We had a great experience with Levi and his staff. The RV was well stocked and clean and comfortable. Everything we expected and more. We had the RV delivered by Colin and he was so accommodating. He set everything up for us and all we had to do was show up and enjoy our weekend. We would definitely rent from them again.

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Blacksburg, VA
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Blacksburg, VA?
RV rental in Blacksburg is one of the most affordable ways to explore the New River Valley and Blue Ridge Mountains. On RVezy, you can expect to pay roughly $90 to $150 per night for a travel trailer, $150 to $225 for a Class C motorhome, and $200 to $350 for a Class A. Hokie home game weekends (especially fall football Saturdays) and peak fall foliage in mid-October are the priciest times, so booking 2 to 3 months ahead saves real money. For a cheap RV rental in Blacksburg, target shoulder seasons like late April or early November, filter for travel trailers, and message hosts about weekly discounts. Pro tip: midweek pickups often unlock lower nightly rates.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Blacksburg%2C%20VirginiaWhat do I need to rent an RV in Blacksburg, Virginia?
Good news: renting an RV in Blacksburg is refreshingly simple. You'll need to be 25 or older with a valid driver's license, and a regular Class D license is all Virginia requires, no commercial driver's license (CDL) or special RV endorsement, even for a 35-foot Class A. International visitors can drive on a valid home-country license paired with an International Driving Permit (IDP). Once you book, RVezy verifies your identity right inside the platform, so there's no DMV trip or paperwork hassle. Most first-time renters are surprised how quickly they're cleared to hit the road toward the Blue Ridge Parkway or Claytor Lake.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsIs my RV rental in Blacksburg protected if something goes wrong?
Yes, and that's one of the best parts of booking through RVezy. Every RV rental in Blacksburg includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you're covered for most damage to the vehicle and have backup if you get a flat on Route 460 or lose power deep in Jefferson National Forest. During checkout you choose your level of protection (not the host), so you can pick the coverage that matches your comfort level. It's not traditional auto insurance, but it gives you serious financial peace of mind. Translation: you can focus on the views from the Blue Ridge Parkway, not the what-ifs.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat's the cancellation policy if my Blacksburg RV trip plans change?
You have flexibility, that's the short version. RVezy (not the individual host) sets the cancellation policy, and it includes a money-back grace period right after booking so you can lock in your dates without overcommitting. After that, refund eligibility depends on how far out you cancel and circumstances like severe weather, which matters here since the Blue Ridge can throw a surprise ice storm in March or remnants of a tropical system in September. You can review the full policy details on RVezy before you confirm. Book with confidence, then nail down your Hokie game weekend or Cascades hike plans.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on an RV rental in Blacksburg?
Absolutely, Blacksburg is a fantastic dog town and plenty of hosts offer pet-friendly RV rentals here. Just use the Pet-Friendly filter when you search, and you'll see rigs whose owners welcome four-legged co-pilots (some charge a small pet fee or deposit, listed right on the page). Once you're rolling, dogs are welcome on leash at Pandapas Pond, the Huckleberry Trail, and most sites at Claytor Lake State Park. Camping at Pembroke's Cascades trailhead area? Dogs love the creekside hikes. Pro tip: pack a tie-out and a collapsible water bowl, mountain afternoons get warm even in October.
dcr.virginia.gov/state-parks/claytor-lakeCan the RV be delivered to my campground or rental house in Blacksburg?
Yes, RV delivery in Blacksburg is one of the smartest moves for first-timers and game-weekend visitors. Many hosts will drive the RV to your campsite at Claytor Lake State Park, a friend's driveway in town, or a tailgating area near Lane Stadium, then set it up, level it, hook up water and power, and walk you through every system. That means zero stress about backing a 30-foot rig into a wooded site. Filter by Delivery on RVezy to see hosts who offer it, and message them for a delivery quote based on miles from their location. It's the easiest way to do an RV trip from Blacksburg.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Blacksburg%2C%20VirginiaHow far can I drive on a Blacksburg RV trip, and is unlimited mileage available?
You've got real range from Blacksburg. Many hosts include 100 to 150 free miles per night, and some offer RV rental with unlimited mileage (look for that note on the listing or just message the host before booking). For reference, the Blue Ridge Parkway entrance at Adney Gap is about 35 miles, Roanoke is 42 miles, New River Gorge National Park in West Virginia is roughly 110 miles, Great Smoky Mountains National Park is about 250 miles, and Shenandoah National Park sits around 215 miles northeast. Extra miles typically run $0.30 to $0.45 each. Plan your loop, then pick the mileage package that matches.
nps.gov/blri/index.htmWhere are the best campgrounds near Blacksburg to park an RV?
