Options closest to town lean toward small-scale, wooded settings. The Austin F. For travelers who want fuller hookups and family-oriented amenities, Sodom Mountain Campground, Southwick Acres Campgrounds, and Prospect Mountain Campground and RV Park are all within roughly a half-hour drive across the state line in Southwick and Granville, Massachusetts.

State-forest sites on both sides of the border use ReserveAmerica. Reservations at Granville State Forest are required with no walk-in camping, and sites can be booked up to four months in advance or same-day until 2 p.m. Connecticut state campgrounds, including American Legion, use the same platform through the state's contract, with reservations available up to 11 months ahead and a 14-day maximum stay. Minimum rental at American Legion cabins is two nights. Private parks such as Sodom Mountain Campground, Southwick Acres Campgrounds, and Prospect Mountain Campground and RV Park take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone, and holiday weekends often sell out weeks or months ahead. Massachusetts prohibits the transportation of firewood into or out of any DCR campground, so firewood must be purchased on site. Similar restrictions apply in Connecticut.
