Campgrounds near Manville, New Jersey
Manville sits in Somerset County in central New Jersey, within easy driving range of several state parks that accept RVs and trailers. The closest tent and trailer campgrounds are clustered west and southwest of town, in the rolling hills of Hunterdon County and along the Delaware River corridor. Most sites are operated by the New Jersey Division of Parks and Forestry, with a few private and county options filling the gaps.
Voorhees State Park offers 30 tent sites equipped with fire rings and picnic tables, along with modern restrooms and showers; 8 of those sites can accommodate a trailer, though there is no electric or water hook-up. Spruce Run State Recreational Area includes tent and trailer sites with picnic tables and fire rings, a small number of trailer-only sites with water and electric hook-ups, three shelters, and a sanitary dump station.
Washington Crossing State Park, NJ has group campsites in the Phillips Farm area, each with picnic tables, fire rings and a composting toilet. Fla-Net Park and Goodland Country Club and Spa round out the local options for renters who want something closer to Manville or a mix of resort-style amenities.
Things to do near Manville
Water recreation anchors the area. Spruce Run State Recreational Area covers roughly 1,290 acres with about 15 miles of shoreline and ranks among the largest reservoirs in the state. Park activities include access to the Highlands Trail, bird watching, biking, fishing, hunting, picnicking, boating, canoeing, kayaking, playgrounds, and swimming at the guarded beach in summer.
History and stargazing are the draws at the other parks. Voorhees State Park is home to the Paul H. Robinson Observatory, operated by the New Jersey Astronomical Association, which is open to the public on select evenings for telescope viewing. Washington Crossing State Park, NJ offers miles of moderate trails for hiking and jogging, plus Revolutionary War sites along the Delaware River. Fla-Net Park adds a quieter Somerset County option with picnic areas and short walking paths.

The camping season in central New Jersey is tightly tied to the state park calendar. Camping at Voorhees State Park is open April 1 to October 1 and reservations can be made online at camping.nj.gov. Spruce Run State Recreational Area follows a similar spring-through-fall window. Outside those windows, day-use areas often remain accessible, but overnight state park sites near Manville are generally closed.
Spring brings trout stocking and mild temperatures, and shoulder-season sites are the easiest to book. Summer weekends fill quickly, especially at the reservoir, so reservations well in advance are strongly recommended during peak weeks.
Fall offers cooler nights, foliage, and less competition for hookup sites, while winter shifts activity to day use. Winter activities at Spruce Run include ice fishing and cross-country skiing when conditions allow. Renters running a furnace or generator should plan for freezing overnight lows from December through February.

Marc, the owner, and the RV went way beyond my expectations! Marc is super knowledgeable and helpful. The RV had every amenity you could want, was so easy to drive, and very well maintained. Prior to pick up date Marc sent me documentary and video informational instructions that were extremely useful. Marc was always available for any questions whether before or during our trip. We rented the RV for 13 days and traveled pretty far. I have no doubt that because the RV was so comfortable inconvenience. Our trip was effortless. I would definitely rent with Marc again and can’t wait for our next trip!

How to book campgrounds near Manville
New Jersey state park sites use a single reservation system. Advanced camping reservations are made online at camping.nj.gov, same-day reservations can be made online until the early afternoon cutoff, and walk-in bookings are accepted only if space is available by contacting the park office the morning of arrival.
All overnight facilities must be reserved and occupied by at least one adult, 18 years of age or older. No more than six people may occupy a standard camping facility unless they are all members of one family; group and primitive sites have separate limits.
Cancellation fees apply and vary by resident status, so review the policy before booking. Group sites at Washington Crossing State Park, NJ have had recent seasonal closures, so confirm status directly with the park before planning a trip built around that location. For Fla-Net Park and Goodland Country Club and Spa, book directly with the operator.
What to expect at campgrounds near Manville
Most nearby state park campgrounds are rustic by RV-park standards. Voorhees has no electric or water hook-up at its sites, though a trailer sanitary station is available in season. Spruce Run offers a handful of trailer sites with water and electric hook-ups plus a sanitary dump station within the campground; other sites in the same campground are no-hookup.
