Campgrounds and RV parks near Westbrook Center, CT

Westbrook Center sits on the Connecticut shoreline along Long Island Sound, roughly midway between New Haven and New London and directly accessible from Interstate 95. The town is a practical base for RV travelers who want beach access, Connecticut River day trips, and quick drives to inland state parks in Middlesex and New London counties. Camping options in the area include the large state-run campground at Hammonasset Beach State Park in nearby Madison, Connecticut's largest shoreline park with more than two miles of sandy beach along Long Island Sound, private family campgrounds such as Riverdale Farm CampSites and Wolf's Den Family Campground within an easy drive inland, and Eastern Long Island Kampground across the Sound for travelers combining the trip with a ferry crossing. Gillette Castle State Park, upriver in East Haddam, is a popular day-use stop rather than a campground. Hookup availability varies. At Hammonasset, 88 sites offer electric and water hookups, while the remainder are non-hookup grassy sites; private parks in the region typically offer full or partial hookups suitable for larger rigs.

Hammonasset Beach State Park reservations are handled through Reserve America and can be made up to 11 months in advance, with a maximum stay of 21 consecutive days. Reservations must be made at least one day ahead of arrival. Between stays, all campers and camping equipment must leave the campground for 5 days before returning. Private campgrounds including Riverdale Farm CampSites, Wolf's Den Family Campground, and Eastern Long Island Kampground take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone, and holiday weekends often require multi-night minimums. Bookings for peak July and August weekends should be made as early as the reservation window opens. Cancellations do appear closer to arrival, so checking availability regularly can turn up last-minute openings.
