Camping near Montgomery Village, Maryland
Montgomery Village sits in northern Montgomery County, Maryland, roughly 25 miles north of Washington, D.C. and within easy reach of Frederick, Baltimore, and the Catoctin Mountains. That location gives RV travelers a useful mix of options: private full-service RV parks, a National Park Service campground close to the Metro, and a state-park campground in the ridgetop forest west of Frederick.
The closest full-service commercial parks are Ramblin' Pines near Woodbine and Evergreen Point Village, both a short drive on I-70. Cherry Hill Park in College Park bills itself as the closest RV park and campground to Washington, D.C. and is a common base for families combining an RV trip with sightseeing in the capital.
For a more forested feel, Greenbelt Park Campground is an urban oasis about 10 miles from Washington, D.C., in a wooded park known for its peaceful surroundings. Farther west, Gambrill State Park delivers a mountain-camping experience on Catoctin Mountain outside Frederick.
Things to do near Montgomery Village
Washington, D.C. is the anchor attraction. Cherry Hill Park operates an on-site bus depot with public transit and guided tours into the capital, and Greenbelt Park Campground sits close to the Greenbelt Metro station for a similar car-free trip into the city. Families use both as a base for the Smithsonian museums, the monuments, and the springtime Cherry Blossom bloom.
Closer to the campgrounds, kids gravitate to the on-site amenities. Cherry Hill Park features mini golf, fishing, golf cart rentals, two pools, a splash park, a hot tub, and an on-site cafe. Ramblin' Pines and Evergreen Point Village add pool decks, activity programming, and family events across the season.
For hiking and views, Gambrill State Park sits high on Catoctin Mountain about 15 minutes from downtown Frederick and is a go-to for hiking, mountain biking, and scenic overlooks.

Peak season in the region runs from late spring through early fall, with holiday weekends and the D.C. Cherry Blossom period drawing the heaviest bookings. Summer brings hot, humid days and afternoon thunderstorms; fall delivers cooler nights and strong foliage in the Catoctin ridges.
Opening dates vary by campground. Rock Run Campground at Gambrill State Park is the park's primary overnight option, opening the first weekend in April and closing the last weekend in October, with tent-only sites, sites with electric hookups suitable for RVs, and four camper cabins. Private parks near I-70 typically operate a longer shoulder season, and some remain open year-round.
For winter travel, options narrow to the parks that stay open all year. Greenbelt Park Campground is open year round, though it is a primitive facility without hookups, so cold-weather RVers should plan for tank management and supplemental heat. Reservations at popular sites open several months out and fill quickly for Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and Labor Day weekends.

Overall good time. Gray and black water were 2/3 full though and would have been nice to be empty. WiFi was ok in location but sometimes didn’t work. Maybe suspension does need a look over not horrible but slightly loose. Fresh water all the way full would be nice also. I tried to leave it cleaner than I got it as well for the delay on drop off but made sure to get here early this am.

We had such a fantastic time in this RV. It was in ideal size for our family of 5. We travelled from Maryland, through ohio, Indiana, Kentucky and Tennessee. It was nice to drive and didn't feel too big. Clean throughout and no major issues. The host was very helpful and responded super quick to queries. We hope to rent again in the future.

How to book campgrounds near Montgomery Village
Reservation systems differ by operator. For Greenbelt Park Campground, reservations are required year-round and can be made through Recreation.gov on a six-month rolling window. Book as far ahead as the site allows for summer weekends and cherry blossom season, and note the RV length limits by loop when selecting a site.
For Maryland state parks such as Gambrill, use the state's reservation portal. Call 888-432-CAMP between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, or reserve a site online at parkreservations.maryland.gov.
Private campgrounds including Cherry Hill Park, Ramblin' Pines, and Evergreen Point Village accept reservations directly through their own websites or by phone. Confirm rig length, slide-out clearance, and hookup type at booking, and ask about cancellation windows before you lock in dates.
What to expect at Montgomery Village campgrounds
Expect a clear split between resort-style private parks and quieter public campgrounds. Cherry Hill Park is a family-owned campground with full hookup RV sites, shaded tent spaces, cabins, and glamping options, plus two pools, a hot tub, splash park, cafe, and dog park. Ramblin' Pines and Evergreen Point Village follow a similar family-camping model with activity programming and full hookups.
Public campgrounds are more primitive. Greenbelt Park Campground has no water or electric hookups at sites, though there is a dump station in the park. Gambrill's Rock Run loop offers electric sites but no full hookups, and cell service can be spotty on the ridge.
Road access is generally straightforward via I-270, I-70, and the Capital Beltway, though traffic near D.C. peaks on weekday afternoons. Sites at the private parks tend to be closer together than at state or national park campgrounds.

help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Montgomery Village RV rental across state lines or into Canada?

rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Montgomery%20Village%2C%20MarylandHow does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is simple, secure, and fully handled through the RVezy platform: you never pay a host directly in cash or by wire. You pay your trip total by credit or debit card when you book, and a security deposit hold is placed on your card a few days before pickup, typically between $500 and $1,500 depending on the RV. The hold is released after the trip once the host confirms the RV came back in good shape. To avoid issues, take date-stamped photos of the RV at pickup and dropoff, follow the host's fuel and tank instructions, and stay within your mileage allotment. Pro tip: ask the host to do a quick joint walkaround at return so everyone is on the same page.
