Campgrounds and RV parks near Hebron, MD

Water activities dominate the region. Sandy beaches, swimming, fishing and crabbing are standard at the Nanticoke and Chesapeake-side parks, and Roaring Point Waterfront Campground has a fishing pier and small beach on the river. Assateague Island National Seashore, home to the wild horses and Atlantic surf, is under an hour east. Inland, families use Salisbury for the Salisbury Zoo and Pemberton Historical Park, and the town of Berlin for shopping and dining. Sun Outdoors Ocean City Gateway runs a peak-season shuttle to the beach and to its sister resort Sun Outdoors Frontier Town, which offers a water park and a Western-themed experience. Cyclists get flat, low-traffic country roads, and paddlers can launch on the Nanticoke, Wicomico, and Pocomoke rivers for calm-water kayaking.

The Lower Eastern Shore has a humid subtropical climate. Summers are hot and humid, with July highs averaging around 84°F at the Salisbury station. Peak RV season runs Memorial Day through Labor Day, with weekends around Independence Day and Ocean City events booking out first. Reserve well ahead if a trip is timed to summer weekends. Spring and fall are the value windows. Temperatures are comfortable, biting insects are lighter, and coastal campgrounds are open but not full. Rainfall tends to peak from July to September, with August the wettest month. Late-summer and early-fall storms can bring tropical moisture, so watch the National Hurricane Center outlook when booking in late summer and early fall. Winter is quieter. Many private parks close or reduce operations: Roaring Point Waterfront Campground operates April through November, and Sun Outdoors Ocean City Gateway is open seasonally March through November. Confirm dates directly with the campground before planning a shoulder-season or winter trip.

Expect flat terrain, sandy soil, and mosquitoes in the warmer months, especially after rain. Bring repellent, and use full hookups where possible in July and August so the air conditioning can run without interruption. The area mixes two styles of park. Waterfront and rural campgrounds tend to be smaller and more traditional: Roaring Point Waterfront Campground is a smaller park with the majority of sites measuring 50 by 50 feet, and amenities are basic but functional. Larger resorts like Sun Outdoors Ocean City Gateway carry a fuller amenity package: planned activities, miniature golf, playgrounds, a fishing pond, a dog park, and a pump track for skateboards, scooters, and bicycles. Cell service is generally solid along the US-50 corridor and lighter on the river spurs. Grocery runs mean a drive to Salisbury or Berlin from most sites.
