Monson Lake is a small glacial lake with walleye, northern pike, largemouth bass, and panfish, and Lac Qui Parle Lake, roughly 6,000 acres in size, holds bluegill, pike, perch, crappie, and walleye. Boat ramps, accessible fishing piers, and canoe launches are standard at the state parks. Hiking and wildlife viewing round out the days. Glacial Lakes State Park offers miles of hiking, horse, cross-country ski, and snowmobile trails across rolling prairie and kettle lakes. The Lac Qui Parle area is one of the Midwest's most important waterfowl stopovers on the Mississippi Flyway, drawing tens of thousands of migrating geese in spring and fall. Swimming beaches, paddleboard and canoe rentals at Glacial Lakes, and a river walking trail from Pomme de Terre Campground into downtown Morris give families options beyond the water.
