2018 Coachmen Class C
Adam made this experience seamless. From the many questions we had before our trip to prepare and during even though we rented on a holiday weekend he was quick to respond anytime. This RV made it so nice to travel a long distance with 5 family members and 4 dogs and we were comfortable the whole trip. The RV interior was very easy to get the animal hair out as well at the end. We wanted to spend our last road trip with our girl (dog) so this was extra special to us to get to do this as many hotels do not allow her size. Threw in some of our own pillows, dog fencing and gas grill since our kiddos allergic to wood and it was perfection! Gas mileage was exactly as Adam advised as well making it easy to budget for gas. Will be renting from him again!

What kind of fuel mileage should I expect, and how should I budget for gas?

Plan smart and fuel won't blow your budget. Travel trailers don't burn fuel themselves, but your tow vehicle typically gets 8 to 12 MPG while towing. Class B campervans average 18 to 22 MPG, Class C motorhomes run 8 to 12 MPG, and Class A coaches average 6 to 10 MPG. Tennessee gas prices are consistently among the lowest in the country, so a tank fill in McKenzie is friendlier than most U.S. cities. For a 300-mile round trip in a Class C, budget roughly $100 to $130 in fuel. Pro tip: fuel up in McKenzie or Huntingdon before heading into Land Between the Lakes, where stations are sparse.

For the best sites, book early, especially around Kentucky Lake. Tennessee State Parks (including Paris Landing and Nathan Bedford Forrest) open reservations up to 12 months in advance through the official state park reservation system, and prime summer weekends fill within days of opening. KOA Paris Landing and private parks typically take reservations 6 to 9 months ahead. For a relaxed midweek stay in spring or fall, you can often book 2 to 4 weeks out and still have great options. Pro tip: target Sunday-through-Thursday arrivals for easier availability and lower rates at every campground near McKenzie.
