Campgrounds and RV parks near Freeport, MN

Freeport sits in Stearns County along Interstate 94, roughly halfway between St. Cloud and Alexandria. The area is central Minnesota lake country, with the Sauk River, the Horseshoe Chain of Lakes to the south, and the Mississippi River corridor to the east shaping most of the nearby camping options. RV renters have a mix of private family campgrounds and one state park within an easy drive. El Rancho Manana Campground and Cozy Corners Campground both sit on Long Lake in the Horseshoe Chain south of Richmond. Camp S'more Campground is northwest of Freeport in the Sauk Centre area. Charles A Lindbergh State Park lies east on the Mississippi River near Little Falls, and Two Rivers Campground and Tubing is farther east in Royalton at the confluence of the Mississippi and Platte rivers. Distances from Freeport are short by Minnesota standards, generally under an hour, so most travelers pick a base camp and day-trip to lakes, trails, and small-town main streets in the region.

Charles A Lindbergh State Park uses the Minnesota state park reservation system at reservemn.usedirect.com. Sites can be booked online 24 hours a day or by phone, and a vehicle permit (daily or annual) is required in addition to the camping fee. The campground has 38 sites with 15 electric hookups, plus a walk-in site, a canoe-in site along the Mississippi, and a group camp. Private campgrounds book directly. El Rancho Manana Campground, Cozy Corners Campground, Camp S'more Campground, and Two Rivers Campground and Tubing all take reservations by phone or through their websites, with Two Rivers also listed on Campspot. Holiday weekends and lakefront or full-hookup sites go first, so book several weeks or months ahead for peak summer dates.
