Campgrounds and RV parks near Cokato, MN

Cokato sits in Wright County about an hour west of the Twin Cities on U.S. Highway 12, surrounded by the lakes and hardwood pockets of central Minnesota. The area is a practical base for RV travelers who want lake access without the drive up to the North Woods, and it puts several private RV parks and county lake accesses within a short radius. The closest and largest option is Cokato Lake RV Resort, a cooperative-style park on the east shore of Cokato Lake with roughly 225 sites, paved roads, full hookups, an in-ground heated pool, mini golf, and a beach area. Nearby, Codgers Cover RV Resort and Spirit of Ripley RV Campground next to Lake Ripley in Litchfield add smaller, quieter alternatives on or beside water. A J Acres Campground and St Cloud Clearwater RV Park sit closer to Interstate 94 for travelers routing through St. Cloud. Many sites at these private resorts are held by seasonal owners, so RV renters should call ahead rather than assume walk-up availability on summer weekends.

Private parks around Cokato take reservations directly. Cokato Lake RV Resort, Codgers Cover RV Resort, Spirit of Ripley RV Campground, A J Acres Campground, and St Cloud Clearwater RV Park each handle their own bookings by phone or website. Many sites at these parks are held by seasonal owners, which limits transient inventory, so book summer weekends as early as possible, ideally by late winter. For public campgrounds in the region, Minnesota state parks and recreation areas use the ReserveMN system operated by the Minnesota DNR. Sites can be reserved up to 120 days ahead of arrival, with fee-free same-day reservations available when sites remain. A maximum of 14 nights applies to a single camping reservation.
