Julian is a great host, very flexible and responsive. He is very thoughtful with all the amenities in the RV, all the basics cleaning supplies, cookwares, toiletries and whatever you can find. The RV was cleaned and ready to go when we arrived. The Delano drives well and with lots of space once extended. We have a great trip.

rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Macedon%2C%20New%20YorkWhat license do I need to rent an RV in Macedon, NY?
Renting an RV in Macedon is refreshingly simple: your regular New York State driver's license (Class D) is all you need for every RV listed on RVezy, including Class A motorhomes and large fifth wheels. No commercial driver's license (CDL) or special RV endorsement is required in New York. You will need to be 25 or older to book, and RVezy verifies your identity right through the platform during checkout, so there is no paperwork at pickup. Visiting from outside the U.S.? Bring an International Driving Permit (IDP) along with your home license. First time renting an RV? Your host will give you a full walkthrough before you hit the road.
dmv.ny.gov/driver-license/driver-licensesIs protection included when I rent an RV in Macedon?
Yes, every motorhome rental in Macedon booked on RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can explore the Erie Canal Trail with peace of mind. RVezy offers multiple protection plan tiers that you choose at checkout (not the host), with coverage levels that vary in deductible and included benefits. Roadside assistance is included with every protection plan and covers common issues like flat tires, dead batteries, and lockouts. If you are planning to tow or drive through the hillier Finger Lakes back roads, consider a higher-tier plan for added peace of mind.

Booking an RV rental in Macedon, NY is low-risk because RVezy sets the cancellation policy (not the individual host), and it includes a money-back grace period right after you book. If a host cancels your booking, RVezy will help you rebook or provide a refund or travel credit. Book early to lock in the best summer dates for the Finger Lakes, and reach out to RVezy support anytime through the Help Center if you need a hand.

Absolutely, plenty of hosts offer pet-friendly RV rental Macedon options, and your dog will love the trip as much as you do. Just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy to see listings that welcome four-legged guests, and message the host before booking to confirm any pet fees or rules. Once you're here, head to Macedon's Canal Park along the Erie Canalway Trail, where leashed dogs are welcome on miles of flat, scenic towpath. Nearby, Mendon Ponds Park in Honeoye Falls (about 20 minutes south) has off-leash areas. Pro tip: pack a collapsible water bowl and a tie-out stake for campsite afternoons.
parks.ny.gov/recreation/pets/Can the RV be delivered to my campground or driveway in Macedon?
Yes, many RVezy hosts in the Macedon area offer RV delivery, making it easy to skip the driving entirely. Hosts will often deliver and set up your motorhome or travel trailer at popular spots like Cayuga Lake State Park or Fair Haven Beach State Park, or at your home address in Wayne County. Use the Delivery filter on RVezy to see which listings offer this service, and check the host's delivery radius and fee (often a flat rate plus per-mile charge beyond a set distance). This is the perfect option if it is your first time renting an RV, since the host pulls in, levels the unit, connects hookups, and gives you a full walkthrough.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Macedon%2C%20New%20YorkHow far can I travel on a Macedon RV trip?
You have a lot of road to roam on a Macedon RV trip. Most hosts include between 100 and 150 free miles per night, and some offer an RV rental with unlimited mileage, which is ideal for longer Finger Lakes loops. From Macedon you can reach Watkins Glen State Park in about 75 miles (1.5 hours), Niagara Falls in about 95 miles (1.75 hours), Letchworth State Park in about 65 miles (1.25 hours), and the Adirondacks in roughly 3.5 hours. Extra mileage usually runs $0.30 to $0.45 per mile. Pro tip: filter for unlimited mileage listings if you're planning a multi-stop Finger Lakes wine country tour.
parks.ny.gov/parks/watkinsglen/Where are the best campgrounds near Macedon, NY?
