Camping near Marlboro Village, Maryland
Marlboro Village sits in Prince George's County, about a half hour southeast of Washington, D.C., and puts RV travelers within easy reach of the National Mall, the Chesapeake Bay, and Annapolis. The area functions as a base camp for capital-region trips rather than a wilderness destination, so campground choices lean toward full-hookup RV parks and one nearby state forest.
The closest extended-stay option is Adventure Bound Camping Resorts - Washington DC in Lothian, offering full-hookup campsites, cabins, and RV rentals. To the south, Cedarville State Forest covers 3,510 acres at the headwaters of Zekiah Swamp, with camping, pavilions, and 19 miles of hiking trails. Northwest of the village, Greenbelt Park Campground is a National Park Service site about 10 miles from Washington, D.C., known for its wooded setting and affordable rates.
For resort-style stays, Cherry Hill Park has RV and tent sites, log cabins, cottages, yurts, and glamping pods, plus mini golf, fishing, a hot tub, and an on-site cafe. Farther northeast, Washington DC / Capitol KOA Holiday in Millersville provides full hookup sites, tent areas, and rental cabins within reach of both DC and Annapolis.
Things to do near Marlboro Village
Most trips center on Washington, D.C. attractions: the Smithsonian museums, the National Mall, and the monuments are all within easy driving or transit distance. Cherry Hill Park runs buses to Metro and organizes sightseeing tours, which removes the stress of driving and parking downtown.
Closer to camp, Cedarville State Forest offers hiking trails, mountain biking, and a fishing pond. Greenbelt Park's forested loops draw deer and chipmunks, with mountain laurel blooming in May and about 9 miles of trails to explore. Annapolis, the Chesapeake Bay waterfront, and Baltimore's Inner Harbor are also within an hour, making seafood day trips and harbor tours realistic add-ons.
Families staying at resort-style parks get pools, splash areas, and mini golf on site, which helps break up long museum days for younger kids.

Spring and fall are the most comfortable windows for RV travel in this part of Maryland. Cherry blossom season in late March and April brings a surge of DC-bound campers, and sites at parks with shuttle or transit access fill early. Summer is hot and humid with frequent afternoon thunderstorms, but it is peak season for family travel and pool amenities.
Camping options narrow in the cooler months. Cedarville State Forest's family campground is open from April through October, so winter and early-spring visitors need to look elsewhere. Greenbelt Park Campground, by contrast, is open year-round, as are Cherry Hill Park, the Capitol KOA, and Adventure Bound Washington DC.
Winter camping is viable but primitive-leaning at Greenbelt, where there are no water or electric hookups. Full-hookup resorts remain the most practical choice from December through February, especially for RV renters who need reliable power for heat.

Overall good time. Gray and black water were 2/3 full though and would have been nice to be empty. WiFi was ok in location but sometimes didn’t work. Maybe suspension does need a look over not horrible but slightly loose. Fresh water all the way full would be nice also. I tried to leave it cleaner than I got it as well for the delay on drop off but made sure to get here early this am.

We had such a fantastic time in this RV. It was in ideal size for our family of 5. We travelled from Maryland, through ohio, Indiana, Kentucky and Tennessee. It was nice to drive and didn't feel too big. Clean throughout and no major issues. The host was very helpful and responded super quick to queries. We hope to rent again in the future.

How to book campgrounds near Marlboro Village
Reservation systems vary by park. Cedarville State Forest reservations can be made by calling 1-888-432-2267, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, or online at parkreservations.maryland.gov. From Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day there is a two-night minimum stay, and holiday weekends require a three-night minimum.
Reservations for campsites at Greenbelt Park must be made online at Recreation.gov or by calling 1-877-444-6777, and sites can be booked up to six months in advance. Cherry Hill Park, the Capitol KOA, and Adventure Bound Washington DC handle bookings directly through their own websites.
Book well ahead for cherry-blossom weeks, Memorial Day, July 4th, and October fall-color weekends, when DC-area demand spikes.
What to expect on arrival
Hookups and site types differ sharply between parks. Greenbelt Campground is primitive with no water or electric hookups, but flush toilets, drinking water, hot showers, and a dump station are available to registered campers. RV length limits are posted per site on Recreation.gov, and low-hanging branches on the narrow loop can challenge larger rigs.
At Cedarville, inner-loop sites have electric while outer-loop sites are primitive, with a central bathhouse and water spigots throughout the loop. Cherry Hill Park and the Capitol KOA offer full hookups, on-site laundry, camp stores, pools, and family activity areas.
Cell service is generally reliable on Verizon and AT&T. Ticks are common in wooded loops during spring and summer, so pack repellent. Firewood should be sourced locally to prevent the spread of tree-killing pests.

