Campgrounds and RV parks near Haledon, NJ

Haledon sits in Passaic County in northern New Jersey, within roughly 20 miles of Manhattan and less than 10 miles from Norvin Green State Forest. The area gives RV renters a workable base for both New York City sightseeing and the New Jersey Highlands, with campgrounds ranging from an urban paved lot to primitive state park sites. Options are shaped by geography. Liberty Harbor RV Park in Jersey City is the closest full-hookup RV option to Manhattan and functions as a secure staging lot with ferry and PATH access. To the northwest, Wawayanda State Park and Black Bear Campground offer state-run and private camping in wooded terrain, while Camp Wyanokie sits adjacent to Norvin Green State Forest for tent-only rustic stays. Beaver Pond Campground in Harriman State Park, just across the New York state line, adds another large public campground within a short drive. Most nearby public campgrounds are tent-oriented or primitive. RV renters planning to stay in the Highlands should confirm rig-length limits and hookup availability before booking, since electrical service is rare outside private parks.

New Jersey state park campgrounds, including Wawayanda, reserve through the state system at camping.nj.gov. Group sites at Wawayanda require a minimum of seven people and may need direct contact with the park office. Water is not available at campsites and there are no shower facilities, so RV renters should arrive with full fresh water tanks. Beaver Pond Campground in Harriman State Park books through the New York State Parks reservation system on ReserveAmerica up to nine months in advance. Camp Wyanokie handles all bookings through its online partner Campspot; there is no on-site staff and no phone reservations. Reservations must be made before 5 p.m. on the check-in date and are capped at seven nights. Liberty Harbor RV Park and Black Bear Campground both book directly through their own websites and fill early in tourist season.
