To the northwest, Lake Anita State Park, dedicated in 1969, is one of the most popular outdoor recreation facilities in southwest Iowa, with a 1,062 acre park featuring a 171 acre artificial lake formed by damming a branch of the Nishnabotna River. North of Greenfield, Springbrook State Park encompasses 930 acres of rolling hills, mature timber, a small lake and abundant wildlife in Guthrie County, with most buildings constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s.
For private options with more resort-style amenities, Shady Brook Camping and RV Adventures, LLC and the Des Moines West KOA Holiday round out the nearby choices.

Iowa state park campgrounds around Greenfield follow a consistent operating calendar. The campgrounds are 100 percent reservable and accept reservations April 1 through October 31 until 10:00 pm CST the day of arrival, and are closed each year from November 1 through March 31. Peak season runs May 1 through October 15, with shoulder pricing in April and the second half of October.
Modern facilities are tied to weather rather than the calendar. Park staff generally try to have the water on and shower buildings and dump stations open by May 1, and start closing them down around mid-October depending on the weather. Campers interested in April or late October should call the park to confirm, since there is no guarantee modern facilities will be available in those shoulder weeks.
Summer weekends fill fast, especially at lake-facing sites. Private parks such as Des Moines West KOA Holiday operate a longer season and often host themed weekends into fall.
How to book campgrounds near Greenfield

Reservations can be made at iowastateparks.reserveamerica.com or through the reservation call center at 1-877-427-2757. A nonrefundable cancellation fee applies to any cancellation, and cancellations made one day before arrival also forfeit one night's camping fee, so confirm dates before booking.
Des Moines West KOA Holiday and Shady Brook Camping and RV Adventures, LLC take reservations directly through their own websites and phone lines.
