Campgrounds and RV parks near Eden Valley, MN

Water recreation drives the trip. The Horseshoe Chain of Lakes supports fishing, swimming, and pontoon outings, and Long Lake connects a string of lakes between Richmond and Cold Spring. Families can use the sandy swimming beach on Long Lake at El Rancho Manana, cast from docks, or explore roughly 25 miles of hiking and biking trails on the property. Guided horseback trail rides, along with trolley and wagonette rides, are available at El Rancho Manana for campers and the public. Off-site, travelers can drive to Lake Maria State Park for hiking, the Lake Wobegon Regional Trail for paved cycling, and the Munsinger and Clemens Gardens in St. Cloud. Downtown Eden Valley, Kimball, and Richmond provide small-town cafes, bait shops, and grocery stops.

Central Minnesota campgrounds operate on a compressed warm-weather season. El Rancho Manana operates seasonally from May through October, and most private campgrounds in the area follow a similar window, with limited or no services once freezing temperatures set in. Ice-out on the Horseshoe Chain typically arrives in April. June through August is peak season. Weekends fill quickly at lake properties, and holiday weekends often require multi-night minimums. El Rancho Manana hosts Minnesota Bluegrass and Old-Time Music Association festivals twice each year, which pull heavy demand in specific weeks, so travelers should check the event calendar before locking dates. Reservations at private lake campgrounds typically require full pre-payment at time of booking, with longer minimum stays on weekends and holiday weekends. Shoulder months bring quieter sites and cooler nights. September delivers stable weather and fall color along the Sauk River, while May offers open availability but variable rain. Winter camping is largely unavailable at the private campgrounds listed.

Sites in this part of Minnesota tend to be grassy, partially shaded, and set on gently rolling terrain rather than paved pads. Hookup availability varies by property. El Rancho Manana provides 50-amp electrical service with water and sewer connections, pull-through sites for rigs up to about 40 feet, a dump station, bath houses with showers, and coin-operated laundry. Cozy Corners features a lodge, a fish cleaning house, an indoor pool, multiple bathhouses, and a laundry center on Long Lake. Expect a family-oriented atmosphere and standard pet policies that require leashes. Cell coverage is generally usable but uneven between carriers. Mosquitoes and ticks are active from late May through August, so screen rooms, repellent, and long sleeves for evening campfires are practical additions to the packing list.
