Campgrounds and RV parks near Pillager, MN

Pillager sits in Cass County in central Minnesota, on the north bank of the Crow Wing River between Staples and Brainerd. The area is part of the state's northern lakes region, with a mix of hardwood forest, pine, and glacial lakes that draw RV travelers from spring through fall. The closest state-park campground is at Crow Wing State Park, a short drive east near the confluence of the Mississippi and Crow Wing rivers. Private resort-style campgrounds cluster around the surrounding lakes: Fishtrap Camping and RV Resort on Fish Trap Lake, Gull and Love Lake RV Park, Upper Cullen Resort and Campground, and Fritzs Resort Campground and Golf Course all sit within an easy drive. Most sites in the area accommodate travel trailers and larger motorhomes, and lakeside private resorts typically offer full hookups, while the state park runs a mix of electric and non-electric sites. Brainerd, a short drive east, is the regional supply hub for groceries, fuel, and RV service.

State-park sites at Crow Wing are reserved through the Minnesota DNR's ReserveMN system, either online or by phone. Reservations open up to 120 days ahead of arrival, and popular summer weekends fill quickly, so booking early and having backup site numbers ready is recommended. Private campgrounds, including Fishtrap Camping and RV Resort, Gull and Love Lake RV Park, Upper Cullen Resort and Campground, and Fritzs Resort Campground and Golf Course, take bookings directly through their own websites or by phone. Many require multi-night minimums on summer weekends and holidays, and some sell full-season lakefront sites, which reduces short-stay availability. A Minnesota state-park vehicle permit is required on top of the campsite fee at Crow Wing.
