Campgrounds near Randolph, Massachusetts
Randolph sits about 15 miles south of downtown Boston, putting RV renters within easy driving range of both urban attractions and a scattered ring of campgrounds across eastern Massachusetts. The town itself has no RV park, so most travelers base out of private campgrounds south and west along Route 24 and Interstate 495, or use Randolph as a launch point for day trips to the Boston Harbor Islands.
The closest full-service RV option is Canoe River Campground in Mansfield, roughly 20 miles south, which offers over 200 wooded sites with full hookups for rigs up to 65 feet. For a very different experience, the Boston Harbor Islands National and State Park operates rustic camping on Peddocks Island, reached by ferry out of Hingham. Other island campsites in the same system include Grape Island, Bumpkin Island, and, for organized groups, Thompson Island.
RV renters should note that the harbor island campgrounds do not accommodate vehicles: rigs stay at mainland parking, and campers ferry over with gear. Mainland private campgrounds remain the practical choice for travelers who want to keep their RV on-site.
Things to do near Randolph
Boston is the main draw. From Randolph, the MBTA commuter rail and Red Line reach downtown in under an hour, giving access to the Freedom Trail, Fenway Park, the New England Aquarium, and museums along the Charles River. Families with kids often pair a city day with a harbor cruise.
Outdoor options cluster around the Blue Hills Reservation just north of town, with more than 125 miles of trails, a swimming pond at Houghton's Pond, and the Blue Hills Trailside Museum. Wollaston Beach in Quincy and Nantasket Beach in Hull are both within a short drive.
For a day on the water, seasonal ferries from Hingham and Long Wharf reach the Boston Harbor Islands, where visitors can walk Civil War forts, swim, and hike coastal trails.

The camping season around Randolph is short. Most private campgrounds in the region, including Canoe River Campground, run from mid-April through mid-October, closing entirely in winter. Boston Harbor Islands camping on Peddocks Island operates on an even tighter window, roughly mid-June through mid-October, with sites available Wednesday through Saturday during the summer and Thursday through Saturday after Labor Day, tied to the seasonal ferry schedule.
Summer, especially July and August, is peak season. Weekends book heavily at private parks, and ferry seats to the harbor islands sell out well ahead. Reservations for the harbor island sites open four months in advance of check-in, so travelers targeting a summer Saturday should plan early.
Late spring and early fall offer the best balance: cooler nights, thinner crowds, and full campground services still running. Fall foliage typically peaks in inland Massachusetts in mid-October, overlapping the tail end of the camping season. Winter closes nearly all camping options in the area.

How to book near Randolph
Boston Harbor Islands campsites on Peddocks Island are booked through ReserveAmerica under the Massachusetts DCR system. Reservations open four months ahead of check-in, and sites, especially the yurts, fill quickly. Ferry tickets are purchased separately and should be booked immediately after the campsite, with departures for Peddocks running from Hingham Shipyard, where free overnight parking is available for campers with a check-in pass.
Private campgrounds such as Canoe River Campground take reservations directly by phone or through their website, with additional listings on Good Sam, Hipcamp, and RoverPass. Summer holiday weekends often require deposits and minimum stays.
RV renters should confirm rig length, hookup type, and slide-out clearance with the campground at booking, since site dimensions vary across the older parks in the region.
What to expect near Randolph
Mainland private parks in the Randolph area lean family-oriented and can feel dense on summer weekends. Canoe River Campground is heavily wooded, has pools, a playground, and an arcade, and accommodates large rigs, though sites are close together and many are held by seasonal renters.
Harbor island camping is a different experience: primitive tent sites and yurts, composting toilets, and no showers. Peddocks Island has potable drinking water and a ranger station, and its yurts include electricity and bunk beds, while tent sites have neither power nor water. Campers must pack in and carry out all gear and trash. Alcohol is prohibited across all Massachusetts DCR parks, and pets other than service animals are not allowed on the islands.
Traffic on Route 24, I-93, and the Southeast Expressway can add significant time to any trip in or out of Boston, especially on Friday afternoons and Sunday evenings.

Frequently asked questions about campgrounds near Randolph, MA
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Randolph, MA?
