Baudette sits at the mouth of the Rainy River on the south shore of Lake of the Woods, in far northern Minnesota just across the water from Ontario. Upstream along the Rainy River toward Birchdale, Franz Jevne State Park offers a smaller, quieter riverside campground with views straight into Canada. Expect a remote, north-country trip: long drives between towns, limited services after dark, and cell coverage that thins out once past the state park gates.
