Campgrounds near North Beach, Maryland
North Beach sits on the western shore of the Chesapeake Bay in Calvert County, roughly an hour southeast of Washington, D.C. RV travelers use it as a bayfront base with a walkable boardwalk, a public fishing pier, and small-town shops and seafood spots. The town itself has no campground, so most RV renters stay at parks in the surrounding D.C. metro and Southern Maryland region and drive in for the day.
Cedarville State Forest is the closest state-run option, a forested loop in Charles County with electric inner-loop sites and primitive outer-loop sites. For travelers combining a Chesapeake stop with a Washington, D.C. visit, Greenbelt Park Campground, the Washington DC / Capitol KOA Holiday, and Adventure Bound Camping Resorts - Washington DC all sit inside the Beltway corridor and put the National Mall within reach by car or Metro.
Across the Bay Bridge on Maryland's Eastern Shore, Taylors Island Family Campgrounds offers a quieter waterfront alternative for RV travelers who want to pair North Beach with a Blackwater-area detour.
Things to do near North Beach
In town, the North Beach Boardwalk runs along the Chesapeake with a public fishing pier, a small sandy swim beach, and a Saturday morning farmers' market that runs from mid-April through October. First Fridays, held from May through October, add a DJ, food trucks, and free beach access. Kayak and paddleboard rentals operate seasonally on the calm bay water.
Outside town, families combine bay days with fossil hunting at Calvert Cliffs, the Calvert Marine Museum in Solomons, and the Chesapeake Beach Railway Trail, a flat, mostly boardwalked path good for kids and bikes. RV travelers staying near the Beltway typically pair a North Beach day trip with National Mall museums, Greenbelt Park hiking, and the Metro into downtown D.C.

Peak season runs Memorial Day through Labor Day, when the town beach is open, boardwalk events are in full swing, and Chesapeake Bay water is warm enough for swimming and paddling. Summer brings hot, humid afternoons and frequent thunderstorms, and campgrounds in the D.C. metro fill fastest on holiday weekends. Cedarville State Forest requires a two-night minimum from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day, and a three-night minimum on holiday weekends.
Spring and fall are the most comfortable stretches for RV travel in the region, with milder temperatures and lower humidity. Crab season peaks in late summer and early fall, and October brings foliage across Southern Maryland's hardwoods.
Winter is the off-season. Cedarville State Forest's campground is open from April to October, and most bay-oriented rentals and boat services shut down. Greenbelt Park Campground takes year-round reservations, which makes it the practical cold-weather base for a North Beach or D.C. trip.

Great host will consider using though with would select a smaller less luxurious vehicle. Was an excellent first-time experience.

Good rental experience with this RV and also with the host, Oscar. Had a couple of Qs during the trip, and he responded quickly. Nice little travel trailer, fully stocked. Oscar provides an anti-sway trailer hitch, which increases travel & towing safety.
William P. - Jun 2025
Oscar was great! He walked me through everything and helped me get the trailer connected to the truck. The trailer was clean and everything we ran was functional (did not use the AC). Upon return the family was very responsive when I called when I dropped off the trailer. I would definitely rent from Oscar and family again!

How to book campgrounds near North Beach
Reservations for Greenbelt Park Campground are made through Recreation.gov or by calling 1-877-444-6777, up to six months in advance. There are no water or electric hookups at the sites, but the campground has flush toilets, showers, and a dump station. RV length limits apply by loop: 30 feet in B Loop and up to 35 feet in D Loop, including tow vehicle.
Cedarville State Forest books through the Maryland Park Service at parkreservations.maryland.gov or 1-888-432-2267, with a camping season from April to October. Private parks including Adventure Bound Camping Resorts - Washington DC, Washington DC / Capitol KOA Holiday, and Taylors Island Family Campgrounds book directly through their own websites, and summer weekends should be reserved well in advance.
What to expect
Campgrounds in this region range from primitive national and state park loops to full-hookup private resorts. Greenbelt Park has no hookups but offers water and electricity in the bathrooms, a dump station, and potable water. Cedarville State Forest's inner loop has electric sites, with water spigots located throughout the loop rather than at each site, and a 35-foot length limit for recreational vehicles.
