Campgrounds and RV parks near Pemberwick, CT

Pemberwick sits in southwestern Connecticut just inside Greenwich, minutes from the New York state line and roughly 30 miles from Manhattan. The closest developed campgrounds are not in Connecticut itself but a short drive across the border into New York's Lower Hudson Valley and the New York City metro area, where several state and national park units accept RVs. The nearest option, Beaver Pond Campground, sits inside the 46,000-acre Harriman State Park in Rockland County, directly adjacent to the Lake Welch Recreation Area. Farther north in Putnam County, Pelton Pond at Clarence Fahnestock State Park offers a wooded setting along the park's rock ridges, with sites that include a picnic table and fire ring. For visitors who want an urban base, Floyd Bennett Field inside Gateway National Recreation Area sits on Brooklyn's Jamaica Bay, and Liberty Harbor RV Park occupies a waterfront lot in Jersey City with Manhattan skyline views. Farther east on Long Island's south shore, Heckscher State Park rounds out the options with sites near the Great South Bay.

New York State Parks, which includes Beaver Pond, Pelton Pond at Clarence Fahnestock, and Heckscher, all use the ReserveAmerica system. Camping reservations can be made up to 9 months in advance, with sites released at the 9-month window at 8AM Monday through Friday and 9AM weekends from March 15 through Labor Day. Reservations can be made online or through the ReserveAmerica Call Center, and walk-ins are permitted on campsites only. Floyd Bennett Field is a National Park Service site and books through Recreation.gov, up to six months in advance, with a 14-night maximum stay. Liberty Harbor RV Park is privately operated and takes reservations directly through its website or by phone; summer weekends fill early and should be booked well ahead.