Travel trailers typically run $90 to $160 per night, Class C motorhomes range from $175 to $295, and larger Class A rigs go from $250 to $450. nps.gov/subjects/cherryblossom/bloom-watch.htmDo I need a special license to rent an RV in Maryland?
Good news: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Marlboro Village. Maryland does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or any special endorsement for personal RVs, even larger Class A motorhomes you might take on a Chesapeake Bay road trip. RVezy approved drivers are generally 25 or older with a valid license, and your ID is verified securely through the platform when you book. International visitors can drive with their home country license plus an International Driving Permit (IDP), which usually costs under $25 from your local auto club. Most first-timers tell us the verification process took about ten minutes.

dnr.maryland.gov/publiclands/Pages/southern/CedarvilleCamping.aspxWhen is the best time of year to plan an RV trip from Marlboro Village?
April through early June and mid-September through October are the sweet spots for a Marlboro Village RV trip. Spring brings comfortable highs in the 60s and 70s and the iconic DC cherry blossoms, while fall offers crisp 60 to 75 degree days and stunning foliage along the Patuxent River. July and August get hot and humid with highs near 87 degrees and afternoon thunderstorms, so book an RV with strong air conditioning and full shore power if you're traveling then. Winter is mild but chilly with January averages around 40 degrees high and 28 low, so look for a four-season rig with heated holding tanks if you go off-season.
weather.gov/lwx/I've never rented an RV before. How does the pickup and walkthrough work?
You're in great hands, especially as a first time renting an RV. Every RVezy host provides a hands-on orientation at pickup (or at delivery if they're bringing the rig to you), walking you through the generator, slide-outs, water hookups, propane, awning, holding tanks, and the dashboard. Most walkthroughs run 30 to 60 minutes, and hosts encourage questions. You can also message the host through the platform any time during your trip if something comes up. Many Marlboro Village hosts even provide a printed cheat sheet and short video tutorials. Pro tip: record the walkthrough on your phone so you have it for reference at the campsite.
nps.gov/subjects/camping/rv-camping.htmWhat happens if the RV breaks down during my trip?
You are never stranded. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so if you have a flat tire, dead battery, lockout, or mechanical issue on Route 301, the Capital Beltway, or anywhere else, one phone call gets help dispatched. Your host is also a direct line of support and most respond within minutes through in-app messaging. RVezy customer support is available around the clock before, during, and after your trip. Save the roadside number in your phone before you leave Marlboro Village and snap a photo of the RV's VIN sticker so you have it handy if you ever need it.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I drive my Marlboro Village RV rental into other states or Canada?
Yes, interstate travel is allowed and one of the best parts of an RV road trip from Marlboro Village. You are well positioned to reach Virginia (Shenandoah National Park is about 2.5 hours), Pennsylvania (Gettysburg is about 90 minutes), the Delaware beaches (about 2 hours), or Harpers Ferry, West Virginia (about 90 minutes). Cross-border travel to Canada is possible on many rentals but requires advance host approval and may affect protection coverage, so message the host before booking. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because insurance coverage does not extend there. For any cross-border trip, carry your passport and written permission from the host.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat should I budget for fuel on a Maryland RV trip?
Fuel is the second biggest line item after the rental itself, but it's easy to estimate. Class B campervans get 18 to 22 miles per gallon (MPG), Class C motorhomes average 10 to 14 MPG, and Class A rigs average 7 to 10 MPG. Maryland gas prices typically run a few cents above the national average, often around $3.30 to $3.70 per gallon for regular unleaded according to the Maryland Energy Administration. A weekend trip from Marlboro Village to Assateague Island (about 290 miles round trip) in a Class C burns roughly 25 gallons, so budget around $90 in fuel. Pro tip: fill up at the Costco on Robert Crain Highway in Bowie before heading out, it's usually the cheapest in the area.
energy.maryland.gov/transportation/Pages/default.aspxHow far in advance should I book campgrounds near Marlboro Village?
For Maryland state park campgrounds like Cedarville State Forest, book through the Maryland Park Service reservation system as soon as your dates are set, sites open 12 months in advance and weekends sell out by February for summer holidays. Greenbelt Park (National Park Service) takes reservations 6 months out on Recreation.gov and fills quickly for cherry blossom season and Memorial Day. Private parks like Cherry Hill Park in College Park book 3 to 6 months ahead for peak season. Pro tip: midweek arrivals (Sunday to Wednesday) are dramatically easier to book and often a few dollars cheaper per night. Reserve your campground before you book your RV so dates line up perfectly.
recreation.gov/camping/campgrounds/232466What are driving conditions like around Marlboro Village and DC?
Marlboro Village sits just off Route 301 and US-50, both of which are RV-friendly with wide lanes and gentle grades. The main thing to plan around is rush hour on the Capital Beltway (I-495) and I-95, where stop-and-go traffic between 6 to 10 a.m. and 3 to 7 p.m. can make a 25-mile drive into DC take well over an hour. Avoid downtown DC entirely in an RV (height-restricted parkways and tunnels exist on Rock Creek Parkway and the Baltimore-Washington Parkway). Instead, park at Cherry Hill Park or Greenbelt and take Metro. Summer afternoon thunderstorms can dump heavy rain quickly, so check the National Weather Service forecast before towing.

