Campgrounds and RV parks near Starbuck, MN

Starbuck sits on the western shore of Lake Minnewaska in Pope County, in Minnesota's central lakes region. The town is a compact base for RV trips, with grocery, fuel, and dining within a short drive of most sites. From the Twin Cities, most travelers take I-94 west to Sauk Centre and then Highway 29 south, a route through farmland and lake country that handles larger rigs comfortably. Camping options range from public sites at Glacial Lakes State Park to private lakefront resorts. The Lower and Oakridge campgrounds at Glacial Lakes State Park lie about five miles south of town, reached via Highway 29 and County Road 41, and offer electric and non-electric sites among rolling prairie and oak savanna. Beachside RV Park, Big Foot Resort, Canary Beach Resort, and Shady Rest Resort and Campground round out the nearby private options, most oriented toward fishing, swimming, and boat access on area lakes. The RV audience here is largely families and anglers. Sites in the state park accommodate rigs up to about 45 feet, and full-hookup pull-throughs are more common at the private resorts.

Sites at the Lower and Oakridge campgrounds in Glacial Lakes State Park are booked through the Minnesota state parks reservation system, either online at mndnr.gov/reservations or by phone. The booking window is 120 days ahead of the arrival date, and new dates open at 8 a.m. Central on the first day they become available. A Minnesota state park vehicle permit is required in addition to the campsite fee, sold as a daily or annual pass. Summer weekends and the camper cabins fill quickly, so booking at the 120-day mark is recommended. Private resorts including Beachside RV Park, Big Foot Resort, Canary Beach Resort, and Shady Rest Resort and Campground handle reservations directly by phone or through their own websites. Many of these properties also rent seasonal sites, so nightly RV inventory can be limited on peak weekends.
