Campgrounds and RV parks near Carlin, NV

South Fork Reservoir is the main outdoor draw within a short drive of Carlin. The 1,650-acre reservoir holds rainbow and brown trout, cutbow trout, largemouth and smallmouth bass, wiper hybrid bass, and channel catfish, and it supports boating, paddling, swimming, and seasonal waterfowl viewing. Two boat ramps serve the reservoir, and about eight miles of shoreline trail are open to hikers, mountain bikers, and horseback riders. The Ruby Mountains rise southeast of Elko, with Lamoille Canyon offering alpine hiking, wildflower drives, and access to more than 20 alpine lakes managed by Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest.