Most campgrounds within an hour of Marlboro Village offer the essentials and then some. Cherry Hill Park has full hookups (water, sewer, 30/50 amp electric), free WiFi, two pools, laundry, and a dump station. Greenbelt Park has flush toilets, drinking water spigots, and a dump station but no individual hookups, so plan on running off battery and your fresh water tank. Cedarville State Forest has electric hookups, a centralized water fill, and a dump station near the entrance. For where to park an RV in Marlboro Village overnight without a campground, Cracker Barrel in Bowie and Walmart on Crain Highway are both known to allow free overnight RV parking with manager approval.

Expect a full kitchen with refrigerator, freezer, microwave, propane stove, and often an oven, plus a bathroom with toilet and shower, queen or king bed, dinette that converts to extra sleeping space, air conditioning, furnace, and a TV. Most rigs include seatbelts for all passengers (always check the sleeps count matches seatbelt count on the listing), and many offer generators, solar, outdoor speakers, and onboard WiFi. Campervan rental Marlboro Village options are more compact but still include sleeping, cooking, and often a wet bath. nhtsa.gov/road-safety/rv-safetyWhat add-ons and pickup options are available?

Common options include bedding and towel packages ($25 to $75), camp chairs and outdoor rugs ($15 to $35), generators ($20 to $50 per day), portable grills, bike racks, kayak racks, and pre-stocked kitchen kits with coffee maker and cookware. Many hosts offer late pickup or early drop-off windows for a small fee, and some will meet you at BWI Airport or a DC hotel rather than their home address. rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Marlboro%20Village%2C%20MarylandHow does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is handled entirely through the RVezy platform, with no cash, checks, or off-platform transfers. You pay your rental total securely with a credit or debit card when you book, and a refundable security deposit is held separately from your booking payment before pickup. The deposit is released after your trip ends, assuming the RV is returned in the same condition. To avoid any deposit issues, take date-stamped photos of the interior, exterior, and odometer at pickup and drop-off, return the RV with the agreed fuel and propane levels, and empty the holding tanks at a dump station such as the one at Cedarville State Forest before returning.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksAre RVs in Marlboro Village ready for cold-weather trips?
Yes, plenty of Marlboro Village rentals are set up for chilly shoulder-season and even winter adventures. Look for listings that mention heated and enclosed holding tanks, a propane furnace, and shore power capability, these features let you camp comfortably even when overnight lows drop into the 20s and 30s from December through February. Cedarville State Forest closes its campground from November to March, but Cherry Hill Park and Greenbelt Park stay open year-round with winter-ready sites. Pack extra propane (Maryland furnaces work hard below 35 degrees), use the fresh water tank rather than the campground spigot to avoid frozen hoses, and you're set for a peaceful off-season escape with no crowds.