Expect flush restrooms and showers within walking distance, fire rings and picnic tables at each site, and quiet-hour enforcement. Pets and alcoholic beverages are prohibited in the campground at Spruce Run, and similar rules apply at most NJ state park campgrounds, so travelers with dogs should filter carefully when booking. Firewood is not provided at overnight facilities but can be purchased at some park offices.

Frequently asked questions about campgrounds near Manville, NJ
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Manville, NJ?
RV rental in Manville is more affordable than most travelers expect, with travel trailers often starting around $75 to $150 per night and Class C motorhomes typically running $175 to $295 per night on RVezy. Because Manville sits in Somerset County between Princeton and Bridgewater, you have a strong mix of hosts to choose from, which keeps pricing competitive. To score a cheap RV rental in Manville, book midweek, travel in May or late September when demand drops, and consider a travel trailer if your tow vehicle qualifies. Pro tip: filter by Instant Book and message hosts about multi-night discounts. Many will offer 10 to 15 percent off a week-long booking.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Manville%2C%20New%20JerseyDo I need a special license to rent an RV in Manville?
Good news: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Manville. New Jersey does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or any special endorsement for personal recreational vehicles, even larger Class A motorhomes used for personal travel. To book on RVezy you must be at least 25 years old, and you will verify your ID and driver's license through the platform during checkout. Visiting from abroad? Bring your home country license plus an International Driving Permit. Most first-time renters are surprised how easy the process is once they see the orientation walkthrough hosts provide at pickup.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat protection is included with my RVezy booking in Manville?
Every RV rental in Manville comes with an RVezy renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance included, so you are covered from the moment you drive off. The protection plan helps cover damage to the vehicle and provides real peace of mind, whether you are heading to the Jersey Shore or up to the Delaware Water Gap. During booking you select the level of coverage that fits your trip, so you can dial up extra protection if you are a first-timer or keep it standard if you are an experienced RVer. It is not traditional auto insurance, but it provides meaningful financial protection so you can focus on the trip instead of the what-ifs.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat is the cancellation policy if my Manville RV trip plans change?
Booking an RV rental in Manville is low risk because RVezy sets the cancellation policy across the platform, not individual hosts. There is a grace period after booking during which you can cancel for a full refund. Beyond that window, refunds depend on how close you are to your trip start date, which is helpful in a state that occasionally sees nor'easters or hurricane remnants. Your exact cancellation terms are shown clearly during checkout before you confirm. Pro tip: book early to lock in your dates and your favorite RV, knowing the grace period gives you breathing room if plans shift.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a Manville RV rental?
Absolutely, plenty of hosts offer pet-friendly RV rentals in Manville, just check the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy to see them all. Many nearby parks welcome leashed pups. Round Valley Recreation Area in Lebanon Township (about 25 minutes from Manville) and Spruce Run Recreation Area in Clinton both allow dogs in their campgrounds, and Duke Farms in Hillsborough (about 5 minutes away) is a beautiful leashed-dog walk. Message your host before booking to confirm any pet fee or breed details, and pack a six-foot leash since most NJ state parks require pets to stay leashed at all times.
nj.gov/dep/parksandforests/parks/general_rules.htmlCan the RV be delivered to my campsite or driveway in Manville?
Yes, RV delivery in Manville is one of the most popular options on the platform, and it is a game-changer if you have never towed before or do not want to drive a big rig through Central Jersey traffic. Many hosts will deliver the RV directly to campgrounds like Round Valley, Spruce Run, or Voorhees State Park, set it up, level it, connect hookups, and walk you through every system before they leave. Delivery fees typically scale by distance from the host's location. To find delivery-ready listings, toggle the Delivery filter when you search. It is the easiest way to enjoy a Manville RV trip without ever getting behind a giant wheel.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Manville%2C%20New%20JerseyHow does mileage work, and how far can I realistically travel from Manville?
Most hosts on RVezy include a generous daily mileage allowance (commonly 100 to 150 miles per night), and some offer RV rental with unlimited mileage, which is ideal for a longer RV road trip from Manville. From Manville's spot in the Raritan Valley, you can reach the Jersey Shore at Point Pleasant in about an hour, the Delaware Water Gap in about 75 minutes, the Poconos in roughly 90 minutes, Cape May in about three hours, and the Catskills in about 2.5 hours. If you have a big loop in mind, message the host before booking and ask about an unlimited-miles add-on. Many will say yes for a flat daily fee.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Manville%2C%20New%20JerseyWhere are the best campgrounds near Manville to park my RV?