You are spoiled for choice with great RV camping near Macedon. Top picks include Cayuga Lake State Park in Seneca Falls (about 30 minutes south, with lakefront sites and electric hookups), Fair Haven Beach State Park (about 45 minutes northeast on Lake Ontario), Lakeside Beach State Park in Waterport (about 1 hour northwest along Lake Ontario), and Letchworth State Park (often called the Grand Canyon of the East, with electric sites). For something closer, Hejamada Campground & RV Park in Macedon offers full-hookup sites just off Route 31. New York State Parks book up fast for summer weekends, so reserve early through ReserveAmerica.
parks.ny.gov/parks/cayugalakeWhen is the best time to rent an RV in Macedon, NY?
The sweet spot for RV camping Macedon is mid-May through mid-October, when daytime highs run from the upper 60s°F in spring and fall to the upper 70s°F to low 80s°F in July and August. July is the warmest month, averaging a comfortable 78°F high and 62°F low. September is the local insider favorite: warm days, crisp nights in the 50s°F, smaller crowds, and the start of stunning Finger Lakes fall foliage. Winters here are genuinely cold with lake-effect snow, so most hosts pause rentals from December through March. Pro tip: book a late-September trip for grape harvest season at nearby Finger Lakes wineries.
weather.gov/buf/I've never driven an RV before. Will I be okay?
You'll do great, and Macedon is actually a friendly place to start. First time renting an RV? Every RVezy host provides a hands-on walkthrough at pickup, showing you how to operate the slide-outs, hookups, propane, generator, and waste system, and they're just a text away during your trip. The roads around Macedon are mostly flat and rural, with wide shoulders along Route 31 and the New York State Thruway (I-90) just minutes away, making it easier to build confidence than driving in a hilly city. Pro tip: ask your host about a Class B campervan rental Macedon option or a smaller Class C if you're nervous, then graduate to a bigger rig on your next trip.
dmv.ny.gov/driver-license/driving-skills-testWhat happens if I have a breakdown or issue on the road?
You're covered around the clock. Every RV rental in Macedon, NY booked through RVezy includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection package, so if you get a flat tire, dead battery, or lockout on the Thruway or out near Sodus Bay, help is one phone call away. For mechanical questions specific to the RV, your host is your direct line and usually responds within minutes. RVezy support is also available through the Help Center before, during, and after your trip. Pro tip: snap a quick photo of your tire pressures and propane tank levels at pickup, so you have a baseline if anything seems off later.
dot.ny.gov/divisions/operating/oom/transportation-systems/repository/511NYCan I take my Macedon RV rental across state lines or into Canada?
Yes, an RV road trip from Macedon opens up a huge region. Driving across state lines into Pennsylvania, Vermont, Massachusetts, or down to Washington, D.C. is allowed and your protection package travels with you. Cross-border travel into Canada (Niagara Falls Ontario is just 1.5 hours away) may be allowed, but it depends on the host and the protection package you choose, so message the host directly before booking to confirm and arrange any documentation. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because protection coverage doesn't extend there. Pro tip: bring your passport just in case the Canadian side of Niagara is on your route.
cbp.gov/travel/us-citizens/know-before-you-go/your-tripWhat kind of fuel economy and gas budget should I plan for?
Budgeting for fuel is straightforward once you know your rig. Class B campervans get around 18 to 22 miles per gallon (MPG), Class C motorhomes average 8 to 12 MPG, Class A motorhomes run 6 to 10 MPG, and trucks towing travel trailers usually land around 10 to 14 MPG. Gas prices in the Macedon and Rochester area typically run about 10 to 20 cents above the national average due to New York state fuel taxes, so check stations along the I-90 Thruway for the most competitive prices. Pro tip: download GasBuddy before your trip and fill up in nearby Palmyra or Newark, which often beat Thruway service-area pricing by 30 cents or more per gallon.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book campgrounds near Macedon?
