Campgrounds and RV parks near Elysian, MN

Elysian sits in south-central Minnesota between Le Sueur and Waseca counties, on a chain of glacial lakes about an hour south of the Twin Cities. The area serves as a compact base for RV travelers heading to Sakatah Lake, Clear Lake, and the Sakatah Singing Hills State Trail, a paved route connecting Faribault and Mankato. Campground options range from full-service family resorts to a standard state-park campground. Kamp Dels, on the north shore of Lake Sakatah near Waterville, is a large private resort with 200 campsites, full-hookup options including 20, 30, and 50-amp service, plus a 38,000-square-foot waterpark and a petting zoo. Kiesler's Campground and RV Resort, on Clear Lake near Waseca, offers big-rig-friendly full-hookup sites, a heated pool with waterslides, and lake access. Sakatah Trail Campground in nearby Madison Lake sits along the Sakatah Singing Hills State Trail and offers full hookup sites for RVs with electric, water, and sewer connections. For a quieter, wooded stay, Sakatah Lake State Park has 62 campsites, 14 with electric hookups, plus a rental cabin. Camp Maiden Rock West, near Morristown, rounds out the closer options.

Sakatah Lake State Park is reserved through the Minnesota DNR reservation system, online at mndnr.gov/reservations or by phone at 866-857-2757. Campsites are available up to 120 days in advance, and a state park vehicle permit is required in addition to a camping reservation. All campsites in Minnesota state parks and recreation areas require a reservation year-round, and one camper cabin at the park is also bookable. Private campgrounds in the area take direct online reservations. Kamp Dels books through Campspot and has been family-owned since 1955, and Kiesler's Campground and RV Resort takes reservations through its own site or by phone. Both fill quickly for summer weekends, holiday weekends, and themed events, so reserve electric and full-hookup sites well in advance.
