Campgrounds near Lodi, New Jersey
Lodi sits in Bergen County, roughly ten miles west of Manhattan across the Hudson. The town itself has no campgrounds, but its position along Interstate 80 and the Garden State Parkway puts a mix of urban RV parking and north-Jersey state park camping within about an hour's drive. Renters typically split between two very different experiences: waterfront urban sites with skyline views, and forested state park sites in the New Jersey Highlands and lower Hudson Valley.
The closest option for RVs is Liberty Harbor RV Park in Jersey City, which offers a paved urban setting with quick transit access to Manhattan. For a national-park experience within city limits, Floyd Bennett Field - Gateway National Recreational Area in Brooklyn offers RV camping without electric or water hookups during its seasonal operation.
For true woodland camping, drivers head north to Camp Wyanokie in the Wyanokie Highlands, Beaver Pond Campground - Harriman State Park across the New York line, and Wawayanda State Park in the Highlands region of Sussex and Passaic counties.
Things to do near Lodi
From an urban base like Liberty Harbor RV Park, families are minutes from the PATH train, Liberty State Park, and the ferries to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. Floyd Bennett Field - Gateway National Recreational Area adds paved multi-use paths, historic hangars, and Jamaica Bay shoreline.
Upcountry, Beaver Pond Campground - Harriman State Park sits adjacent to Lake Welch with swimming beaches, hiking trails, and access to neighboring state park facilities. At Wawayanda State Park, forested hills surround Lake Wawayanda for canoeing, boating, and fishing, and the park has more than 60 miles of marked trails, including a stretch of the Appalachian Trail. Camp Wyanokie provides quieter backcountry hiking to viewpoints in the Norvin Green State Forest area.

North Jersey has a four-season climate with a clear summer camping peak. Most state park campgrounds in the region operate from spring through fall, with peak demand between Memorial Day and Labor Day when weekend sites at Harriman and Wawayanda book out weeks ahead. Weekday arrivals during shoulder months see far more availability.
Summers are warm and humid, with afternoon thunderstorms common in July and August. Fall brings cooler nights, lower humidity, and strong foliage color through October, which is a popular time for RV trips in the Highlands. Spring is variable, with wet ground into April and blackfly activity in wooded areas by May.
Wawayanda State Park camping runs from April through October. The seasonal campground at Floyd Bennett Field typically operates from mid-May through mid-October. State park campgrounds in New Jersey and New York generally close for the cold season, so December through March trips usually mean an urban RV park such as Liberty Harbor.

RV was all as advertised. An excellent value for a reunion weekend at the NJ shore. We would rent again when we need the room.
Douglas S. - Jul 2026
This is a VERY well-maintained RV. The beds, bathroom, and kitchen are all pristine. The owners set it up and took it down for us, so it was completely hassle-free. I highly recommend!

How to book
Reservation systems vary by campground operator. Online reservations for New Jersey state parks, including Wawayanda State Park, are made at camping.nj.gov. Beaver Pond Campground - Harriman State Park is operated by New York State Parks and booked through ReserveAmerica, with reservations accepted up to nine months in advance.
Reservations for Floyd Bennett Field - Gateway National Recreational Area are made online at recreation.gov, and advance booking is required. Liberty Harbor RV Park is a private operator and takes reservations directly through its own website or phone line.
For summer weekends and any holiday period, book two to three months out. Group sites and larger pull-through RV spots go first, and same-day walk-ups are unreliable at popular state parks.
What to expect
Sites in this region range from urban parking pads to primitive forest sites with minimal facilities. Liberty Harbor RV Park is paved and dense, closer to a parking lot with hookups than a traditional campground, but it delivers unmatched access to New York City transit.
State park sites at Beaver Pond Campground - Harriman State Park, Wawayanda State Park, and Camp Wyanokie are more rustic. Wawayanda has basic facilities with dirt or grass sites, terrain that is not level at every site, and no shower buildings; water must be carried from the main office. Beaver Pond has no electric hookups and prohibits pets. Expect bear-aware food storage in the Highlands.
Cell coverage is strong near Lodi and Jersey City but drops off in the Highlands. Bring layers even in summer, mosquito protection, and enough fresh water for dry camping if heading to a state park site.