Expect ticks and take precautions in the forested parks from spring through summer, and plan for aircraft noise at Cedarville, which sits close enough to Joint Base Andrews that overflights are frequent. North Beach itself has no on-site RV parking near the boardwalk, so plan to drive in, use street parking, and return to camp for the night. Cell coverage is generally strong throughout the D.C. metro and along Route 4 toward the bay.

Frequently asked questions about campgrounds near North Beach, MD
How much does an RV rental in North Beach cost?
RV rental in North Beach is often more affordable than hotels in the DC and Annapolis area. On RVezy, travel trailers typically start around $90 to $150 per night, Class C motorhomes run about $175 to $275, and larger Class A rigs can reach $300 or more. Because hosts set their own pricing, you can find a cheap RV rental in North Beach by filtering for travel trailers and booking midweek in May or September. Pro tip: having a trailer delivered to your campsite near Breezy Point Beach lets you skip towing entirely. Book 6 to 8 weeks ahead for summer holiday weekends to lock in the best rates.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=North%20Beach%2C%20MarylandWhat license do I need to rent an RV in North Beach, MD?
Good news: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in North Beach. Maryland does not require a special RV license or commercial driver's license (CDL) for any motorhome or trailer you'll find on RVezy. You just need to be 25 or older with a valid license, and RVezy verifies your ID right through the platform during booking. Visiting from outside the US? Bring your home-country license plus an International Driving Permit (IDP) from your local auto club. Most first-time renters are surprised how simple the paperwork is. Once you're verified, you're cleared to cruise the Chesapeake Bay shoreline.
mva.maryland.gov/drivers/Pages/default.aspxIs my RV rental protected if something goes wrong?
Yes. Every eligible RVezy booking in North Beach includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can hit Route 4 with real peace of mind. You choose your protection level at checkout, picking the package that best matches your comfort zone, and coverage is selected by the guest, not the host, so you stay in control. If you get a flat heading to Calvert Cliffs State Park or need a jump at Bayfront Park, one phone call gets help dispatched. This is not traditional auto insurance, but it removes financial stress so you can focus on crab cakes and bay sunsets.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat if I need to cancel my North Beach RV rental?
Booking is low-risk because RVezy, not the individual host, sets the cancellation policy for every reservation. There is a grace period after booking during which you can cancel and receive a full refund of the rental cost, and additional refund options depend on how far out from your trip you are. You will see the exact policy details and timelines during checkout and in your booking confirmation. If a host ever cancels on you, RVezy will help you rebook or issue a refund or travel credit. Reserve with confidence and start planning that boardwalk weekend.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a North Beach RV trip?
Absolutely, and North Beach is one of the most dog-welcoming towns on the Chesapeake. Filter for a pet-friendly RV rental in North Beach on RVezy to find hosts who welcome dogs (some charge a small pet fee, usually $25 to $75 per trip). Once you are here, the North Beach Boardwalk welcomes leashed dogs, and Bayfront Park has open space to stretch four legs. Calvert Cliffs State Park, about 25 miles south, allows leashed pets on designated trails. Pro tip: ask your host about a portable water bowl and pet-safe cleaning supplies, then plan a sunrise boardwalk walk before the summer crowds arrive.
dnr.maryland.gov/publiclands/Pages/southern/CalvertCliffs.aspxCan the RV be delivered to my campground in North Beach?
Yes, RV delivery in North Beach is one of the easiest ways to start your trip, especially if you are a first-time renter. Many RVezy hosts in Calvert and Anne Arundel counties will deliver the rig directly to your campsite at Breezy Point Beach and Campground, Holiday Park Campground in Tracys Landing, or even a private driveway in town. They level it, hook up power and water, and walk you through every system before handing over the keys. Use the Delivery filter when searching, and message the host with your exact site number. It is the stress-free way to enjoy RV camping in North Beach without ever towing a thing.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=North%20Beach%2C%20MarylandHow far can I drive on an RV rental from North Beach?
