Camping near Bradley Gardens, New Jersey
Bradley Gardens is an unincorporated community in Bridgewater Township, Somerset County, in central New Jersey. It sits within easy reach of the Hunterdon County highlands, where several state-run campgrounds handle most of the RV and tent traffic for the region. Interstates 78, 287, and 22 make trip logistics straightforward for renters coming from the New York metro, Philadelphia, or the Lehigh Valley.
The closest public camping is at Voorhees State Park and Spruce Run State Recreational Area, both administered from the Spruce Run park office in Clinton. Voorhees offers tent and trailer sites, cabins, and group sites in a wooded hillside setting, while Spruce Run adds reservoir frontage and a handful of trailer sites with water and 30/50-amp electric hookups. Stephens State Park, farther north along the Musconetcong River near Hackettstown, rounds out the state options with small trailer and tent sites.
Private options in the corridor include Goodland Country Club and Spa and Fla-Net Park, which give RV renters alternatives when the state parks fill on summer weekends.
Things to do around Bradley Gardens
Water recreation anchors the region. Spruce Run Reservoir covers 1,290 acres with 15 miles of shoreline for kayaking, sailing, and fishing, with 29 species in the lake including bass, trout, catfish, perch, and pike. A wind-warning light at the boat launch flashes when sustained winds reach 25 mph, at which point boaters must clear the water.
Hikers and cyclists have plenty of ground to cover. Voorhees State Park runs eleven multi-use trails across about 9 miles through deciduous forest and CCC-era pine plantations, and hosts the New Jersey Astronomical Association observatory with a 26-inch reflector telescope open to the public. Stephens State Park sits along the Musconetcong River, which is stocked in spring with trout and connects to a section of the 150-mile Highlands Trail.

The New Jersey state park camping season runs April 1 through October 31 at Voorhees, Spruce Run, and Stephens. The trailer sanitary dump station at Spruce Run follows the same schedule. Outside this window, campgrounds are closed, though day-use areas remain open for hiking, ice fishing, cross-country skiing, and sledding when conditions allow.
Spring brings trout stocking on area rivers and mild temperatures, but nights can still drop near freezing in April. Summer is peak season: sites fill fastest on weekends between Memorial Day and Labor Day, when the Spruce Run beach and picnic areas draw heavy day-use traffic. Expect warm, humid days with afternoon thunderstorms.
Fall is the sleeper season. Foliage typically peaks from mid-October through early November, bugs thin out, and midweek reservations loosen up. Hunting is permitted in designated areas of these parks during state seasons, so RV travelers should check the current NJ Fish and Wildlife calendar before booking a fall trip.

How to book campsites near Bradley Gardens
All New Jersey state park campsites, including Voorhees State Park, Spruce Run State Recreational Area, and Stephens State Park, are reserved through the state portal at camping.nj.gov. The system opens a rolling 11-month booking window, and a non-refundable transaction fee applies to each reservation. Reservations can also be edited or cancelled on the same site.
Out-of-state residents pay higher nightly rates than New Jersey residents. Standard rules include a two-vehicle limit per site and a six-person cap on campers plus visitors. Pets are not permitted in the Spruce Run campground.
For RV renters who need hookups, request campsites 1 through 4 or 55 through 57 at Spruce Run, which are the seven trailer-only sites with water and 30/50-amp electric. Book these early; they are the only powered sites in the immediate area. For Goodland Country Club and Spa and Fla-Net Park, contact the operator directly.
What to expect on the ground
The state park campgrounds in this corridor are rustic by design. Sites include a picnic table, fire ring, and parking for up to two vehicles, with modern flush toilets and showers within walking distance. Firewood can be purchased at some park offices rather than stocked at each site. Alcoholic beverages are prohibited in New Jersey state parks, and tobacco and vaping products are restricted under state law.
Spruce Run sites sit on a peninsula in the reservoir with a mix of open and shaded terrain, so RV renters with tall rigs should ask for spots with minimal tree cover. Voorhees sites are wooded and can run tight. Stephens sites are small, best suited to trailers under about 30 feet.
Cell coverage is generally usable but uneven in the ravines. Ticks are active from spring through fall, and black bears are present in the region, so store food securely and do tick checks daily.

Plan smart and your fuel budget stays manageable. Class C motorhomes typically average 8 to 12 miles per gallon (MPG), Class A motorhomes 6 to 10 MPG, campervans 16 to 20 MPG, and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle. Regular gas in Central New Jersey generally runs in the low-to-mid $3 per gallon range, with diesel slightly higher, check current prices before your trip. New Jersey law requires full-service fueling, so you stay in the driver's seat while an attendant pumps. For a typical 200-mile weekend motorhome rental Bradley Gardens trip in a Class C, budget roughly $60 to $90 in fuel. Pro tip: gas stations along Route 22 and Route 202 near Bradley Gardens tend to be cheaper than highway plazas on the NJ Turnpike, fill up before you hit the toll roads.

Summer weekends (Memorial Day through Labor Day) and any holiday weekend sell out fast, book 3 to 6 months in advance for the best chance at a site. Private campgrounds in the region usually have more last-minute availability but still book up by April for peak weekends. Pro tip: for a spontaneous trip, aim for a Sunday-through-Thursday stay, even in July you can often grab a riverside site at Worthington State Forest in the Delaware Water Gap with just a few days' notice.

Two New Jersey-specific rules to remember: RVs are banned from much of the Garden State Parkway south of exit 105 and from most scenic parkways in the region, so stick to the NJ Turnpike, Interstate 287, Interstate 78, and Interstate 80. Rush hour around Bridgewater (just north on I-287) can be heavy from 7 to 9 AM and 4 to 7 PM. Winter brings occasional snow from December through February. Pro tip: download an RV-specific GPS app to automatically route you away from low parkway bridges, this is critical near New York City.

Quiet hours generally run 10 PM to 6 AM at state sites, and alcohol is prohibited at NJ state park campgrounds. Pro tip: if you are new to RVing, book a full-hookup private park for your first night, then try a state park for night two once you are comfortable with the systems.

rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Bradley%20Gardens%2C%20New%20JerseyHow do payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is simple and secure. You pay the rental total through RVezy at booking with a credit or debit card, and funds are not released to the host until after pickup. A refundable security deposit is held on your card before the trip (the amount varies by RV and is set per listing for Bradley Gardens rentals), which protects against undisclosed damage or missing items. The deposit is released after your return assuming everything checks out. Pro tip: do a thorough walkaround video with your host at both pickup and drop-off, time-stamped footage of the RV's condition is the single best way to ensure your full security deposit comes back quickly and to avoid any disputes.