Absolutely, and your pup will love the trip. Many owners offer a pet-friendly RV rental Lodi guests rave about, just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy. Once you're rolling, great local spots to explore together include Garret Mountain Reservation in Woodland Park (about 10 minutes away) with leashed-dog trails and NYC skyline views, and Saddle River County Park's paved path for easy walks. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm pet fees and any size or breed notes.
bergencountyparks.org/parks/garret-mountain-reservationCan the RV be delivered to me in Lodi instead of picking it up?
Yes, and it's often the easiest way to start your trip. RV delivery in Lodi lets the host drive the rig straight to your home, hotel, or campground, then walk you through every system on site, perfect if you're nervous about handling a big vehicle on Route 17 or the Garden State Parkway. Filter for Delivery on RVezy to see hosts who offer it; many deliver throughout Bergen County and to nearby campgrounds like Mahlon Dickerson Reservation or Camp Taylor in Columbia. Delivery fees usually run by the mile. Pro tip: ask for delivery directly to your campsite to skip the toughest driving entirely.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106834-Delivery-options-explainedHow does mileage work, and can I find unlimited mileage RV rentals?

Extra miles typically run $0.30 to $0.45 each if you exceed the included amount. Use RVezy's filters to sort by mileage allowance, and you can always message the host to negotiate a bigger package for a road-trip-heavy itinerary. Pro tip: map your route first, then add a 20 percent buffer for detours to wineries or scenic overlooks.

