Campgrounds and RV parks near Ocean Gate, NJ

Ocean Gate is a small borough on the north shore of Barnegat Bay in Ocean County, New Jersey, at the mouth of the Toms River. It sits within easy reach of both the bay and the Atlantic beaches, with the Pine Barrens stretching inland. RV travelers use the area as a base for shore days, paddling, and freshwater recreation without the traffic of the barrier-island resort towns. Campground options range from private family resorts to a state park. Tip Tam Camping Resort is located on Brewers Bridge Road in Jackson, a straightforward drive inland from Ocean Gate. Butterfly Camping Resort is another private option in the region, and Cedar Creek Campground and Canoe Rent sits just west of Ocean Gate along Cedar Creek. Sun Retreats Long Beach Island is at 30 Route 72 in Barnegat, positioned on the mainland approach to Long Beach Island. For a public-land experience, Allaire State Park lies north of Ocean Gate near Farmingdale, with a wooded campground near the Manasquan River. The park offers a mix of wooded and open sites for tents, trailers, and RVs, plus shelter cabins.

State park sites use the NJ Outdoors online reservation system operated by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, with reservations available up to 11 months in advance. Allaire State Park bookings can also be made by calling the park office. Campsites and shelters fill quickly for summer and holiday weekends, so booking at least three months ahead is recommended. Day-use entry fees apply at New Jersey state parks in season, along with campsite reservation fees. Private campgrounds book directly through their own websites or by phone. Sun Retreats Long Beach Island and Tip Tam both accept online reservations and require deposits at booking. For summer weekends and holidays, plan on reserving several months in advance, particularly for full-hookup or pull-through RV sites.
