Belford sits on Sandy Hook Bay in Middletown Township, Monmouth County, positioned between the Raritan Bayshore and the northern Jersey Shore. RV travelers use it as a base for reaching both New York Harbor attractions and the beaches, pine forests, and historic sites of central New Jersey. Further inland, Pine Cone Campgrounds and Turkey Swamp Park in Freehold Township offer wooded family sites in Monmouth County within a short drive of Belford.

New Jersey state parks use a centralized system. Online reservations can be made at camping.nj.gov, and bookings can be made up to 11 months in advance of the check-in date. That covers Allaire State Park. Monmouth County parks run their own booking: reservations for Turkey Swamp Park can be made at the campground office or by calling 732-462-7286, with a two-night minimum on weekends and one-night reservations available Sunday through Thursday. For Floyd Bennett Field, reservations are handled through recreation.gov under the Camp Gateway - Brooklyn listing, with advance reservations required. Liberty Harbor RV Park and Pine Cone Campgrounds are private operations; contact each directly by phone or through their websites to confirm availability, rig-length limits, and hookup type.