You have plenty of road to explore. Each RVezy host sets their own mileage policy, with many offering generous daily allowances and some offering RV rental with unlimited mileage, perfect for a longer RV road trip from North Beach. From here, Annapolis is about 30 miles north, Washington DC is roughly 40 miles west, Ocean City sits around 130 miles east, and Shenandoah National Park is about 130 miles northwest, all easy day or weekend trips. Check the listing mileage section before booking, or message the host to confirm. Pro tip: if you are planning a Skyline Drive or Assateague Island loop, filter for unlimited miles upfront.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=North%20Beach%2C%20MarylandWhere are the best campgrounds near North Beach, MD?
You're spoiled for choice within 30 minutes of town. Breezy Point Beach and Campground in Chesapeake Beach sits right on the bay with electric hookups and a swimming beach. Holiday Park Campground in Tracys Landing offers full hookups, a pool, and family vibes about 10 minutes from North Beach. Patuxent River Park in Upper Marlboro provides quieter, woodsy sites along the river. For a state park experience, Cedarville State Forest (about 35 miles southwest) has 26 campsites with electric. Pro tip: for the iconic Chesapeake sunset over the bay, request a west-facing site at Breezy Point and arrive by 6 pm.
dnr.maryland.gov/publiclands/Pages/southern/Cedarville.aspxWhen is the best time to rent an RV in North Beach?
North Beach shines from late April through mid-October, with the real sweet spot in May, early June, and September. You will get bay water in the mid-70s F, daytime highs around 75 to 85 F, and far fewer crowds than peak July and August, when humidity and temperatures regularly push into the 90s. October brings crisp mornings, fall colors along Route 261, and dramatic Chesapeake sunsets. Winters are mild but chilly (30s to 50s F), and some campgrounds close from late November through March. Pro tip: book a First Free Friday in summer for free boardwalk concerts, then come back for a Bayfest weekend.
weather.gov/lwx/I am a first-time RV renter. Will I actually know what I am doing?
Yes, and you are in great company because many North Beach guests are first-timers. Every RVezy host provides a hands-on orientation at pickup (usually 30 to 60 minutes) covering driving, the propane system, water and waste tanks, the generator, and how to level and hook up at camp. You can message the host with questions before you ever book. If you would rather skip driving entirely, pick a host who offers delivery to Breezy Point or Holiday Park and they will set everything up for you. RVezy support is available to help before, during, and after your trip, so first time renting an RV has never felt easier.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat happens if my RV breaks down on the way to Calvert Cliffs?
You are covered. Every eligible RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, so a flat tire on Route 4, a dead battery at Flag Ponds Nature Park, or a tow out of a tight campground turn is one phone call away. You will get the roadside number in your booking confirmation. Your host is also reachable directly through the RVezy app for quick questions about quirks specific to their RV. Pro tip: before you leave North Beach, snap a photo of the fuse panel location and propane shut-off; it makes any troubleshooting call faster. Then enjoy the drive knowing help is just a tap away.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my RV rental across state lines or to Canada from North Beach?
Yes, US interstate travel is welcomed on most RVezy rentals, and North Beach makes an ideal launch point: Virginia Beach is about 200 miles south, Philadelphia roughly 140 miles north, and the Outer Banks about 270 miles down the coast. Travel into Canada may be allowed depending on the host and insurance, so message the host directly before booking if you are planning a cross-border trip. One firm rule: travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because insurance coverage does not extend there. Popular routes from North Beach include the Eastern Shore loop to Assateague and a Blue Ridge run via Shenandoah. Confirm your route in writing with your host.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat should I budget for fuel on a North Beach RV trip?
Fuel is usually the biggest variable cost, but it's easy to budget. Maryland gas prices in 2026 hover around $3.40 to $3.80 per gallon, with diesel slightly higher. Most travel trailers don't burn extra fuel beyond your tow vehicle, while Class C motorhomes average 8 to 12 miles per gallon (MPG) and Class A rigs about 6 to 10 MPG. For a typical 200-mile weekend loop from North Beach to Annapolis and back, plan on roughly $60 to $90 in fuel for a Class C. Pro tip: fill up in Owings or Dunkirk on Route 4 where prices tend to run lower than in Annapolis or DC.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near North Beach?
