Federalsburg sits in Caroline County on Maryland's Eastern Shore, along Marshyhope Creek and within easy driving distance of the Choptank River corridor. The area is flat, wooded, and rural, with small-town amenities and a mix of state, private, and group-run campgrounds within a short drive. RV renters use it as a quiet base for Delmarva paddling, fishing, and beach day trips to the Delaware and Maryland coasts. The closest public campground with RV facilities is Martinak State Park, on the Choptank River just south of Denton. Private options in the area include Holiday Park Campground, Woodlawn Camp Ground, and G and R Recreation Campground. Camp Todd, on Lake Williston near Denton, is a Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay property that also opens to outside groups for lodge and cabin rentals. Most sites in the region accommodate travel trailers and motorhomes of standard length, with 30-amp electric common at the state park and full hookups available at some private parks. Water access, shade, and proximity to small towns are the recurring draws.

Martinak State Park is reserved through the Maryland State Parks reservation system at parkreservations.maryland.gov, or by calling 1-888-432-CAMP. Sites can be booked up to 365 days in advance. The campground has 63 sites in two loops, with 30 offering 30-amp electric hookups. There are no water or sewer hookups at individual sites, but potable water is available around each loop and a dump station with water fill is on the property. Holiday Park Campground, Woodlawn Camp Ground, and G and R Recreation Campground are private and book directly through their own offices. Camp Todd is managed by the Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay and, for outside groups, is bookable through Campspot. Summer weekends and holiday periods fill first; booking eight to twelve weeks ahead is safer for peak dates.
