Campgrounds and RV parks near Long Prairie, MN

Long Prairie sits in Todd County in central Minnesota, roughly halfway between St. Cloud and the Brainerd Lakes area along U.S. Highway 71. The town anchors a rural stretch of farmland, hardwood forest, and glacial lakes, which gives RV travelers a quieter base than the busier resort corridors farther north. Campgrounds within a short drive include Camp S'more Campground and Two Mile Trailer Park and Campground close to town, Head Of The Lakes Resort and Fishtrap Camping and RV Resort on nearby lakes, and Dower Lake Recreation Area for a city-run option with a beach. Sites range from full-hookup RV pads to rustic tent spots, so most rig sizes can be accommodated. The area also puts several Minnesota state parks within easy reach, including Lake Carlos State Park north of Alexandria and Charles A. Lindbergh State Park near Little Falls, both of which add hiking, swimming, and interpretive programs to a Long Prairie trip.

Private campgrounds around Long Prairie, including Camp S'more Campground, Head Of The Lakes Resort, Two Mile Trailer Park and Campground, and Fishtrap Camping and RV Resort, take reservations directly by phone or through their own websites. Full-hookup and lakefront sites turn over first, so calling early in the season is recommended for July and August stays. Minnesota state park campgrounds, including Lake Carlos State Park and Charles A. Lindbergh State Park, accept reservations up to 120 days in advance through reservemn.usedirect.com or by calling 866-857-2757. A Minnesota state park vehicle permit is required and can be added at check-in or purchased in advance. City-managed sites such as Dower Lake Recreation Area are booked through the local parks office.