RV rental in Randolph, MA is typically more affordable than traditional rental agencies. On RVezy, you'll generally find travel trailers from around $90 to $150 per night, Class C motorhomes between $175 and $275 per night, and Class A motorhomes around $250 to $400 per night. Because Randolph sits just 15 miles south of Boston, demand peaks in July and August, so a cheap RV rental in Randolph is easiest to secure in May, June, September, or early October. Weeklong bookings often unlock host discounts of 10 to 20 percent, and filtering by Instant Book can surface last-minute availability from owners with open calendars heading into a Cape Cod weekend.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Randolph%2C%20MassachusettsWhat license do I need to rent an RV in Randolph, MA?
A regular Massachusetts driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Randolph, MA, even for a 30-foot Class C motorhome. No commercial driver's license (CDL) or special RV endorsement is required for non-commercial recreational vehicles under 26,000 pounds. Visiting from outside the U.S.? Bring your home-country license along with an International Driving Permit (IDP) before you travel. On RVezy, the approved driver is generally required to be 25 or older, and ID verification happens securely through the platform during booking, so you'll be cleared to hit the road for your Randolph RV trip in just a few clicks.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsIs RV rental in Randolph protected if something goes wrong?
Every RV rental in Randolph, MA booked through RVezy comes with a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance built in. The protection plan covers eligible accidental damage to the vehicle during your trip, and you choose the level of coverage that fits your comfort at checkout (hosts don't set this, you do). It's not traditional auto insurance, but it provides meaningful financial peace of mind so a small mishap, like a scraped awning at Wompatuck State Park, won't derail your vacation. Review the coverage tiers carefully if you're a first-time renter heading toward Cape Cod traffic; the higher tier often pays for itself in stress savings alone.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat if I need to cancel my Randolph RV booking?
You can book with confidence. RVezy applies a clear cancellation policy to every reservation, including a money-back grace period right after you book so you're never locked in immediately. Refund amounts depend on how far out you cancel from your trip start date, and special circumstances like natural disasters (think a New England nor'easter rolling through Norfolk County) may also be considered. The policy is consistent across the platform; individual hosts in Randolph don't set their own rules. Review the full cancellation policy on the RVezy Help Center before booking, and reach out to RVezy customer support if your plans shift unexpectedly.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Randolph?
Yes, pet-friendly RV rental options in Randolph are easy to find on RVezy: just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter when searching. Many owners welcome dogs at no extra cost, while others charge a small pet cleaning fee that's clearly listed on the rig. Randolph is a great launch point for dog-friendly adventures: Blue Hills Reservation is just a few miles north with leashed-dog trails, Wompatuck State Park in Hingham (about 12 miles east) allows pets at campsites with proof of current rabies vaccination, and Nantasket Beach permits dogs in the off-season. Keep your dog's rabies paperwork in the RV, since Massachusetts DCR campgrounds require it at check-in.
mass.gov/info-details/pets-in-dcr-parksCan the RV be delivered to me in Randolph?
Yes, RV delivery is one of the most popular add-ons in Randolph, and it's a great option if you'd rather not drive a big rig through Route 24 or I-93 traffic. Many RVezy hosts will deliver the motorhome straight to your driveway in Randolph, a local campground like Boston/Cape Cod KOA in Middleboro, or even a Cape Cod site, then set up the hookups and walk you through every system. Delivery fees typically run about $2 to $4 per mile, and some hosts include free delivery within a set radius. Message the host directly from the listing to confirm delivery to your exact campsite, which is especially helpful for first-time renters heading to busy summer destinations.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Randolph%2C%20MassachusettsHow far can I travel from Randolph on an RV road trip?
Randolph's location at the junction of Route 24 and I-93 makes it a great launchpad for some of New England's best drives. An RV road trip from Randolph can take you to the Cape Cod Canal (about 45 miles, around 1 hour), Provincetown at the tip of Cape Cod (about 115 miles, 2.5 hours), Newport, Rhode Island (about 75 miles, 90 minutes), the White Mountains of New Hampshire (about 140 miles, 2.5 hours), or Acadia National Park in Maine (about 270 miles, 5 hours). Most RVezy hosts include 100 to 150 free miles per night, and some offer RV rental with unlimited mileage. Ask the host about their mileage policy before booking, as it makes a big difference on longer trips.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Randolph%2C%20MassachusettsWhere are the best campgrounds near Randolph, MA?