Book early and you'll have your pick of the best campgrounds near Macedon, NY. New York State Parks like Cayuga Lake, Lakeside Beach, and Letchworth open reservations exactly 9 months in advance through ReserveAmerica, and prime summer weekends (especially July 4th and Labor Day) often sell out within hours. For private RV parks like Hejamada Campground or Cheerful Valley, aim for 2 to 3 months ahead in summer, or 2 to 3 weeks in shoulder season. Pro tip: midweek arrivals (Sunday through Wednesday) almost always have openings even in peak season, and you'll save 10 to 20 percent versus weekend rates.
parks.ny.gov/camping/What are local driving conditions like around Macedon?
Driving an RV around Macedon is genuinely manageable, even for newer renters. The terrain is mostly gentle rolling farmland with the flat Erie Canal corridor running right through town, and the New York State Thruway (I-90) is just 10 minutes away for east-west travel. Watch for low railroad bridges on older village streets in Palmyra and Newark (some clear only 11 to 12 feet, so know your RV height before you go), and be ready for lake-effect snow squalls from November through March if you travel in shoulder season. Summer thunderstorms can pop up fast off Lake Ontario. Pro tip: use the truck-route setting on Google Maps or download CoPilot RV for height-aware routing.
dot.ny.gov/main/business-center/engineering/specifications/updated-standard-specifications-usWhat amenities will I find at campgrounds near Macedon?
You'll find well-equipped sites at most local campgrounds, which makes RV camping Macedon a breeze. New York State Parks like Cayuga Lake and Lakeside Beach offer electric hookups (20/30/50 amp), potable water fill stations, dump stations, hot showers, and flush restrooms, though full sewer hookups at individual sites are less common in state parks. Private parks like Hejamada Campground in Macedon and Cheerful Valley in Phelps offer full hookups (water, electric, sewer) plus Wi-Fi and laundry. For dumping on the road, the Flying J in Pembroke and several state park dump stations are open to non-campers for a small fee. Pro tip: top off fresh water before leaving any state park since fill stations can be busy on departure mornings.
parks.ny.gov/camping/rv-trailer-camping.aspxWhat features and amenities come standard in a Macedon RV rental?
You'll be impressed by what's included. Most RVs in Macedon come fully equipped with comfortable beds (sleeping 2 to 8 depending on size), a full kitchen with stove, oven, microwave, fridge and freezer, a bathroom with toilet and shower, climate control (air conditioning and propane furnace), and seatbelted seating for travel. Many listings also include a TV, Bluetooth stereo, outdoor awning, and an onboard generator for boondocking. Wi-Fi is usually BYO via your phone hotspot or a hotspot add-on from the host. Pro tip: check the listing's amenity list and read the most recent reviews on RVezy to confirm what's included, and ask the host about extras like camping chairs, bikes, or kayaks, which are popular Erie Canal Trail add-ons.
nps.gov/erie/planyourvisit/things2do.htmWhat add-ons and pickup options can I expect when I rent an RV in Macedon?
Hosts in Macedon offer a great mix of add-ons to tailor your trip. Common extras include kitchen kits ($30 to $75), linen and bedding packages ($25 to $50), generator use (often $5 to $10 per hour beyond a free allotment), bike racks, kayaks, and portable grills. Pickup is usually at the host's home in or near Macedon, with delivery available from many listings for a fee based on distance. Mileage policies typically include 100 to 150 free miles per night, with overage charged around $0.30 to $0.45 per mile, and some hosts offer unlimited mileage. Pro tip: bundling add-ons with one host is often cheaper than renting gear separately, so ask about a package rate when you message them.
nps.gov/wari/index.htmHow does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is simple and secure: you pay through RVezy at booking with a credit or debit card, and your funds are held safely until your trip begins, so you never hand cash to the host. A refundable security deposit (typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV) is placed as a pre-authorization hold on your card before pickup and released after your trip, assuming the RV is returned in the same condition. To avoid any deposit issues on your RV rental in Macedon, NY, take walkaround photos or video at pickup and dropoff, return with the same fuel and propane levels, and empty the tanks if your host requires it.
