Campgrounds and RV parks near Anoka, MN

Anoka sits at the confluence of the Rum and Mississippi Rivers, about 20 miles northwest of downtown Minneapolis. The area combines suburban access with a network of regional parks, river trails, and private RV parks, making it a practical base for RV travelers exploring the north Twin Cities metro. The name Anoka is often described as a Dakota word referring to its two-river setting. Private campgrounds in the surrounding area cover the range of RV needs. The Minneapolis Northwest KOA Journey, in Maple Grove, offers pull-thru RV sites, tent sites, and camping cabins on a wooded parcel a short drive from Anoka. Ham Lake Resort, Country Camping RV Park, Town and Country Campground and RV Park, and Kozy Oaks Kamp round out the nearby options, spread across the northern and northeastern suburbs. Anoka County's regional park system adds public land within a short drive, and Minnesota state parks are reachable for day trips or longer stays. The Anoka County parks system operates its own campsite reservations, and regional park entrance gatehouses sell day-use or annual permits.

Private parks near Anoka, including Minneapolis Northwest KOA Journey, Ham Lake Resort, Country Camping RV Park, Town and Country Campground and RV Park, and Kozy Oaks Kamp, take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone. For summer weekends and holidays, booking several weeks or months ahead is standard. Minnesota state parks use a centralized reservation system operated by the Minnesota DNR. Reservations can be made online at mndnr.gov/reservations or by phone at 866-857-2757, and camping and lodging reservations are available up to 120 days before the arrival date. All campsites in state parks and recreation areas require a reservation before they may be occupied, year-round. A camping reservation does not replace the vehicle permit: all vehicles entering a state park or recreation area must have a Minnesota state park vehicle permit. Anoka County regional parks handle their own campsite bookings through the county parks system, and a day-use or annual permit is required to enter the parks.
