We had a fantastic experience with Obi’s RV. It is a great RV, in excellent condition and really easy to drive and stay in. It is comfortable and spacious and Obi’s communication was excellent. Both he and his wife are lovely people and were incredibly helpful and thoughtful throughout the whole experience from booking through to return. I would highly recommend.

Far and away a better experience than we could have hoped for. Sassy was the PERFECT RV for us. Very clean, adequate space (2 adults and a dog), well stocked with useful items and just all around fantastic. We traveled from CT to West Virginia, the trip just wouldn't have been the same without such comfortable accommodations. The couple was informative and incredibly flexible and accommodating with our unique schedule. We truly cannot say enough good things about our experience. We're already beginning to plan our next trip with Sassy. Thanks so much!!

Hibiscus was amazing! It was nice and clean when we rented it and was fully stocked with everything you would need while camping dished, cookwares, silverware, and even chairs and an outdoor rug! Gary and his wife made sure that we would have a great trip. It was super easy to hook it up and the camp grounds. How much does it cost to rent an RV in Chantilly, VA?

RV rental in Chantilly is an affordable alternative to a hotel plus rental car near Dulles. Motorhomes near Chantilly average around $200 per night, while towable trailers and pop-ups typically run closer to $120 per night. Many hosts offer 10 to 20 percent weekly and monthly discounts, so longer stays bring the nightly rate down significantly. Do I need a special license to rent an RV in Chantilly, Virginia?

Good news: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Virginia for personal recreational use, even for larger motorhomes. Virginia does not require a Commercial Driver's License for recreational vehicles used for personal purposes, so your standard license covers Class A, Class B, and Class C motorhomes on RVezy. To book on RVezy you generally need to be at least 25 years old, and your ID is verified through the platform during checkout. Visiting from abroad? Bring an International Driving Permit alongside your home-country license. No endorsements or special test required, just pack and go.

When is the best time of year for an RV trip from Chantilly?

Spring (April to early June) and fall (mid-September through late October) are the sweet spots for RV camping in Chantilly, with daytime highs in the 60s and 70s and cool, comfortable nights. October is excellent for Shenandoah fall foliage along Skyline Drive, so book campgrounds 4 to 6 months out. Summer (June to August) is hot and humid with highs around 85 to 90F and afternoon thunderstorms, but it's prime time for waterparks and lake camping. Winter (December to February) sees occasional snow and many campgrounds close, though Bull Run and a few others stay open year-round for hardy campers. Tip: late September often balances warm days, cool nights, and lighter crowds.

Bull Run Regional Park in Centreville books through NOVA Parks and fills 2 to 4 months ahead for summer weekends. Virginia State Parks open reservations 11 months in advance at virginiastateparks.gov. For a last-minute Chantilly RV trip, target Sunday-through-Thursday stays or look at first-come, first-served sites at Lewis Mountain in Shenandoah. Tip: set a calendar reminder for the exact day reservations open.

What's driving an RV in and around Chantilly actually like?

It's very manageable once you know the local quirks. Chantilly sits right off Route 28 and US-50, with quick access to I-66 west toward Shenandoah and the Dulles Toll Road east toward D.C. Avoid I-66 inside the Beltway during weekday rush hours (roughly 6 to 9 AM eastbound and 4 to 7 PM westbound) when express lane and toll rules apply and traffic crawls. Skip downtown D.C. entirely in an RV (low clearance, no parking), park at a campground and take Metro instead. Skyline Drive in Shenandoah has a 35 mph limit and gentle curves, ideal for a relaxed scenic RV drive. Tip: leave Chantilly before 7 AM or after 10 AM to dodge traffic heading west.

What amenities should I expect at campgrounds near Chantilly?

Most campgrounds near Chantilly offer solid amenities, though full hookups vary. Bull Run Regional Park has electric and water at every site with a central dump station and clean bathhouses with hot showers. Cherry Hill Park (about 35 miles east in College Park, MD) is a full-hookup resort with WiFi, a pool, and shuttle service to D.C. Shenandoah's Big Meadows has no hookups but offers a dump and fill station, flush toilets, and showers. Most parks have potable water on-site for filling fresh tanks. For dumping en route, the Flying J near Winchester and Camping World near Manassas both offer dump services. Tip: arrive with full fresh water if your site is electric-only.

What's actually inside the RVs available in Chantilly?

Chantilly RV rentals are like small apartments on wheels. Expect a full kitchen (fridge, freezer, stove, microwave, sink), a bathroom with toilet and shower, sleeping for 2 to 8 people depending on the rig, air conditioning, furnace heat, and a dining area that often converts to an extra bed. Many motorhome rentals near Chantilly include a TV, and some have WiFi boosters or hotspots (handy in spotty-signal areas of Shenandoah). Motorhomes have seatbelts for travel, generators for boondocking, and freshwater, gray, and black tanks. Campervan rentals in Chantilly are more compact but still include a bed, small kitchen, and often a portable toilet. Tip: check the listing's photos and amenity list, hosts list every feature, including outdoor grills and bike racks.

Common options include delivery and setup ($2 to $5 per mile), generator hours, propane refills, camping chairs and outdoor mats, bedding and linen packages ($25 to $75), kitchen kits, bike racks, kayaks or paddleboards, and even pre-stocked groceries. Pickup is usually at the host's home in Chantilly, Centreville, Herndon, or Fairfax, and dropoff is typically at the same location unless you arrange one-way (message the host to ask). Mileage policies range from 100 free miles per day to RV rental with unlimited mileage, all clearly shown on each listing. Tip: bundle delivery, setup, and linens for first-time renters, it's the closest thing to a turnkey vacation.

How does payment and the security deposit work?

Payment is simple and secure through RVezy, no cash and no awkward exchanges with the host. You pay the full trip cost (rental, fees, protection plan) by credit card at booking through the RVezy platform. A refundable security deposit (typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV) is held separately from the booking payment and is released after your trip if there's no damage or excessive cleaning needed. Tip: do a thorough walkthrough video with the host at both pickup and dropoff in Chantilly, it's the single best way to avoid deposit disputes.
