Campgrounds and RV parks near Garnavillo, IA

Garnavillo sits in Clayton County in northeast Iowa's Driftless Area, a region of unglaciated bluffs, hardwood forests, and deep river valleys along the Upper Mississippi. The town is a practical base for RV trips into the Mississippi River corridor, with the port town of Guttenberg roughly ten minutes east and McGregor and Marquette a short drive north. Campground options range from full-hookup private parks to state park campgrounds on both sides of the river. Boulder Creek Campground and River of Lakes Campground and Resort sit across the river in Grant County, Wisconsin, offering RV-focused amenities. Deer Run Resort provides another private option on the Iowa side. Public campgrounds add scenic river-bluff camping. Pikes Peak State Park, north of Garnavillo above McGregor, overlooks the confluence of the Wisconsin and Mississippi rivers. Directly across the water, the Homestead campground at Wyalusing State Park offers a second bluff-top vantage of the same confluence. Together these give RV renters a mix of private-park comfort and state-park scenery within a short drive.

Iowa and Wisconsin state parks use separate reservation systems, so plan by park. Reservations at Pikes Peak State Park are made through the Iowa DNR online system, and the campground accepts reservations March 1 through November 30, up to 11:59 pm CST on the day of arrival. Iowa reservations can be made up to three months in advance of the arrival date. For Wyalusing State Park, campers must make a reservation before setting up on any site, either online or by calling 1-888-947-2757. Reservations can be made up to 11 months in advance. A select number of sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis at the Homestead campground, including the non-reservable electrical sites. Private parks such as Boulder Creek Campground, River of Lakes Campground and Resort, and Deer Run Resort take reservations directly through their own websites or phone lines.
