Yes, every RVezy booking in Moore includes a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can hit I-35 with real peace of mind. What's the best time of year to take an RV trip from Moore, OK?

The sweet spot for a Moore RV trip is mid-March through late May, and again mid-September through early November, when daytime highs sit in the comfortable 65 to 80F range and humidity is manageable. I've never driven an RV before, will I be okay starting in Moore?

You will be just fine, and Moore is an excellent place for first-time renters. The terrain around Moore is famously flat, I-35 is wide and well-maintained, and most local roads have generous shoulders, so there is no mountain driving or tight switchbacks to worry about. Every RVezy host provides a hands-on orientation at pickup, walking you through propane, water, the generator, slide-outs, and dump procedures. You can also message your host any time during the trip with questions. Pro tip: practice a few right turns and a parking-lot reverse in a large empty lot off I-35 before heading to your first campground, you will feel confident in 20 minutes.

Yes, interstate travel is welcome and popular. Most Moore hosts allow trips across Oklahoma and into neighboring states like Texas, Kansas, Arkansas, Missouri, and New Mexico, so an RV road trip from Moore to Big Bend, the Ozarks, or Santa Fe is doable. Confirm your planned route with the host through the RVezy message thread before booking, since a few hosts set mileage caps or specific state boundaries. One important note: travel into Mexico is not permitted on any RVezy rental because the protection plan does not extend there. Popular interstate routes from Moore include I-35 south to Dallas-Fort Worth (200 miles) and I-40 east toward Arkansas.

Gas prices in the Moore and Oklahoma City metro typically run below the national average, with stations like the Love's Travel Stop on I-35 and the QuikTrip on 19th Street popular fuel-ups for RVers. Expect roughly 8 to 10 MPG for a Class A, 10 to 14 MPG for a Class C, 16 to 20 MPG for a campervan rental Moore travelers love, and 12 to 16 MPG when towing a travel trailer. How far ahead should I book a campground near Moore?

For the smoothest trip, book your campground as soon as you confirm your RV dates. Oklahoma State Parks (including Lake Thunderbird) open reservations up to 11 months in advance, and popular holiday weekends like Memorial Day, July 4, and Labor Day fill up 4 to 6 months out. Private parks like Twin Fountains RV Resort and Oklahoma City East KOA usually have more availability and can often be booked 2 to 4 weeks ahead. Pro tip: if you are hoping to camp at Lake Murray or Beavers Bend during fall foliage season (mid-October to early November), reserve in spring, those weekends sell out fastest.

What are driving conditions like around Moore, OK?

Driving an RV around Moore is easy thanks to flat terrain, straight roads, and well-engineered highways. I-35 cuts through Moore with wide lanes and truck-friendly exits, and the local 19th Street, 4th Street, and Telephone Road corridors handle big rigs without issue. The two things to plan around are weather and wind: severe spring thunderstorms (April through June) can bring high crosswinds and hail, so check the National Weather Service Norman radar before driving, and if a tornado warning is issued, head to a sturdy shelter, not the RV. Local insider tip: avoid I-35 northbound through Moore at 5 p.m. on weekdays, take Santa Fe Avenue as a smooth parallel route.

Private parks like Twin Fountains RV Resort, Roadrunner RV Park, and Oklahoma City East KOA offer full hookups (30/50-amp electric, water, and sewer at the site), Wi-Fi, hot showers, laundry, and dump stations. Oklahoma State Parks such as Lake Thunderbird typically provide 30- or 50-amp electric plus water at the site, with central dump stations rather than per-site sewer. Potable water fills are available at every state park entrance. Pro tip: many Love's Travel Stops in the Moore area offer dump stations and water fills for paying customers, a handy mid-trip pit stop before heading home.

Moore is in Tornado Alley, what should I know about weather safety on my RV trip?

Smart question, and with a little planning, severe weather rarely derails a Moore RV trip. The National Weather Service forecast office is based in Norman (10 minutes south of Moore) and provides excellent storm tracking, so download their alerts before you leave. RVs are not safe shelters during tornadoes, so every Oklahoma State Park has a designated storm shelter (usually the bathhouse or office), and Lake Thunderbird, Arcadia Lake, and OKC East KOA all post shelter locations at check-in. Local insider tip: peak tornado risk is mid-April through May, so consider booking March or October for the calmest skies.
