Campgrounds and RV parks near Holiday City South, NJ

Holiday City South sits in Berkeley Township, Ocean County, about ten miles from Barnegat Bay and roughly a half-hour drive to the Long Beach Island causeway. The location puts RV travelers within an easy loop of central Jersey Shore beaches, Pine Barrens forest, and Six Flags Great Adventure, so most nearby campgrounds market themselves as family base camps rather than remote wilderness stays. The area is served by a mix of private RV resorts and New Jersey state park campgrounds. Private parks in the immediate area include Tip Tam Camping Resort and Butterfly Camping Resort in Jackson, Pine Cone Campgrounds in Freehold, Cedar Creek Campground and Canoe Rent in Bayville, and Sun Retreats Long Beach Island in Barnegat. State-run sites at Bass River, Wharton State Forest, and Allaire State Park are within about an hour's drive and are booked through the state's own reservation portal. Expect sandy soils, pitch pine and oak cover, and generally flat terrain. Sites tend to be shaded but on the smaller side by national standards.

Private parks near Holiday City South are booked directly. Tip Tam, Butterfly, and Pine Cone all take reservations by phone through their offices, and Sun Retreats Long Beach Island can be booked through the Sun Outdoors website or the Campspot platform. Most private parks require prepayment for peak-season weekends and enforce multi-night minimums around Memorial Day, July 4, and Labor Day. New Jersey state park campgrounds, including Bass River, Wharton, and Allaire, are handled through the state's reservation portal at camping.nj.gov. Sites can be reserved up to eleven months in advance, with same-day booking allowed as late as twenty-four hours before arrival. Popular summer weekends at coastal state parks are typically claimed the day the window opens.
