Camping near North Caldwell, New Jersey
North Caldwell sits in Essex County in the New York metro area, roughly 20 miles west of Manhattan. RV renters based here have quick access to two very different camping worlds: urban waterfront sites on the Hudson with skyline views, and rustic Highlands campgrounds tucked into state forests and lakes to the north and west.
The closest option, Camp Wyanokie, is a rustic town-owned preserve on the edge of Norvin Green State Forest. It does not accept RVs, so renters typically look toward Fla-Net Park in Flanders for full hookups, Liberty Harbor RV Park in Jersey City for a base near NYC, and Wawayanda State Park or Beaver Pond Campground in Harriman State Park for state-park camping within an hour or so of town.
Most family trips from North Caldwell mix a short drive to a lake-based campground with day trips into the city, along the Appalachian Trail, or out to the Delaware Water Gap. Reservation windows and open seasons vary widely between private RV parks and state park systems, so planning ahead matters.
Things to do near North Caldwell
The area supports a wide mix of activities. Wawayanda State Park has over 60 miles of marked trails plus a 19.6-mile section of the Appalachian Trail, a spring-fed lake for swimming and paddling, and canoe, rowboat, and paddleboat rentals, with electric motors permitted and gasoline motors prohibited. Beaver Pond Campground in Harriman State Park adjoins Lake Welch, with lifeguarded swimming beaches, hiking trails, and neighboring state park facilities.
Closer to town, Camp Wyanokie offers hiking on the Wyanokie plateau connecting to Norvin Green trails, and fishing for bass, bluegill, and crappie in its five-acre lake. From Liberty Harbor RV Park, families can reach Manhattan by PATH train or NY Waterway Ferry, and Liberty State Park, the Statue of Liberty, and Ellis Island are all within walking or ferry distance.

Camping season in northern New Jersey runs mostly April through October. Wawayanda State Park campsites are open April 1 to October 31, and Beaver Pond Campground in Harriman State Park follows a similar spring-through-fall window. Camp Wyanokie typically opens the first weekend in April and closes the last weekend in November. Liberty Harbor RV Park is the standout exception, staying open year-round.
Summer is peak season. Weekends fill quickly at Beaver Pond, and reviewers consistently note that midweek stays are quieter, since weekend groups from the metro area book heavily. Wawayanda sits at about 1,140 feet in the Highlands and receives real accumulations of snow, which supports cross-country skiing, ice fishing, and snowshoeing in winter, though the campground itself is closed by then.
Spring and fall bring the mildest weather and best foliage. Black bear activity is present at Harriman and in the Highlands parks, so campers should follow posted bear-habitat and food-storage guidelines during any warm-weather stay.

I accept the charges as followed. However I do not accept charge for 4 days. I only had the vehicle for 3 days. I'd like to dispute the 4th day charged for 250.00

How to book campgrounds near North Caldwell
New Jersey and New York state parks use separate reservation systems. Wawayanda State Park online reservations are made at camping.nj.gov, the state's official portal. Beaver Pond Campground reservations can be made up to 9 months in advance, online through ReserveAmerica or by phone at 1-800-456-2267, and same-day booking is allowed until 3 p.m. on the day of arrival.
Private parks handle their own bookings. Liberty Harbor RV Park takes reservations directly through its website and offers year-round check-in. Fla-Net Park in Flanders takes reservations through its operator. Camp Wyanokie is reserved online through Campspot, with a cutoff before 5 p.m. on the day of check-in and a maximum stay of seven days per booking.
What to expect on the ground
Facilities vary sharply by campground. Liberty Harbor is essentially a paved lot at a marina with 30- and 50-amp electric, water, restrooms, showers, laundry, and a dump station, with skyline views but almost no green space. Fla-Net Park offers full-hookup RV sites with typical private-park amenities, though sites sit relatively close together.
Beaver Pond offers campsites for up to two tents and six persons per site, with select sites accommodating a trailer or RV up to 30 feet long, but there are no electrical hookups for trailers. Pets are not permitted at Beaver Pond, and alcohol is prohibited. Wawayanda has no water at individual campsites, water must be carried from the main office, and there are no shower facilities. Camp Wyanokie is rustic tent camping only, with latrines, fire rings, and charcoal grills, no electricity or running water, and it does not accept RVs.

