Campgrounds and RV parks near Drexel, MO

Drexel sits on the Missouri-Kansas line in western Bates County, roughly an hour south of the Kansas City metro. RV travelers typically cross the state line to reach the closest developed parks, since most camping capacity in this corridor is on the Kansas side along the US-69 highway. The nearest full-service option is Rutlader Outpost and RV Park south of Louisburg, Kansas, a family-run park with 83 full-hookup sites, pull-throughs, a camp store, laundry, and a storm shelter. Free primitive camping is available at two Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks lakes: Louisburg Middle Creek State Fishing Lake, immediately next door to Rutlader, and Miami State Fishing Lake near Fontana, where sites sit on earthen fishing piers. For a resort-style stay, Linn Valley Lakes near La Cygne offers pull-through sites with water, sewer, and 30-amp service (select sites 50-amp) inside a gated lake community with pools, a swim beach, and an 18-hole golf course. Together these properties cover the range from free boondocking to full amenities within a short drive of Drexel.

Rutlader Outpost and RV Park takes reservations directly by phone or through third-party platforms such as Roverpass, and the park office is open seven days a week. Linn Valley Lakes is a property-owners association: guest camping is short-term only, generally no more than seven days, and reservations go through the POA office at the front gate, which asks visitors to call at least 48 hours ahead to arrange gate access. Both state fishing lakes are managed by the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks and operate first-come, first-served with no online booking. Sites at Louisburg Middle Creek are limited to the north side of the lake, and Miami State Fishing Lake allows primitive camping only on the earthen piers. For summer weekends and holidays, reserving a hookup site at Rutlader or Linn Valley several weeks ahead is the safer plan.