You're spoiled for choice. Top picks for RV camping near Blacksburg include Claytor Lake State Park (about 25 miles south, full hookups, lake swimming, boat ramp), New River Junction Campground in Pembroke (riverside tubing right at your site), Rocky Knob Campground on the Blue Ridge Parkway (mile marker 167, no hookups but unbeatable mountain views), Dixie Caverns Campground in Salem (about 30 miles east, full hookups year-round), and Interstate Travel Park in Wytheville for easy I-81 access. For a smaller, scenic spot, try Chantilly Farm in Floyd. Book Claytor Lake through Virginia State Parks reservations as early as you can, especially for summer weekends.
dcr.virginia.gov/state-parks/claytor-lakeWhen is the best time to rent an RV in Blacksburg, VA?
Late April through October is prime time for RV camping in Blacksburg, with the absolute sweet spot running from mid-September through late October when fall foliage on the Blue Ridge peaks. Summer highs sit around 82 to 84°F with cool mountain nights in the low 60s, perfect for campfires. Spring brings wildflowers and rhododendron blooms at Cascade Falls. Winters are genuinely cold (January lows in the low 20s°F with snow on higher elevations), so most renters target April to early November. Local insider tip: avoid the weekend of Virginia Tech home football games unless that's your goal, lodging and traffic spike fast.
weather.gov/rnk/I've never driven an RV before. Is renting in Blacksburg a good place to start?
Honestly, yes. First time renting an RV is way less intimidating than it sounds, and Blacksburg's mix of wide rural roads, low-traffic state highways like Route 460, and nearby flat campgrounds makes it beginner-friendly. Every RVezy host gives you a hands-on walkthrough at pickup covering the slide-outs, water and waste tanks, propane, generator, and leveling. You can also message your host any time during the trip. If you're nervous about driving, book a smaller Class C or a travel trailer (or pick delivery so the host parks it for you). Pro tip: start with a two-night trip to Claytor Lake, it's an easy 35-minute drive.
dmv.virginia.gov/drivers/What happens if I break down or need help during my RV trip from Blacksburg?
You're never on your own. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so if you get a flat on the Blue Ridge Parkway, a battery dies at Mountain Lake, or you need a tow off Route 8 toward Floyd, one phone call gets help dispatched. RVezy's customer support team is also available before, during, and after every trip, and your host is just a message away for quick questions like resetting a tripped breaker. Cell service can get spotty in Jefferson National Forest hollows, so screenshot the roadside number before you head out.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Blacksburg RV rental across state lines or to other national parks?
Yes, interstate travel is welcome on most RVezy bookings, which makes Blacksburg an awesome launchpad for a multi-state RV road trip. From Blacksburg you can be in West Virginia in 30 minutes, North Carolina in about 90 minutes, and Tennessee in roughly three hours. Popular routes include the full Blue Ridge Parkway down to Asheville (about 230 miles of pure scenic driving), New River Gorge National Park in WV (110 miles), and Great Smoky Mountains (250 miles). Just confirm with your host when booking. Note: travel into Mexico is not permitted, and Canadian travel may require extra approval, so message the host first.
nps.gov/neri/index.htmWhat kind of fuel mileage and gas budget should I plan for?
Plan smart and fuel won't break your budget. Class C motorhomes around Blacksburg average 8 to 12 mpg, Class A rigs come in around 6 to 10 mpg, campervans (Class B) get 14 to 20 mpg, and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle. Virginia gas prices typically run slightly below the national average, and stations along I-81 in Christiansburg, Dublin, and Wytheville tend to be cheapest. For a 4-day, 400-mile loop in a Class C, budget roughly $130 to $180 in fuel. Pro tip: fill up in Christiansburg before heading up the Blue Ridge Parkway, prices climb at mountain-town stations.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Blacksburg?
