Camping near Essex Fells, New Jersey
Essex Fells sits in suburban Essex County, roughly 20 miles west of Manhattan and within an easy drive of the New Jersey Highlands and the Hudson waterfront. RV travelers use it as a base for exploring two very different camping worlds: forested state parks and lakes to the north and northwest, and urban parks with skyline views to the east.
The closest campgrounds range from rustic sites in the woods to full-service RV parks in the metro core. Camp Wyanokie sits at the edge of Norvin Green State Forest in West Milford. Wawayanda State Park lies farther north in the Highlands. Fla-Net Park offers full-hookup RV sites in Flanders in Morris County. Liberty Harbor RV Park operates on the Jersey City waterfront, and Floyd Bennett Field, part of Gateway National Recreation Area, offers camping across the harbor in Brooklyn.
RV renters should note that not every nearby campground fits large rigs. Camp Wyanokie is a rustic property focused on tents and small cabins. Trip planning around Essex Fells generally means choosing between a wooded weekend in the Highlands or a hookup site within reach of New York City transit.
Things to do around Essex Fells
Hiking and paddling dominate the outdoor calendar to the north. Wawayanda State Park carries a long stretch of the Appalachian Trail, a large lake for swimming and boating, and dozens of miles of marked trails through forested hills. Norvin Green State Forest, adjacent to Camp Wyanokie, adds ridge hikes with views back toward the New York skyline.
Closer to the coast, campers at Liberty Harbor RV Park can walk or ride transit to Liberty State Park, the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island ferries, and Manhattan attractions. Floyd Bennett Field pairs woodland trails, an archery range, and paved bike paths with access to Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge and the Rockaway beaches. Families can combine a nature day with a city day without moving the RV.

Camp Wyanokie is a seasonal rustic property in the Highlands. Fla-Net Park operates as a private RV park, and Liberty Harbor RV Park is the outlier and stays open year round.
Spring brings mild days, wildflowers, and steady rainfall; trails can be muddy after storms, and biting insects appear in the woods by May. Summer is warm and humid, with afternoon thunderstorms common and mosquitoes reported as a significant issue at Floyd Bennett Field from July through October. Weekends and holidays fill first, especially at state parks.
Fall delivers cooler nights and foliage color, and is a strong window for hikers. Winter is cold and snowy in the Highlands; the higher elevations at Wawayanda receive significant snow and support cross-country skiing, ice fishing, and snowshoeing, but overnight camping in the woods largely shuts down.

I accept the charges as followed. However I do not accept charge for 4 days. I only had the vehicle for 3 days. I'd like to dispute the 4th day charged for 250.00
