Campgrounds and RV parks near Greenwood, MN

Greenwood is a small residential community on the western shore of Lake Minnetonka in Hennepin County, roughly 20 miles west of downtown Minneapolis. The city itself has no public campgrounds, so RV travelers stay at commercial parks scattered around the western and southern Twin Cities suburbs and use Greenwood as a launching point for lake access and metro-area attractions. The closest full-service RV options sit south of the Minnesota River in Scott County. Dakotah Meadows RV Park in Prior Lake offers paved, full-hookup sites next to Mystic Lake Casino, and Fish Lake Acres Campground provides lakeshore sites with a sandy beach and boat launch. Town and Country Campground and RV Park adds a family-oriented option closer to the southern suburbs. For travelers approaching from the west or north, Minneapolis Southwest KOA Holiday in Jordan and Minneapolis Northwest KOA Journey in Maple Grove round out the private-park choices, both offering standard KOA amenities and easy highway access into the metro.

Private parks in the area take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone. Dakotah Meadows RV Park, Town and Country Campground and RV Park, Fish Lake Acres Campground, Minneapolis Southwest KOA Holiday, and Minneapolis Northwest KOA Journey all book independently, and summer weekends should be locked in several weeks ahead. For Minnesota state park campgrounds in the broader region, reservations run through the ReserveMN portal operated by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. Camping and lodging reservations can be made up to 120 days before the arrival date. Minnesota's 120-day booking window is one of the shortest in the country, so popular summer dates go fast when the window opens at 8 a.m. Central. A state park vehicle permit is required in addition to the campsite reservation.
