Campgrounds and RV parks near Weston, MO

Weston Bend State Park is built for outdoor days. A three-mile paved loop trail runs through wooded terrain and is popular with hikers and cyclists, and the park has a scenic overlook of the Missouri River accessible to visitors of all abilities, a dog park, and picnic shelters. Lewis and Clark State Park centers on 365-acre Sugar Lake, an oxbow of the Missouri River noted by the 1804 expedition. The lake supports fishing and boating, and bird watchers come for eagles, herons, egrets, and geese that use the water through the seasons. Back in town, Weston's historic main street offers antique shops, wineries, and local restaurants within an easy drive of every campground on this list.

The Missouri State Parks on-season runs from April 15 through October 31. During this window, showers, potable water, and full campground services are available at both Weston Bend State Park and Lewis and Clark State Park. Outside those dates, both campgrounds remain open but operate with reduced amenities; a frost-free spigot near the dump station provides potable water in the off-season. Spring brings cooler weather and higher rainfall, plus regional severe-weather and tornado risk that peaks from March into early summer. Summer runs hot and humid, with afternoon highs frequently in the upper 80s and 90s Fahrenheit through July and August. Weekends fill quickly at both state parks and at Basswood Resort during this stretch. Fall is a strong shoulder season, with cooler nights, thinner crowds, and river-bluff foliage. Winter camping is possible year-round at the state parks, but water systems are shut down from November through mid-April except at the frost-free hydrant near the dump station, so RV travelers need to plan for cold-weather water hauling.

Weston Bend State Park offers basic, electric, and sewer/electric/water sites, including 15 full-hookup sites with 50-amp service added during a recent renovation. Sites sit on asphalt pads within a wooded loop, overhead branches can be tight for taller rigs, and two pull-through sites handle larger RVs. Park gates close at 9 p.m. from mid-April through October and at 6 p.m. the rest of the year. Lewis and Clark State Park has basic, electric, and sewer/electric/water sites on level, roomy pads with paved roads, which makes maneuvering larger rigs straightforward. Basswood Resort runs full-hookup sites with 30- and 50-amp service, cable, Wi-Fi, a seasonal pool, stocked fishing lakes, an on-site pizza parlor, and cabins. Aircraft noise from Kansas City International is audible at some sites.
