2023 Heartland Travel Trailer
This is the first time I rented an RV and I'm glad it was with this RV owner. He was very attentive to our needs (rained all week/had to leave early due to tropical storm). The only concern I had was with the amount of people it fits...claims it sleeps 8, but really it sleeps 6. The couch bed is very small and cannot sleep two people (unless they are children). The bed (that is made from the table) is super small and really can only fit a small child or pet. The pictures show a blackstone grill but that is not included (no biggie), just bring your own. I would rent from this owner again.

What protection or insurance is included with my Jacksonville RV rental?

You're covered from the moment you book. Every motorhome rental in Jacksonville booked on RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can head out on NC-24 toward Swansboro or US-17 toward Wilmington with peace of mind. Can the RV be delivered to my campground or house in Jacksonville?

Yes, and it's one of the smartest ways to start your trip. Many RVezy hosts offer RV delivery in Jacksonville, meaning they'll drive the RV directly to your driveway, a local campground like Silver Sands RV Park, or a vacation rental near North Topsail Beach, then set up the awning, hookups, and slide-outs and walk you through every system. This is ideal if it's your first time renting an RV or if you'd rather skip driving a 30-foot motorhome through Jacksonville traffic on Western Boulevard. Just use the Delivery filter when you search. Pro tip: ask your host about delivery to nearby state and private parks before booking.

What are the best campgrounds near Jacksonville, NC?

Some of the best campgrounds near Jacksonville, NC are within easy reach. Top picks include Hammocks Beach State Park in Swansboro (about 19 miles southeast), Silver Sands RV Park near North Topsail Beach, White Oak Shores Camping and RV Resort on the White Oak River, and Goose Creek Resort on the Crystal Coast. Across these you'll find a mix of full-service private resorts and quieter state-park settings for RV camping in Jacksonville. Pro tip: book Hammocks Beach sites up to 6 months in advance through the North Carolina State Parks reservation system, summer weekends fill fast.

When is the best time of year for an RV trip in Jacksonville, NC?

The sweet spot is April through early June and again from mid-September into November, when Jacksonville's humid subtropical climate cools off and the bugs thin out. Daytime highs in April and October hover in the mid-70s F, while July and August can climb into the upper 80s and low 90s F with high humidity and frequent afternoon thunderstorms. Winters are mild (highs in the upper 50s F), so even December and January can work for an RV camping Jacksonville getaway if your rig has a furnace. Pro tip: Atlantic hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30, so booking in late September means watching forecasts, but you'll get great beach weather and far fewer crowds.

I've never rented an RV before, will I be okay driving one in Jacksonville?

You're going to do great. Jacksonville is one of the easier places for a first time renting an RV because the main routes (US-17, NC-24, and Western Boulevard) are wide, flat, and well-marked, with no mountain passes or tight historic districts. Every RVezy host provides a full walkthrough at pickup covering driving, hookups, the generator, slide-outs, and dumping tanks, and you can message them anytime during your trip. Plus, 24/7 roadside assistance is included with every booking. Pro tip: choose a Class C motorhome or a smaller travel trailer for your first trip, they drive much like a large pickup truck and parking at coastal campgrounds is a breeze.

What happens if the RV breaks down during my Jacksonville trip?

You're never on your own. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so whether you get a flat on NC-24 heading to Swansboro, a dead battery at White Oak Shores, or a generator issue near Hammocks Beach, one phone call gets help dispatched. You can also message your host directly in the RVezy app, hosts know their rigs and can often troubleshoot small issues over the phone. RVezy's customer support team is available before, during, and after every trip. Pro tip: save the roadside number in your phone before you pull out of the host's driveway.

Can I take my Jacksonville RV rental into other states or across the border?

Yes, an RV road trip from Jacksonville can cross state lines. Most RVezy hosts welcome travel throughout the continental US, so South Carolina's Myrtle Beach (about 3 hours south), Virginia Beach (about 3.5 hours north), and Savannah, GA (about 5 hours south) are all in range. Travel into Canada may be allowed depending on the host and insurance, so message them before booking if you're planning a northern loop. Travel to Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because insurance coverage does not extend there. Pro tip: a popular long route is Jacksonville to the Smoky Mountains via Asheville, roughly 6.5 hours west.

What kind of fuel mileage should I budget for in Jacksonville?

