Campgrounds and RV parks near Caplan, QC

Caplan is a small municipality on the north shore of Baie-des-Chaleurs in the Gaspé Peninsula, roughly halfway between Carleton-sur-Mer and Bonaventure along Route 132. The area is set up for RV travel: most campgrounds sit on or near the bay, with serviced sites, beach access, and easy highway frontage. Camping Ruisselet, in Caplan itself, is perched on the cliffs above the bay and offers full hookups, pull-through sites, a heated pool, laundry, and a path down to the beach. A short drive west, Camping De La Pointe-Taylor in New Richmond is part of the Parc régional de la Petite-Cascapédia and offers serviced and unserviced sites at the mouth of the Petite rivière Cascapédia. Le Camping and Camping Murraywood round out the Quebec-side options closer to Caplan. For travellers extending into northern New Brunswick, Jacquet River Campground is the next significant stop south across the bay. The Parc national de la Gaspésie and its Chic-Choc mountains are about a 90-minute drive inland.

Private campgrounds on this part of the Gaspé coast, including Camping Ruisselet, Camping De La Pointe-Taylor, Le Camping, and Camping Murraywood, take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone. Many are also listed on Camping Québec, which acts as a directory rather than a central booking engine. For the Quebec construction holiday in late July and the first two weeks of August, waterfront sites with full hookups should be booked several months in advance. If the plan includes a side trip into Parc national de la Gaspésie or another SEPAQ park, those campsites are reserved through SEPAQ's online system, with summer-season camping bookings typically opening on a single weekend in early November the preceding year. Across the bay in New Brunswick, Jacquet River Campground takes its own reservations. A confirmed booking is recommended before arrival in July and August.