You have great options within an hour of Manville for RV camping in New Jersey. Round Valley Recreation Area in Lebanon Township (about 25 minutes away) offers a scenic reservoir setting. Spruce Run Recreation Area in Clinton (about 30 minutes) sits near a swimming beach and is great for families. Voorhees State Park in Glen Gardner (about 35 minutes) features a quiet wooded loop with a dump station. Cheesequake State Park near Matawan (about 40 minutes) offers RV sites with hookups. For a private resort vibe, Camp Taylor Campground in the Delaware Water Gap area (about 75 minutes) is a longtime favorite. Reserve NJ state park sites through the official New Jersey state park reservation portal.
njparksandforests.reserveamerica.com/When is the best time of year for an RV trip from Manville?
Late April through October is prime RV season in Manville, with the sweet spot being May, June, September, and early October when daytime highs sit in the comfortable 65 to 80 degree range and humidity is manageable. July and August bring hot, humid weather with highs in the mid-80s and frequent thunderstorms, but campground AC and shaded sites make it doable. Fall foliage peaks in mid to late October and is genuinely spectacular in the nearby Sourland Mountains and Delaware Water Gap. Winters get cold (lows in the 20s) and many state park campgrounds close from late October to early April. Pro tip: book a shoulder-season trip for better pricing, smaller crowds, and gorgeous weather.
weather.gov/phi/I have never rented an RV before. How will I know what to do?
You are going to be just fine, first time renting an RV is easier than it looks because every RVezy host provides a hands-on orientation at pickup. They will walk you through how to operate the generator, level the rig, dump tanks, hook up at a campsite, run the slide-outs, and use the propane stove. Most walkthroughs take 30 to 60 minutes, and you can record video on your phone for reference. You can also message your host anytime during your trip if a question comes up. For a confidence boost, start with a smaller Class C motorhome or travel trailer for your first RV rental in Manville and pick a nearby campground like Round Valley so you are not driving far on day one.
nj.gov/dep/parksandforests/parks/index.htmlWhat happens if I have a breakdown or problem on the road?
You are never alone on an RVezy trip. Every rental includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, so if you get a flat tire on Route 22, run into engine trouble on the New Jersey Turnpike, or have a hookup issue at the campground, one phone call gets help dispatched. Your host is also a text away for questions about the specific rig (their orientation often covers little quirks of that exact RV). RVezy's customer support team is available before, during, and after your trip. Save both numbers in your phone before you leave Manville and you will have backup at every mile.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Manville RV rental into other states or Canada?
Yes, interstate travel is welcome and Manville's central East Coast location makes it a fantastic launchpad. From Somerset County you can easily reach Pennsylvania (the Poconos are 90 minutes), New York's Catskills and Finger Lakes, Maryland, Delaware beaches, Vermont, and even down to the Outer Banks. Cross-border trips into Canada may be allowed with host approval and proper insurance arrangements, so message the host through the listing page before you book if Canada is on your itinerary. One firm rule: travel into Mexico is not permitted on any RVezy rental because insurance coverage does not extend there. Otherwise, the Lower 48 is your playground.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat should I budget for fuel on a Manville RV trip?
Fuel is usually the biggest variable cost on any RV road trip from Manville, so plan smart. Class C motorhomes typically get 8 to 12 miles per gallon, Class B campervans get 14 to 20 mpg, and if you are towing a trailer behind your own truck, expect a 20 to 30 percent drop from your normal mpg. One local perk: New Jersey is a full-service-only state, so an attendant pumps your fuel (no awkward fumbling with a giant rig at the pump). Pro tip: use a fuel price app and fill up in NJ rather than NY or PA when possible, since Jersey prices tend to be cheaper.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book campgrounds near Manville?
For peak summer weekends (Memorial Day through Labor Day), book New Jersey state park campgrounds as early as you can, ideally several months out, since popular spots like Round Valley, Spruce Run, and Cheesequake fill quickly. Reservations are made through the official New Jersey state park reservation portal. Private campgrounds like Camp Taylor take reservations directly through their own websites. Pro tip: midweek summer stays and any weekend in May, September, or October are dramatically easier to book and often quieter, perfect for a family RV trip from Manville.
njparksandforests.reserveamerica.com/What is driving an RV around Manville and Central Jersey actually like?