Budgeting fuel is easier than you'd think. Class B campervans average 18 to 22 miles per gallon (MPG), Class C motorhomes typically get 10 to 14 MPG, and Class A coaches usually return 7 to 10 MPG. Travel trailers don't burn fuel themselves, but your tow vehicle's efficiency drops noticeably (often around 25 percent) while pulling one. Gas prices in Jacksonville generally track close to the North Carolina state average. For a typical 300-mile weekend exploring the Crystal Coast in a Class C, plan on around 22 to 30 gallons of regular unleaded. Pro tip: fuel up in Jacksonville before heading to Hammocks Beach, prices often climb closer to tourist areas.

How far in advance should I book a campground near Jacksonville?

Booking early is your best friend on the North Carolina coast. State parks like Hammocks Beach release reservations up to 6 months ahead through the North Carolina State Parks system, and summer weekends (Memorial Day through Labor Day) often sell out within days. Private parks like Silver Sands RV Park and White Oak Shores typically book directly through their own websites and start filling up 2 to 3 months in advance for peak season. Shoulder-season trips in April, May, October, and November are much more relaxed, you can often grab a site a week out. Pro tip: if Hammocks Beach is full, try Flanners Beach Campground in the Croatan National Forest as a great backup.

What are driving conditions like around Jacksonville with an RV?

Driving is refreshingly easy here. Jacksonville sits on the flat North Carolina coastal plain, so you won't encounter steep grades or hairpin turns, and the main RV-friendly routes (US-17 Bypass, NC-24 to Swansboro, and US-258) are four-lane and well-paved. Watch for two things: heavy weekday traffic near Camp Lejeune's gates around 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., and afternoon thunderstorms in summer that can drop heavy rain quickly. The high-rise bridge on NC-172 to Sneads Ferry replaced the old swing bridge, so most coastal routes flow without bridge openings. Pro tip: skip downtown Jacksonville with anything over 25 feet and use the bypass instead.

What amenities will I find at campgrounds near Jacksonville?

Coastal North Carolina campgrounds are well-equipped for a great RV trip. At parks like Silver Sands RV Park and White Oak Shores you'll find full hookups (30 and 50 amp electric, water, and sewer), bath houses with hot showers, laundry, dump stations, picnic tables, and fire rings. Many add pools, dog parks, and Wi-Fi. Hammocks Beach State Park offers electric and non-electric sites plus a dump station. For potable water fills and dumping on the road, most major truck stops along US-17 are reliable. Pro tip: bring a 25-foot drinking-water hose and a sewer-hose support, coastal sites can have pedestals set back from the pad.

What's actually inside the RVs I can rent in Jacksonville?

You'll be surprised how well-equipped modern RVs are. Most rigs listed on RVezy in Jacksonville include real beds (queen or king), a kitchen with stove, oven, microwave, fridge and freezer, a private bathroom with shower and toilet, dinette seating, air conditioning, furnace, and seatbelts for every passenger listed on the booking. Many add a flat-screen TV, Bluetooth stereo, outdoor shower, and an onboard generator for off-grid power. Wi-Fi varies, some hosts include a hotspot, others leave it to you. Class A and large Class C motorhomes often add slide-outs that nearly double the living space. Pro tip: filter by sleeps count and check listing photos to confirm bed layout, especially for a family RV trip in Jacksonville with kids.

What add-ons and pickup options should I know about?

Hosts make customization easy. Popular add-ons for a Jacksonville RV trip include linen and kitchen kits (often 50 to 100 dollars), camp chairs and outdoor tables, portable grills, bike racks, generators, and pet packages. Pickup is typically at the host's location in or around Jacksonville, with delivery available to local campgrounds, Albert J. Ellis Airport (OAJ), or Camp Lejeune-area addresses for a fee that scales with distance. Mileage policies vary by listing, some offer unlimited, others a daily cap with a small per-mile overage charge. Pro tip: read the add-ons section carefully before booking, bundling a linen kit and outdoor package often costs less than buying gear separately for a weekend.

How does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?

Payment is simple and secure. When you book a campervan rental in Jacksonville or any other RV on RVezy, you pay through the platform with a credit or debit card, no cash changes hands with the host. A refundable security deposit (typically several hundred to a couple thousand dollars depending on the rig) is placed as a hold on your card before pickup, separate from your booking payment, and is released after your trip ends assuming no damage. To avoid issues, take time-stamped photos and video of the RV at pickup and drop-off, follow the host's mileage and generator-hour policies, and return the RV with the same fuel and propane levels. Pro tip: use in-app messaging to keep a written record of any agreements with your host.