nj.gov/dep/parksandforests/parks/When is the best time of year for an RV trip from North Caldwell?
Late spring through early fall is prime time. The sweet spot for a North Caldwell RV trip is May through October, when daytime highs range from the mid-60s F in May to mid-80s F in July and August, with crisp 60 to 70 F days returning in September and October. July and August bring humidity and the biggest crowds at the Jersey Shore, so locals favor September for warm ocean water and quieter campgrounds, plus October for spectacular foliage in the Delaware Water Gap. Winter rentals are available too, though most campgrounds in North Jersey close from late October through mid-April. Tip: book Columbus Day weekend early since it's a popular foliage week in the region.

You're going to do great, and you won't be alone. First time renting an RV is exactly what RVezy hosts are used to handling. If you'd rather skip driving a big rig out of Essex County altogether, filter for Delivery and the RV comes to you fully set up. Tip: start with a Class C or campervan for your first trip since both handle a lot like an oversized van.

Cross-border travel into Canada (such as Niagara Falls or Montreal) is allowed by some hosts depending on coverage, so message the host before booking and confirm in writing. Travel to Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because insurance does not extend there. Check current pump prices on EIA before your trip, with Costco in Wayne and Wawa stations along Route 23 often among the cheaper options. Tip: New Jersey is a full-service gas state, so stay buckled in and let the attendant handle the pump.

KOA and private parks like Camp Taylor and Panther Lake Camping Resort accept bookings up to a year out. For shoulder-season trips in May or September, two to three weeks notice is usually plenty. newjerseystateparks.reserveamerica.com/What's it like driving an RV around North Caldwell and northern NJ?
It's very doable, and a little planning sets you up to succeed. North Caldwell sits in a quiet residential pocket of Essex County, so getting out to Route 280, I-80, or the Garden State Parkway is straightforward. Things to know: the Garden State Parkway has historically restricted certain trailers and vehicles, so confirm restrictions for your specific rig before traveling. Avoid the Hudson River tunnels (Holland and Lincoln) and most NYC parkways, which restrict RVs and trailers. Tip: leave early to dodge I-80 eastbound traffic into Manhattan, and use an RV-specific GPS app like RV Life to auto-avoid low parkway bridges if you're heading toward New England.

You're well-served by nearby campgrounds and service stations. Many New Jersey state parks with RV sites, including Stephens State Park in Hackettstown and Worthington State Forest, offer dump stations and potable water fills for a small fee. Liberty Harbor RV Park in Jersey City and Panther Lake Camping Resort in Andover also welcome day-use dumps. Campgrounds near North Caldwell typically offer 30 and 50 amp electric, water hookups, and many have full sewer at premium sites. Tip: always wear gloves, dump the black tank first then gray to flush the hose, and keep a dedicated sewer hose in an outside RV compartment. Your host will show you exactly how at orientation.

Many rigs also come with a generator, outdoor awning, flat-screen TV, Bluetooth stereo, and some include Starlink or mobile Wi-Fi. Always review the listing's amenities list and seat-belt count before booking, especially for a family RV trip North Caldwell parents are planning. Tip: ask the host if linens, towels, and a starter propane tank are included so you're not buying them last-minute.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=North%20Caldwell%2C%20New%20JerseyWhat add-ons and pickup options should I look for?
The right add-ons can transform your trip. Mileage policies range from 100 free miles per night to true unlimited mileage, so filter and compare. Tip: bundle delivery plus a camping kit and you can arrive at the campground with just a suitcase and groceries.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=North%20Caldwell%2C%20New%20JerseyHow do payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
It's straightforward and secure. When you book an RV rental in North Caldwell on RVezy, your payment is processed safely through the platform, never directly to the host, using a credit or debit card. A refundable security deposit is held separately from your booking payment (typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the rig) and released after your trip ends, assuming no damage or major cleaning is needed. You'll see the exact deposit amount on the listing before you confirm. To avoid issues, complete a thorough walkaround video at pickup and dropoff, return the RV with the same fuel and propane levels, and empty the tanks if your host requires it. Tip: keep all gas and dump-station receipts handy since it makes deposit return effortless.