nj.gov/dep/parksandforests/parks/campreserv.htmlWhen is the best time of year for an RV trip from Lodi, NJ?
Late April through late October is the sweet spot for RV camping Lodi travelers love, with daytime highs of 65 to 85 F and the lowest chance of snow. May and September are gems: mild temperatures, smaller crowds, and stunning early foliage on the late September side. Summer (July to August) brings humid 85 F days and is peak season for Jersey Shore campgrounds, so book early. Winter trips are possible (January lows often hit 20 to 30 F), and several hosts offer four-season rigs with heated tanks. Pro tip: aim for the first two weeks of October for peak fall color in the Skylands region just an hour west.
weather.gov/phi/I've never rented an RV before. Will I be okay?
You'll be more than okay, you'll be hooked. First time renting an RV from Lodi is genuinely beginner-friendly because every host on RVezy gives you an in-person walkthrough at pickup (or at your delivery location), covering driving, hookups, slide-outs, the propane system, the toilet, and water tanks. Most walkthroughs run 30 to 60 minutes and you can ask anything. Campervan rental Lodi options drive like an oversized SUV, which is the easiest entry point if you're nervous. You also get 24/7 RVezy support and the host's phone number for the whole trip. Pro tip: book a campervan or Class C for your first trip, they're forgiving on tight Bergen County streets.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat if something goes wrong with the RV during my trip?
You're never on your own. Every RV rental in Lodi booked through RVezy includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, covering flat tires, lockouts, dead batteries, towing, and mechanical breakdowns. If anything happens on I-80, the Garden State Parkway, or in the Delaware Water Gap, one call gets help dispatched. Your host is also reachable directly through the RVezy app for quick questions, and RVezy's customer support team is available before, during, and after your trip. Pro tip: snap a photo of the RV's VIN and license plate at pickup, it speeds up any roadside call.
rvezy.com/insurance-and-protectionWhat are the best RV road trip routes from Lodi, NJ?
You're sitting on one of the most road-trip-friendly spots on the East Coast. Popular RV road trip from Lodi destinations include the Delaware Water Gap (about 70 miles west, 1.5 hours) for waterfalls and the Appalachian Trail; Cape May at the southern tip of NJ (about 160 miles, 3 hours) for Victorian charm and beaches; the Catskills in upstate New York (about 110 miles, 2 hours) for fall foliage; Lancaster County, PA Amish country (about 150 miles, 2.5 hours); and Acadia National Park in Maine (about 500 miles, 9 hours) for the ultimate Northeast adventure. Cross-border trips to Canada are allowed with many hosts; Mexico travel is not permitted on RVezy rentals. Pro tip: confirm your route with your host before booking.
nps.gov/dewa/index.htmWhat kind of fuel economy and gas budget should I expect?
Realistic budgeting makes the trip more fun. Expect roughly 8 to 10 MPG for a Class A, 10 to 14 MPG for a Class C, 14 to 18 MPG for a campervan (Class B), and 12 to 16 MPG for a truck towing a travel trailer. Regular gas in northern New Jersey generally runs about $3.20 to $3.60 per gallon, with diesel a bit higher. For a 500-mile Lodi RV trip in a Class C, plan on roughly $150 to $180 in fuel. Pro tip: fill up in New Jersey before crossing state lines, and remember NJ is a full-service state where the attendant pumps for you.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Lodi?
The earlier the better, especially for weekends. New Jersey state park campgrounds (like Worthington, Stokes State Forest, and Spruce Run Recreation Area) book through the official NJ state parks reservation portal and open several months in advance, with prime summer Saturdays often filling within hours. Private parks like Liberty Harbor RV (Jersey City) and Camp Taylor (Columbia) accept reservations 6 to 12 months out and sell out fast for July 4th, Memorial Day, and fall foliage weekends. Mahlon Dickerson Reservation in Morris County opens reservations seasonally through its parks website. Pro tip: if you strike out, midweek nights at Mahlon Dickerson or Cheesequake State Park almost always have openings, even in peak summer.
nj.gov/dep/parksandforests/parks/campreserv.htmlWhat are driving conditions like around Lodi for an RV?
Once you know the layout, driving is very manageable. Lodi sits near Route 17, I-80, and the Garden State Parkway, so getting in and out is easy, just avoid the 7-9 AM and 4-7 PM rush hours when traffic stacks up near the George Washington Bridge. The Lincoln Tunnel and Holland Tunnel restrict propane-carrying RVs, so route via the GW Bridge when heading to NYC. Many local roads have low parkway bridges, so use an RV-specific GPS like Garmin RV or the CoPilot RV app. Pro tip: head west on I-80 toward the Delaware Water Gap for the easiest, most scenic RV driving within an hour of Lodi.
state.nj.us/transportation/What amenities do campgrounds near Lodi typically offer?
You'll find a wide range, which makes planning easy. Full-hookup parks like Liberty Harbor RV (Jersey City) offer 30/50-amp electric, water, and sewer at the site, plus WiFi and laundry. State parks like Worthington and Stokes State Forest are more rustic, with potable water spigots, restrooms, and central dump stations but no individual hookups, ideal if your RV has solar or a generator. Mahlon Dickerson Reservation falls in the middle with paved RV pads and electric. Most NJ state parks include a free dump station for registered campers. Pro tip: many Pilot/Flying J locations along I-80 have big-rig-friendly dump stations and propane fills on a westbound route.
nj.gov/dep/parksandforests/parks/What's typically included inside the RV rental itself?
More than you'd expect, which is part of what makes RVezy so easy. Most rigs include a full kitchen (fridge/freezer, stove, microwave, sink, cookware, plates, utensils), a private bathroom with toilet and shower, sleeping areas with linens (often included or available as an add-on), a dinette, and climate control via roof AC and propane furnace. Class A and Class C motorhomes have seatbelted travel seats, and many include a TV, Bluetooth stereo, and an onboard generator for off-grid power. WiFi is hit or miss, so most renters use a phone hotspot. Pro tip: check the listing's amenities checklist and message the host if you need specific gear like a bike rack, car seat anchor, or outdoor grill.
rvezy.com/What add-ons and extras can I get when I rent an RV in Lodi?
Plenty of fun stuff to make the trip easier. Common add-ons from RVezy hosts in Lodi include linen and towel packages ($30-$75), kitchen kits, camping chairs and outdoor tables, generators ($25-$50/night), bike racks, propane refills, and portable grills. Delivery and setup is the most popular add-on, often $2 to $5 per mile from the host's location. Pickup and dropoff windows are typically late morning to early afternoon, and many hosts offer Instant Book so you don't need to wait for approval. Pro tip: bundle linens, kitchen kit, and delivery to arrive at the campground with a turnkey RV waiting for you.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Lodi%2C%20New%20JerseyHow does payment and the security deposit work?
It's simple and secure. When you book an RV rental in Lodi on RVezy, you pay the rental total plus the protection plan and any add-ons through the platform, no cash or e-transfers to hosts. A refundable security deposit (typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the rig) is handled separately from the booking payment and is released after the trip if the RV is returned in the same condition. Choosing a higher-tier protection plan can lower your deductible significantly. Pro tip: do a quick walkaround video at pickup and dropoff with the host, time-stamped photos protect both of you and make deposit returns smooth and fast.