You have plenty of great options for RV camping near Randolph. Top picks include Wompatuck State Park in Hingham (about 12 miles east, electric hookups, wooded sites under tall pines), Boston/Cape Cod KOA in Middleboro (about 25 miles south, full hookups, family pool), Normandy Farms Family Camping Resort in Foxborough (about 20 miles southwest, a true RV resort with multiple pools and a dog park), Massasoit State Park in Taunton (about 25 miles south), and Circle CG Farm Campground in Bellingham (year-round, about 22 miles west). Massachusetts DCR state park rates are notably lower for residents than non-residents, an unbeatable deal so close to Boston.
mass.gov/camping-at-massachusetts-state-parksWhen is the best time to rent an RV in Randolph, MA?
The sweet spot for a Randolph RV trip is late May through mid-October, when DCR state park campgrounds are open and New England weather cooperates. June and September are arguably the best months: daytime highs generally run in the 70s to low 80s, humidity dips, and campsites are easier to book. July and August bring beach-perfect weather but also peak crowds on the Cape. Late September into mid-October delivers spectacular fall foliage across the Blue Hills and southern New Hampshire, plus shoulder-season pricing on motorhome rentals in Randolph. Book at least 8 weeks ahead for any weekend in July or August, especially around the Fourth of July.
weather.gov/box/I've never rented an RV before. Will I be okay driving one out of Randolph?
You've got this. First time renting an RV is less intimidating than it sounds, especially around Randolph. Every RVezy host provides a full walkthrough at pickup, showing you how to operate the generator, hookups, slide-outs, and dump valves, and you can message them anytime during your trip. Randolph itself is suburban with wide roads, and you can avoid downtown Boston entirely by taking Route 24 south or I-495 toward the Cape. Most first-timers choose a Class C motorhome (22 to 30 feet) because it drives like a large van. Try a slow practice loop in a quiet lot like the South Shore Plaza in Braintree before merging onto the highway.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat happens if the RV breaks down during my trip?
You're covered. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, so if you get a flat tire on Route 3 heading to the Cape or the generator stops cooperating at Wompatuck, help is one phone call away. Roadside support can dispatch a tow, jumpstart, tire change, lockout service, or fuel delivery anywhere in Massachusetts. Your host is also typically a quick message away for questions about quirks specific to their RV. Save the RVezy roadside number in your phone before you leave Randolph, and snap a photo of the RV's VIN and license plate, since it speeds up service if you ever need it.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Randolph RV rental into Canada or other states?
In many cases, yes. Most RVezy hosts in Randolph allow trips throughout New England and the Northeast: Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and New York are all common destinations. Cross-border travel into Canada (think Quebec City or the Bay of Fundy) is allowed by some hosts with advance approval and the proper insurance documentation, so message the host before booking to confirm. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on any RVezy rental because insurance coverage doesn't extend there. A roughly 4 to 5 hour drive north from Randolph puts you at the Canadian border crossing in Derby Line, Vermont, a scenic route through the Green Mountains.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat should I budget for fuel on a Randolph RV trip?
Fuel is the biggest variable cost, but it's easy to plan for. Most Class C motorhomes get about 8 to 12 miles per gallon, campervans (Class B) average roughly 16 to 20 mpg, and travel trailer fuel use depends on your tow vehicle. Massachusetts gas prices vary, so check current rates before you go. For a 4-day, 400-mile loop from Randolph to Cape Cod and back in a Class C, plan for a meaningful fuel line item in your budget. Use the GasBuddy app and fill up in Raynham or Middleboro before heading onto the Cape, since prices on Route 6 east of the canal can run higher.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Randolph?
For Massachusetts DCR state parks, reservations open six months in advance through ReserveAmerica, and prime summer weekends at popular spots like Wompatuck and Nickerson can sell out quickly after the booking window opens. For private campgrounds like Normandy Farms or Boston/Cape Cod KOA, book 2 to 4 months ahead for July and August, and 3 to 6 weeks ahead for shoulder season. Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and Labor Day weekends are the toughest to grab. Same-day reservations at DCR parks may be available through ReserveAmerica, so if a Randolph weekend plan comes together last-minute, you may still have a shot at a state park site.
mass.gov/how-to/reserve-a-campsiteWhat are driving conditions like around Randolph for an RV?