Earlier is better, especially for summer weekends. Maryland State Parks open reservations through the official Maryland Park Service system at parkreservations.maryland.gov, and popular spots like Cedarville State Forest and Point Lookout fill quickly for Memorial Day through Labor Day. Private campgrounds such as Breezy Point Beach and Campground and Holiday Park typically book 2 to 4 months out for summer Saturdays. State park weekend stays during peak season often require a 2-night minimum (3 nights on holiday weekends). Pro tip: midweek arrivals (Sunday through Wednesday) almost always have openings, even in July, and rates are often lower.
parkreservations.maryland.gov/What are local driving conditions like around North Beach?
Driving here is refreshingly easy compared to most East Coast destinations. Route 261 along the bay is flat, scenic, and low-stress, perfect for a first motorhome rental North Beach experience. Route 4 (the main artery to DC and Annapolis) is a divided 4-lane highway with gentle grades. Watch for summer beach traffic Friday afternoons heading south and Sunday evenings heading north toward the Capital Beltway. Avoid downtown Annapolis with anything over 25 feet (narrow colonial streets) and stay off the Bay Bridge during peak summer Fridays if possible. Pro tip: leave North Beach by 9 am on summer Saturdays to beat the rush to Ocean City.
chartmaps.mdot.maryland.gov/What hookups and dump stations are available at North Beach area campgrounds?
You will have plenty of options. Breezy Point Beach and Campground offers electric and water hookups with a dump station on site. Holiday Park Campground in Tracys Landing has full hookups (electric, water, sewer) at most sites plus laundry and a camp store. Cedarville State Forest offers electric sites with a centralized dump station and potable water fill. The Maryland DNR also maintains public dump stations at several state parks within driving distance. Pro tip: top off fresh water before leaving any campground, because filling stations are sparse along the bay roads, and carry a 20 to 25-foot sewer hose for longer pull-through sites.
dnr.maryland.gov/publiclands/Pages/campinginfo.aspxWhat is actually inside an RV rental in North Beach?
More than you would guess. Most RVezy rentals in the North Beach area come fully equipped with real beds (often a queen in the main bedroom, plus convertible dinettes or bunks), a full kitchen (fridge, freezer, stove, microwave, sink), a bathroom with shower and toilet, air conditioning, furnace heat, and seatbelts for every passenger listed. Many include a flat-screen TV, generator, outdoor speakers, and an awning for shaded boardwalk afternoons. WiFi varies, so check the listing if it matters. Pro tip: message the host to confirm sleep count matches seatbelt count, especially for a family RV trip in North Beach with kids.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=North%20Beach%2C%20MarylandWhat add-ons and pickup options should I know about?
RVezy hosts in the North Beach area offer flexible options that make your trip easier. Common add-ons include linens and bedding packages ($25 to $75), kitchen kits, generators, kayaks or paddleboards, bike racks, and outdoor furniture. Pickup is usually at the host home or storage lot in Owings, Dunkirk, or nearby Anne Arundel County, often within 15 miles of the boardwalk. Many hosts also offer delivery to Breezy Point or your private driveway for a per-mile fee. Mileage policies vary by listing, so review the daily allowance before booking. Pro tip: bundle delivery, setup, and a linens add-on for the fully hands-off experience, then just show up and enjoy your campervan rental in North Beach.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=North%20Beach%2C%20MarylandHow does payment and the security deposit work?
Payment is simple and secure through the RVezy platform: you pay the rental cost, protection plan, and any add-ons by credit card at booking. A separate security deposit (typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV) is pre-authorized on your card before pickup and released after the host confirms the RV came back clean, on time, and undamaged. Never pay outside the platform; everything stays protected when it runs through RVezy. Pro tip: to help your deposit be returned quickly, return with the same fuel level, empty the gray and black tanks at a dump station before drop-off, and take time-stamped photos at pickup and return.
