Campgrounds and RV parks near South Woodstock, CT

South Woodstock sits in Connecticut's Quiet Corner, a rural stretch of northeastern Windham County shaped by rolling hills, farmland, and the Last Green Valley National Heritage Corridor. RV renters use the area as a low-traffic base between Hartford and Providence, with I-84 to the west and Route 44 running through nearby Pomfret. Options cluster within a short drive of town. Mashamoquet Brook State Park has 53 campsites across two separate campgrounds. The Mashamoquet Brook Campground is the smaller of the two, in a more densely wooded area with no running water or showers, while the Wolf Den Campground comes with running water and showers. Meadowside Woodstock Inc, Chamberlain Lake Campground, and Beaver Pines Campground are privately operated properties in Woodstock itself, while Charlie Brown Campground sits a short drive southwest in Eastford along the Natchaug River. Private parks in this area tend to focus on wooded sites with water and electric hookups; full sewer hookups are less common, and campers should plan to use dump stations.

State park sites at Mashamoquet Brook are booked through ReserveAmerica, and reservations must be made at least 48 hours prior to the camping stay. Camping reservations are accepted 11 months in advance until 2 days prior to arrival at this campground. Reservations are required and no walk-ins are allowed. Private campgrounds, including Meadowside Woodstock Inc, Chamberlain Lake Campground, Beaver Pines Campground, and Charlie Brown Campground, take bookings directly by phone or through their own websites. Many hold a mix of transient and seasonal sites, so transient inventory is limited on peak weekends. Before booking, confirm rig length, hookup type, and pet policy. Pets are not allowed at the Mashamoquet Brook state campground. Cancellation windows and fees vary between the state system and private operators.