Sooner is better, especially for state parks and Blue Ridge Parkway sites. Claytor Lake State Park opens reservations 11 months in advance through Virginia State Parks (reservevaparks.com), and prime summer and fall weekends fill within days. National Park Service campgrounds like Rocky Knob on the Blue Ridge Parkway book through recreation.gov, also 6 months out. Private parks like New River Junction and Dixie Caverns are easier and often have midweek availability even in peak season. For Hokie home football weekends, book everything (RV plus campsite) 4 to 6 months ahead. Insider tip: Tuesday through Thursday arrivals are far easier to snag.
reservevaparks.com/What are the driving conditions like around Blacksburg?
Mostly very manageable, with one heads-up: this is mountain country. I-81 and Route 460 are wide, well-maintained, and handle large RVs easily. Route 8 to Floyd and the Blue Ridge Parkway itself are scenic but narrow and winding, with the Parkway officially limiting vehicles to 30 feet and discouraging anything over 25 feet on the tightest sections. Watch for sudden fog on Brush Mountain, deer at dawn and dusk, and occasional winter ice above 2,500 feet elevation between December and March. Downtown Blacksburg has some low-clearance bridges near campus, so stick to main routes. Take it slow on the parkway, that's the whole point anyway.
virginiadot.org/travel/What amenities will I find at campgrounds near Blacksburg?
You'll find solid infrastructure across the New River Valley. Most full-hookup parks (Dixie Caverns, New River Junction, Fort Chiswell RV Park) offer 30/50-amp electric, water, sewer, free Wi-Fi at many sites, hot showers, laundry, and on-site dump stations. Claytor Lake State Park has electric and water hookups plus a centrally located dump station and potable water fill. Blue Ridge Parkway campgrounds like Rocky Knob are dry camping only (no hookups), so fill your fresh tank before arriving and use the dump station on the way in or out. Pro tip: there's a public dump station at Claytor Lake State Park even for day-trippers passing through.
dcr.virginia.gov/state-parks/claytor-lakeWhat's included inside a typical RV rental in Blacksburg?
More than you'd expect. A typical motorhome rental in Blacksburg comes with a full kitchen (fridge, stove, microwave, sink), a bathroom with shower and toilet, sleeping for 4 to 8 people, climate control, and seatbelted seating for travel. Most Class C and Class A rigs include a generator for off-grid power, a TV, and many hosts add Wi-Fi hotspots or Starlink as an option. Campervans (Class B) are cozier but include the essentials. Linens, kitchen kits, and outdoor chairs are often offered as add-ons by the host. Check each listing's amenities list, and message the host if you want something specific like a coffee maker or kids' booster seats.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Blacksburg%2C%20VirginiaWhat add-ons and pickup options should I know about?
Hosts in Blacksburg make trips easy with smart extras. Common add-ons include linen and bedding kits ($30 to $60), kitchen packages, generator use ($3 to $5 per hour beyond included hours), bike racks, outdoor grills, camping chairs, and propane refills. Pickup is usually at the host's home in Blacksburg, Christiansburg, or Radford, but many offer delivery to Claytor Lake, the Cascades trailhead, or game-day tailgate lots near Virginia Tech. Mileage policies vary, typically 100 to 150 free miles per night with extras around $0.35 each, and unlimited mileage rentals do exist. Pro tip: ask about a generator package if you're heading to Rocky Knob or anywhere without hookups.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Blacksburg%2C%20VirginiaHow does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is straightforward and secure. When you book your RV rental in Blacksburg through RVezy, you pay the rental cost upfront via credit card through the platform (never directly to the host, which protects both sides). A refundable security deposit, typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV, is held separately from your booking payment and released after return assuming no damage or excess cleaning. To avoid issues, do the walkthrough carefully at pickup, take dated photos of any pre-existing scratches, follow the host's mileage and generator rules, and return the rig clean with the gas tank as agreed. Easy in, easy out, then you're free to enjoy the New River Valley.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksCan I winter camp in an RV near Blacksburg?
You sure can, and a winter motorhome rental in Blacksburg is a quiet, beautiful experience most travelers never try. Several local hosts list four-season RVs with heated tanks, enclosed underbellies, and propane furnaces built for the New River Valley's cold snaps (January lows hit the low 20s°F, and snow is common above 2,000 feet). Year-round campgrounds include Dixie Caverns in Salem and Fort Chiswell RV Park in Max Meadows, both with full hookups so you can run shore power without freezing your fresh water hose. Filter for four-season or winter-ready rigs, ask the host about a heated water hose, and pack layers. Snowy mornings on the Blue Ridge are unforgettable.
