RV & camper rentals in Newberry, MI

RV rental in Newberry is one of the more affordable ways to explore Michigan's Upper Peninsula. On RVezy, travel trailers commonly run about $90 to $180 per night, Class C motorhomes about $175 to $300 per night, and campervans about $125 to $225 per night, with pricing influenced by season, rig age, and included mileage. Because Newberry is a small gateway town to Tahquamenon Falls, you can often find better value than booking in Mackinaw City or Sault Ste. Marie. To score a cheap RV rental Newberry travelers love, book midweek, target shoulder seasons in late May or September, and compare delivered trailers against drivable motorhomes. A delivered travel trailer parked at Newberry Campground often beats the all-in cost of driving a motorhome yourself.

Good news: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Newberry, Michigan. The State of Michigan does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or any special endorsement for personal-use RVs, including Class A and Class C motorhomes, campervans, travel trailers, and fifth wheels available on RVezy. Approved drivers must generally be 25 or older, and your identity is verified through the RVezy platform during booking. Visiting from another country? Bring your home-country license along with an International Driving Permit (IDP) from your local auto association, and you are cleared to head straight for Tahquamenon Falls.

Yes. Every RV rental in Newberry booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can head into the Lake Superior State Forest with real peace of mind. You choose the protection level that fits your comfort during checkout (it is not set by the host), and the plan covers eligible physical damage to the RV during your trip. Roadside assistance handles flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, and towing on remote stretches of M-123. That built-in safety net is one big reason first-time renters feel confident exploring the Upper Peninsula with RVezy.

Booking your Newberry RV trip is low-risk. RVezy sets the cancellation policy for every reservation (it is not chosen by individual hosts), and there is a short money-back window right after you book so you can lock in dates with confidence. After that window, refund eligibility depends on how far in advance you cancel relative to your trip start date. If a host cancels on you, RVezy refunds your booking in full or offers travel credit so you can rebook another rig. Full terms are available on the RVezy Help Center and in your booking confirmation.

Absolutely. The Upper Peninsula is one of the most dog-friendly corners of Michigan, and finding a pet-friendly RV rental in Newberry is easy on RVezy: just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter to see hosts who welcome four-legged co-pilots. Leashed pets are allowed on trails in Tahquamenon Falls State Park, including the viewing areas at the Upper and Lower Falls, when kept on a six-foot leash. Newberry Campground and Kritters Campground both welcome dogs on their wooded sites. Pro tip: pack a tick check kit and an extra leash, since spring black flies near the Tahquamenon River can be intense in May and June.

Yes, and it's the easiest way to enjoy a stress-free first trip. Many RVezy hosts offer RV delivery Newberry guests love, dropping a travel trailer or fifth wheel directly at popular spots like Tahquamenon Falls State Park's Lower Falls Modern Campground, Rivermouth Modern Campground, Newberry Campground on M-28, or Kritters Campground just off M-123. Your host levels the rig, hooks up water and electric, and walks you through every system before you settle in. Use the Delivery filter on RVezy to view hosts who serve your specific site. That means zero towing, zero backing-in stress, and more time chasing waterfalls.

Yes. Many RVezy hosts in Newberry offer generous or fully unlimited mileage packages, which is a real bonus given how spread out UP attractions are. From Newberry, you'll cover about 25 miles to the Upper Tahquamenon Falls, 65 miles to Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in Munising, 75 miles to the Soo Locks in Sault Ste. Marie, and 100 miles to the Mackinac Bridge in St. Ignace. When comparing listings, check each host's mileage policy on the listing page and message hosts directly if you are planning a big loop. An RV rental with unlimited mileage takes the math out of your trip and lets you say yes to that bonus side road out to Crisp Point Lighthouse.

You have great options for RV camping Newberry travelers rave about. Lower Falls Campground inside Tahquamenon Falls State Park offers electric sites just steps from the cascades. Rivermouth Campground sits where the Tahquamenon River meets Lake Superior, ideal for paddlers and anglers. Newberry Campground on M-28 offers full hookups, a pool, and a dump station. Kritters Campground has grassy pull-through sites and is open year-round. For Lake Superior beach access, Muskallonge Lake State Park sits about 30 miles north. All Michigan state park sites require a Recreation Passport, available at the entry gate or when you book through MIDNRReservations.com.

Newberry shines in three very different ways. Peak summer from mid-June through late August brings warm days typically in the 70s, swimmable inland lakes, and every campground open: prime time for a family RV trip. Late September through early October lights up the maple, birch, and aspen along M-123, often called one of the best fall drives in the eastern U.S., with thinner crowds and lower nightly rates. Winter from December through March turns Newberry into snowmobile country with thousands of miles of groomed trails across the UP. Local tip: aim for the third week of September for peak foliage and far fewer black flies than in May or June.

Newberry is one of the easier places in Michigan for your first time renting an RV. Traffic is light, M-28 and M-123 are wide two-lane highways with generous shoulders, and there are no big-city merges to navigate. Every RVezy host provides a hands-on orientation at pickup, walking you through propane, water, electric, slides, and the dump process so nothing feels mysterious. You can message your host anytime before the trip through the platform, and 24/7 roadside assistance is included with every booking. Pro tip: ask for a delivered trailer at Newberry Campground for your first night so you can practice the systems before driving anywhere.

You are never on your own. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance through the renter protection plan, covering flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, and towing. Cell coverage gets spotty north of Newberry toward Lake Superior, so before leaving town, download offline maps and save the RVezy roadside assistance number to your phone. The Luce County Sheriff and the Michigan State Police Newberry Post are based right in town if you need local help, and your host is a quick message away through the platform. Pro tip: top off fuel and fresh water in Newberry before heading toward the Two Hearted River, since services thin out fast.

