Campgrounds and RV parks near Quinnipiac University, CT

New Haven anchors the local sightseeing. Yale's campus, museums, and the Wooster Street pizza scene are all within a short drive. Sleeping Giant State Park, directly across from Quinnipiac, has a well-known tower hike and a network of family-friendly trails. Families staying at Bear Creek Lake Compounce Campground are within walking distance of Lake Compounce, America's oldest amusement park, along with the adjacent water park, and campers receive discounted admission tickets. Portland Riverside Campground puts campers on the Connecticut River for fishing and small-boat launching, with Middletown just across the water. Branch Brook Campground and Gentile's Campground are within easy reach of Black Rock State Park, Mattatuck State Forest, and the Naugatuck River corridor for hiking and exploring the Litchfield hills.

Camping in south-central Connecticut is a warm-season activity. Most private parks open in spring and close by late fall, and state park campgrounds run on a similar calendar.
