Campgrounds and RV parks near Waterville, MN

Waterville sits in south-central Minnesota's Le Sueur County, on a chain of shallow lakes fed by the Cannon River. The town is roughly an hour south of the Twin Cities and functions as a base for RV travelers heading to Sakatah Lake State Park, an 842-acre state park on a natural widening of the Cannon River near town. The area is defined by warm-water lakes, oak woodlands, and the Sakatah Singing Hills State Trail, a paved rail-trail that runs through the region. Campground options range from full-service resort properties to state park loops. Kamp Dels sits on the north shore of Lake Sakatah and offers a large mix of full-hookup RV sites, tent sites, and cabin rentals, with 20, 30, and 50-amp electrical service available. Sakatah Lake State Park provides a quieter, forested alternative next door, while Camp Maiden Rock West, Kiesler's Campground and RV Resort, and Winjums Shady Acres Resort round out the nearby private options. Most sites are lake-adjacent, and the terrain is gentle, which makes Waterville a straightforward destination for first-time RV renters and families with young children.

Sakatah Lake State Park uses the Minnesota DNR reservation system. Campsites can be reserved up to 120 days in advance through the state's online portal at reservemn.usedirect.com, and bookings can also be made by phone with the DNR reservation line. A Minnesota state park vehicle permit is required in addition to the campsite fee. Some campsites are held as first-come, first-served, which can help for last-minute mid-week trips. Private campgrounds including Kamp Dels, Kiesler's Campground and RV Resort, Camp Maiden Rock West, and Winjums Shady Acres Resort book directly through their own websites or through third-party platforms such as Campspot. For summer weekends and holiday stretches, reserve several months out. Full-hookup pull-through sites are the first to sell out.
