Cove Visitor Center, Sand Beach, and Jordan Pond, but spots fill by 9 a.m. in peak season. Pro tip: park your RV at your campground and hop the free Island Explorer shuttle into Bar Harbor and Acadia trailheads, you'll skip parking headaches entirely.