Possibly, but it depends on the host. Newberry sits less than 70 miles from the Sault Ste. Marie International Bridge into Ontario, so cross-border RV road trips from Newberry are a popular request. Some RVezy hosts allow Canada travel and arrange the right insurance documents in advance, while others restrict their rig to the U.S. only. Message the host directly from the listing before booking to confirm. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on any RVezy rental because insurance coverage does not extend there. Bring your passport or enhanced driver's license, and remember that propane tanks and the rig's specs may be inspected at the border.

Plan smart and fuel won't blow your budget. Most travel trailers towed by a half-ton truck get 10 to 13 miles per gallon (MPG), Class C motorhomes average 8 to 10 MPG, and campervans often hit 16 to 20 MPG. Regular gasoline in Newberry typically runs a bit higher than downstate Michigan because of the remote location, so fill up in town at the Holiday or Krist Oil before heading north. A full Newberry-to-Pictured Rocks-and-back loop is roughly 120 miles, an easy half-tank in most rigs. Pro tip: diesel pull-through pumps are limited in the eastern UP, so diesel motorhome renters should plan to refuel in Newberry or Sault Ste. Marie.

For peak summer (July and August) and any fall color weekend, book your Tahquamenon Falls State Park site as soon as you can. Michigan State Parks open reservations up to 6 months in advance through MIDNRReservations.com, and Lower Falls and Rivermouth Modern Campgrounds frequently fill on Fridays and Saturdays from late June through Labor Day. Private parks like Newberry Campground and Kritters typically need 1 to 3 months of lead time for summer weekends. Shoulder-season trips in May or late September often work with just 1 to 2 weeks of notice. Pro tip: pair an RVezy Instant Book listing with a 6-month state park reservation and you've locked your whole trip in one afternoon.

Driving an RV around Newberry is refreshingly relaxed. M-28 (the main east-west route) and M-123 (the Tahquamenon Scenic Byway north to Paradise) are paved, well-maintained, and lightly trafficked. Watch for white-tailed deer at dawn and dusk, and slow down for moose along M-123 between Newberry and the Lower Falls, sightings are surprisingly common. Winter conditions can include lake-effect snow squalls from November through April, so if you're winter camping, allow extra braking distance and check 511 Michigan for real-time road status. County roads leading to remote spots like the Mouth of Two Hearted River are unpaved and rough after rain, so plan accordingly with a smaller rig.

You'll find a strong mix of options. Newberry Campground and Kritters offer full hookups (water, sewer, 30 and 50 amp electric), free Wi-Fi, hot showers, laundry, and dump stations. Inside Tahquamenon Falls State Park, the Lower Falls and Rivermouth Modern Campgrounds offer electric sites and modern restrooms with showers, but no individual water or sewer at the site, you fill up at the entrance spigot and use the on-site sanitation station. Many state forest campgrounds north of Newberry are rustic, meaning vault toilets and hand-pumped water only. Pro tip: dump and refill water at the Tahquamenon Falls State Park sanitation stations (open mid-May to mid-October) before heading deeper into the wilderness.

Whether you book a campervan rental Newberry-style or a full motorhome rental Newberry travelers prefer, most RVezy listings come ready to camp. Expect a queen or king bed, kitchen with stove, sink, fridge, and microwave, a bathroom with toilet and shower, dinette seating with seatbelts for traveling passengers, climate control, and propane for cooking and heat. Many rigs include a generator or solar setup for boondocking, plus a TV and a few even offer Wi-Fi hotspots (handy because cell service fades north of Newberry). Each listing's amenities tab spells it all out clearly. Pro tip: filter by "sleeps 6+" if you want bunk-house options ideal for a family RV trip Newberry weekend.

Plenty, and they make life easier. Common RVezy add-ons in Newberry include linens and bedding packages ($25 to $75), camping kitchen kits, generators, propane refills, bikes or kayaks, and pet-cleaning fees if you're bringing a dog. Many hosts offer delivery and setup priced by mileage from their home base, and most provide flexible pickup and dropoff windows (typically 1 to 4 p.m. pickup, 11 a.m. dropoff). Mileage policies vary by listing, with included daily mileage ranging from 100 miles per day to fully unlimited. Pro tip: bundle delivery plus a kayak add-on and you can paddle directly from your campsite on the Tahquamenon River or Muskallonge Lake.

It is straightforward. When you book your RV rental in Newberry on RVezy, payment is processed securely through the platform, with no cash or checks handed to the host. A refundable security deposit is held by RVezy (not the host) and is released after dropoff once the rig is returned in the agreed condition. Deposit amounts vary by listing and are clearly displayed before you confirm the booking. To keep things smooth, take date-stamped photos of the RV inside and out at pickup and dropoff, follow the host's fuel and dump-station instructions, and keep all communication in the RVezy messaging thread so there is a clear record.

Yes, and it is an incredible Upper Peninsula experience. Newberry calls itself the Moose Capital of Michigan and connects to Michigan's extensive snowmobile trail network, making winter RV rentals a favorite among sledders. Some RVezy hosts keep four-season rigs available with heated holding tanks, enclosed underbellies, and propane furnaces built for sub-zero nights. Kritters Campground stays open year-round with electric hookups so you can run shore power and stay warm. Pro tip: ask your host specifically about heated tanks and skirting, and bring a heated water hose if you plan to stay connected to a campground spigot through February deep freezes.
