Campgrounds and RV parks near Minnetonka Beach, MN

Minnetonka Beach sits on a peninsula between Lafayette Bay and Crystal Bay on Lake Minnetonka, roughly 20 miles west of downtown Minneapolis. The village itself is residential and has no public campground, so RV travelers base out of parks in the surrounding Twin Cities metro and drive in for lake access, marinas, and Three Rivers Park District beaches. The closest full-service RV options are Minneapolis Northwest KOA Journey in Maple Grove and Minneapolis Southwest KOA Holiday, both offering full hookups, laundry, and cabin rentals. South and west of the metro, Dakotah Meadows RV Park in Prior Lake and Town and Country Campground and RV Park serve travelers who want easier freeway access to Mall of America, Valleyfair, and Mystic Lake. For a state-park experience within reasonable driving distance, the Equestrian - Minnesota Valley State Park campground offers a quieter, more rustic base along the Minnesota River, useful for riders and for RVers who want fewer neighbors than a metro KOA.

Minnesota state park and recreation area sites, including Equestrian - Minnesota Valley State Park, are booked through the ReserveMN system operated by the Minnesota DNR. Reservations open 120 days before the arrival date, with online bookings on that first day held until 8 a.m. Central Time, and the entire stay can be booked in a single transaction up to a 14-night maximum. Same-day reservations skip the reservation fee. Every vehicle entering a state park also needs a daily or annual state park permit in addition to the campsite booking. Private parks such as Minneapolis Northwest KOA Journey, Minneapolis Southwest KOA Holiday, Dakotah Meadows RV Park, and Town and Country Campground and RV Park take reservations directly through their own websites or the KOA reservation system, often further out than 120 days. Book summer weekends and holiday weeks well in advance.