Randolph is one of the easier metro-Boston suburbs to drive an RV in, sitting right at the Route 24 and I-93 interchange with wide lanes and minimal low bridges. Avoid Storrow Drive in Boston, which has low clearance and is famously where tall vehicles get peeled open (locals call it getting 'Storrowed'). Stick to I-93, I-95/Route 128, Route 24, and Route 3 for the Cape. Note that propane is restricted in the Sumner and Callahan Tunnels into East Boston. New England winters bring snow and ice from December through March, so if you're winter camping, ask your host for tire guidance and stick to plowed major routes.
mass.gov/orgs/highway-divisionWhat amenities will I find at campgrounds near Randolph?
Campgrounds near Randolph offer everything from full hookups to rustic tent-only sites, so you can pick what suits your rig. Private parks like Normandy Farms and Boston/Cape Cod KOA include 30/50-amp electric, water, sewer, Wi-Fi, laundry, and dump stations. Massachusetts DCR state parks (Wompatuck, Massasoit, Myles Standish) generally offer electric and/or water hookups at many sites, flush toilets, hot showers, and a central dump station, though sewer at individual sites is uncommon. Massachusetts restricts transporting firewood into DCR parks to help prevent the spread of invasive pests, so plan to buy a bundle on site at the campground gate when you arrive.
mass.gov/info-details/dcr-rules-and-regulationsWhat's actually inside an RV rental from Randolph?
Most RVs on RVezy come fully equipped so you can move in and start vacationing. Expect a queen or larger bed, bunks or convertible dinettes (most rigs sleep 4 to 8), a kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, sink, and basic cookware, a bathroom with toilet and shower, air conditioning, furnace heat, and seatbelts for every traveler. Many include a TV, Bluetooth stereo, generator, and outdoor awning. Wi-Fi hotspots and solar panels are common add-ons. Check the listing's amenities section and message the host to confirm what's included (linens, towels, kitchen kit); some Randolph-area hosts include a full 'kitchen starter pack' free, while others charge a small add-on fee.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Randolph%2C%20MassachusettsWhat add-ons and pickup options should I know about?
RVezy hosts in Randolph offer popular add-ons that make life easier: delivery and setup (typically $2 to $4 per mile), generator hours, camp chairs and outdoor rugs, bike racks, propane refill, kitchen and linen packs, and Wi-Fi hotspots. Pickup is typically at the host's home in Randolph or a nearby town like Quincy, Braintree, or Stoughton, and pickup and drop-off windows are commonly in the early afternoon and late morning. Mileage policies range from 100 free miles per night to RV rental with unlimited mileage on certain listings. Filter for 'Delivery' to see hosts who can meet you at your campsite.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Randolph%2C%20MassachusettsHow do payment and the security deposit work?
Payment is simple and secure: you pay directly through RVezy with a credit or debit card when you book, with no cash or third-party app exchanges with the host. The total includes the nightly rate, RVezy service fee, your chosen protection plan, and any add-ons. A refundable security deposit (amount varies by RV) is pre-authorized on your card before pickup and released after the trip, assuming no damage or excess mileage. Take a quick walkaround video of the RV at both pickup and drop-off in Randolph; timestamped photos protect both you and the host and make deposit returns straightforward.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksCan I rent an RV in Randolph during winter?
Yes, a winter RV rental in Randolph, MA is possible and can be a cozy way to experience New England's snowy charm. Some hosts list four-season rigs with heated holding tanks, insulated underbellies, and propane furnaces built for cold nights. Most Massachusetts DCR campgrounds close after October, but year-round private options like Circle CG Farm Campground in Bellingham and Normandy Farms in Foxborough stay open with full hookups. Many winter renters use their RV for ski trips to New Hampshire's Loon, Waterville Valley, or Cannon Mountain (about 2 to 2.5 hours north). Ask the host about shore-power requirements, heat tape on the water hose, and antifreeze in the holding tanks before booking a cold-weather trip.