Driving a motorhome rental from Manville is very manageable as long as you plan your route. Manville itself is small and easy, but nearby I-287, I-78, and Route 22 can get congested during weekday rush hours (roughly 7 to 9 AM and 4 to 7 PM), so aim to travel midday or weekends. Avoid the Garden State Parkway with anything over the posted height limit, and never take a tall RV on parkway-only roads in NJ or NY (many have low overpasses). The Pulaski Skyway and several Hudson River tunnels also restrict RVs. Pro tip: use an RV-specific GPS app like RV Trip Wizard or CoPilot RV to filter out low bridges. Stick to interstates and you will cruise comfortably.
state.nj.us/transportation/commuter/roads/What amenities will I find at campgrounds near Manville?
Most campgrounds near Manville offer the essentials and then some. New Jersey state parks like Spruce Run and Cheesequake provide picnic tables, fire rings, restrooms with showers, and potable water fill-up stations, though hookup availability varies by park. For dump stations, head to Voorhees State Park or Spruce Run Recreation Area, both within 35 minutes of Manville. Private campgrounds like Camp Taylor in the Delaware Water Gap area typically offer full hookups, Wi-Fi, pools, and laundry. Pro tip: confirm hookup type (30 amp vs 50 amp) with both your host and the campground when booking so your adapters match. Most hosts include the right cords and adapters at no extra charge.
nj.gov/dep/parksandforests/parks/index.htmlWhat is included inside the RV itself?
Most RVs on RVezy come fully ready to camp. Expect real beds (queen or king in larger rigs, plus convertible dinettes for kids), a kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, sink, and cookware, a bathroom with shower and toilet, climate control with AC and furnace heat, and seatbelted seating for travel. Many Manville-area listings also include a generator, outdoor awning, outdoor speakers, and a flat-screen TV. Wi-Fi varies, so if you need to work remotely from a campsite at Round Valley or Spruce Run, ask the host directly or plan to use your phone's hotspot (cell coverage is strong throughout Somerset County). Hosts typically provide a starter kit of paper towels, dish soap, and toilet paper to get you going.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Manville%2C%20New%20JerseyWhat add-ons and pickup logistics should I expect when renting in Manville?
Hosts offering campervan rentals in Manville and larger motorhomes often provide useful add-ons: bedding and linen packages, kitchen kits, bike racks, generators, portable BBQs, camping chairs, outdoor rugs, and even kayaks or paddleboards. Pickup is usually from the host's home in Manville, Hillsborough, Bridgewater, or nearby Somerville, with times agreed during checkout. Mileage policies vary (100 to 150 miles per night is common), and many hosts will negotiate higher allowances for longer trips. Pro tip: bundle delivery plus a generator if you are heading to a non-electric site at Round Valley, since the generator gives you the AC and outlets you would otherwise miss.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Manville%2C%20New%20JerseyHow does payment and the security deposit work?
Payment is simple and secure. You pay through RVezy with a credit or debit card at the time of booking, and the platform handles your security deposit separately as a temporary hold on your card, not a charge. As long as you return the RV in the agreed condition with the agreed-upon mileage and a clean interior, the hold is released after your trip. To avoid issues, walk around the RV with your host at pickup and take a quick video documenting any pre-existing scratches or dents, and do the same at return. That five-minute habit protects everyone and keeps your Manville RV trip ending on a smooth note.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksWhere can I park or store an RV in Manville before or after my trip?
Most RVezy guests in Manville do not need to worry about RV storage since pickup and drop-off happens at the host's location, but if you are road-tripping in and need overnight parking, plan ahead. Manville borough and most NJ municipalities prohibit overnight street parking of RVs. Some Walmart locations allow overnight RV parking, but always call ahead to confirm with the specific store manager. Truck stops along I-78 are another option. For a more scenic overnight, head straight to a state park campground. Pro tip: if you booked delivery, this is a non-issue. The host brings the RV to your campsite and picks it up there, so you never have to figure out where to park an RV in Manville at all.
